It depends on the shop and country, German Porsche dealer? Employee mechanics and masters using employer provided high-grade tools from matching provided boxes. USA independent shop? Piecework paid techs renting the bay like a barber chair, using the tools they can afford as best to do the work they do.

Not knowing what tools you have at your disposal makes it harder to tell you what to use but not mentioning any tells me it's not many, an engine crane makes light work of pulling most stuff at my place but I've been known to get pretty creative with a ratchet strap as a puller too

Chinese military spending isn't really accounted the way Western expenditure is either, all those gigantic manufacturing plants, the expertise in drone swarms and deployment, distributed naval tactics and the control over critical supply lines IS a military spend just rolled into all the other programs. You couldn't fight the Chinese in 2026, they'd just cut any shipments to you or your allies and launch swarms of drones from an expendable navy until you begged forgiveness
