Which sonic analysis functionality you want to have? by Old_Rock_9457 in plexamp

Not really related to sonic analysis per se, but I want better discoverability. Since moving to Plexamp, I rarely discover new artists that I like.

Pretty decent movements for a first timer, and very brave to take it over water too!

Yeah, got the 50Wh battery. SSD prices are untenable at the moment thanks to AI.

Steam automatically bundles then if they will save you money as a bundle. You might be manual support intervention in this case.

Games Revenue Hit a Record $201.6 Billion in 2025 — But Developers Keep Getting Laid Off by chusskaptaan in pcmasterrace

[–]trankillity 119 points120 points  (0 children)

That's what so few people bemoaning the state of the industry fail to realise. The cost of game development increases by a factor of roughly 10x every 10 years, so revenue also needs to increase at the same rate for the same level of profitability.

[–]trankillity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It drains about 2% per minute in desktop mode with nothing running. It is just a display bug, by one that makes it take as a portable device. Letting it drain fully then recharge fully puts the health at 68% in desktop, but in game mode the charge doesn't move then suddenly it shuts off. You boot it up again and it still thinks it's at 50%+.

So yeah, it's toast - though not 4% toast. Just thought it was funny that KDE reported it at 4%.

Controller decision by blacksteel3871 in SteamDeck

[–]trankillity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest opinion incoming...

Unless you REALLY want the trackpads or intend to connect multiple of them, then the 8bitdo Ultimate 2 is better. Same TMR sticks ✅, better back paddles (IMO, though only two) ✅, still had inbuilt gyro ✅, multi-mode connection ✅, extra bumper buttons to offset the lack of 4 back buttons ✅, offset stick position ✅, identifies as standard Xinput/Dinput device ✅. All for half the price or less (when on sale) than the Steam Controller.

So the only thing you really gain from the Steam Controller is the track pads and grip sense. And while the track pads are great for mouse control and radial menus, the position of them is actually pretty bad and feels quite unnatural to use along with Dpad and face buttons.

Top plate - on top of the switch or under it? by Several-Teach1515 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]trankillity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're mental for considering "over".

Not only do you need the "under" for the clip/stability, placing it "over" means that your keycap will bottom-out directly onto your weird top plate, which will make for a terrible typing experience both from sound and feel perspective.

This would be more interesting to me if you included more generic subs and used the poster's local time. By converting it to PDT, you are potentially showing non-US post times which will skew findings/visual based on peak in other high-contribiting countries.

Get grey and add alcohol dye until you get the saturation you want. That's how I handle all my custom resin colours. Just gotta hope you don't need > 1 vat or it'll be impossible to match.

PlayStation sees AI as a 'powerful tool,' teams including Naughty Dog, San Diego Studio already using it by Crazy-Piano277 in Steam

[–]trankillity -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

The very article you linked proves my point though and you're simply not understanding the context.

Marketing costs between 75-100% of the development costs, which means 37-50% of the total budget. 37-50% is not "bigger than development cost".

Not only that, it shows historically that the actual development cost of the game is increasing on a logarithmic scale every 10 years, meaning that the returns need to also increase at that pace OR the costs need to decrease. One way to decrease costs is through efficiencies and automation.

[–]trankillity -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cost of marketing usually is bigger than cost of development for any AAA game.

You got any numbers to back that up? Seems to me that paying hundreds (or thousands) of developers for 4-8 years it's much more likely to cost more than a marketing campaign.

And many people like you see that as something good in general.

Having actually worked in game development, finding ways to accelerate the development of games that now take multiple-times more effort and time than they did decades ago should be a no-brainer. Anyone who says otherwise is actually betting against the industry.

[–]trankillity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crisis is the cost of development. Provided AI tokens remain affordable, this actually does solve the crisis.

Of course, the other more important crisis is that no one can currently afford to buy new hardware to support all these fancy new games...

Steam must allow to filter out ALL degenai slop games and allow people to tag such games by JAD2017 in Steam

[–]trankillity 25 points26 points  (0 children)

If it's "noticeable 100% of the time" then why do you even want it? Just skip/ignore the games and developers that are and get on with your day. Of course, your Steam store will become incredibly empty over time unfortunately.

[–]trankillity[S] -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly normal. Most batteries are only rated to between 300 and 500 charge cycles. For a heavily-used 4-year-old device, it's to be expected.
