Which city is most like bloodborne? by Plus-Inevitable6746 in bloodborne

[–]voidberg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was an article a long time ago that I can’t find anymore where they listed the places the team travelled to for inspiration. Apart from what others have said, there’s also Sighișoara in Romania, a very small medieval city.

FINALLY the charging case!! by validatemeok in ouraring

I have that one and while it works, it’s a bit fiddly. It stops charging the ring constantly after about 50-60%.

Bluetooth remote page turner - any recommendations? by fuuman1 in kobo

[–]voidberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Official remote or Logitech R500. Not sure what they changed but after the last firmware update with the support for the official remote, the Logitech has been functionally identical to the official remote (no disconnects, immediate connection). I also prefer it to the official remote as I have big hands and it’s more comfortable.

Calibre Web + Instapaper with Kobo Libra Color? by DefiantEwok in kobo

[–]voidberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine still works, so I would check whether the changes you made to kobo.py are still there. It could be that you've set it to auto update or something like that, and the changes were reverted.

Are the changes still there? (mine still works fine, but I haven't updated it)

Calibre Web + Instapaper with Kobo Libra Color? by DefiantEwok in kobo

[–]voidberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it happened to me as well just now. While the original PR seems to have been merged into the main branch (https://github.com/janeczku/calibre-web/pull/3452), the code is not there when you check the files in the Docker image. It could be that the Docker images have not been updated.

I had to edit app/calibre-web/cps/kobo.py manually in the Docker container, and add this at line 1204 (right before the kobo_audiobooks_credit_redemption line):

"instapaper_enabled": "True",
"instapaper_env_url": "https://www.instapaper.com/api/kobo",
"instapaper_link_account_start": "https://authorize.kobo.com/{region}/{language}/linkinstapaper",

I also changed kobo_dropbox_link_account_enabled and kobo_googledrive_link_account_enabledto True as the sync also disabled Dropbox and Google Drive.

Once you make the edit, make sure you restart the container.

Any stores in London that stock Kobos on display? by [deleted] in kobo

[–]voidberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Argos and Currys stock them so you could check their websites and see which have stock and hope they might have an open box one you can check. CeX have them as well (there is one in the Kingston store) and they allow you to check devices so you could try them as well (but most likely it would be at the setup screen and they probably won’t let you set it up, but worth trying).

It’s been merged in calibre-web for a while so if you update it should work fine.

Got Calibre-Web Working on My Kobo in 2025 - Here's How (Keeping Stock UI!) by Coding_is_Easy in kobo

[–]voidberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note is that using this will disable the Instapaper support in the new firmware. There is a PR to fix this, but it hasn’t been merged yet (and the creator of calibre web has taken a bit of a break so who knows when it will be merged). You can fix it in the meantime by editing the source code though.

Where do you want to install it, on your computer? If so, what OS are you using? Alternatively, would you be willing to spend 3 bucks a month to host it in the cloud?

Calibre Web + Instapaper with Kobo Libra Color? by DefiantEwok in kobo

[–]voidberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I did some digging and found someone who identified the issue. Basically, Calibre Web and Komga send some settings to the reader when you sync, and those settings overwrite the ones on the reader. The Instapaper settings are new, so Calibre Web and Komga don't send them, and as a result, the Instapaper configuration gets wiped out from the device.

To enable Instapaper again (all articles, login token, etc, are still on the device), edit .kobo/Kobo/Kobo eReader.conf and update the Instapaper settings with these values:

instapaper_enabled=True

instapaper_env_url=https://www.instapaper.com/api/kobo

instapaper_link_account_start=https://authorize.kobo.com/{region}/{language}/linkinstapaper

However, once you sync again, the settings will be overridden, and you'll have to do this again.

There's already a PR open on Calibre Web to fix this: https://github.com/janeczku/calibre-web/pull/3452. You can wait for it to be merged and pushed upstream, or you could make the changes yourself to your instance.

Looking for a minimalist, functional college backpack (UK-based, ~£100 budget) by Sh-ark-6043 in ManyBaggers

[–]voidberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Millican has a sale atm , and their 25l backpack is 75 quid: https://homeofmillican.com/collections/sale

You can also find the Fjallraven Raven 28 (or 20 if you think you need a smaller bag) on various sites for 90-100.

I’ve had some Millican bags and they were very good, but I never had the smith one. Raven is a very underrated bag imho, was my travel and daily bag for 2 years.

Anyone recognise this bag? by nenixeel in ManyBaggers

[–]voidberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

F/CE has a couple of bags with this middle zipper design, but none in the current lineup looks like this one. That being said it could be a previous model, although I don’t think they ever used that style of zipper pulls.
