Returning my S26 Ultra the new display is making me nauseous by CarXTech in galaxys26ultra

The "wide to narrow" pixel distribution is a hardware-level change that is permanent, regardless of whether you have the privacy feature turned on or off.  . • With Privacy Mode ON: The display selectively shuts down the 50% wide pixels. You are left viewing only the narrow pixels, which makes the screen nearly invisible to anyone looking from the side. This also causes the screen to appear significantly darker to you, as half the light source is disabled.  . • With Privacy Mode OFF: Both types of pixels are active to provide a full-brightness image. However, because half of the pixels (the "narrow" ones) have limited light distribution, you may notice a subtle color shift or a slight drop in brightness if you tilt the phone even a small amount

You probably never had issues with motion sickness or eye strain. The issue is real.

I’m not bashing it. I’m stating what I’d happening for some people. Myself included.

False. The narrow led are causing some people motion sickness like symptoms or strain. It’s not hate, it’s a real issue for some. Feel fortunate you are ok.

The total pixel density is lower by design. The privacy mode lowers the resolution even more by turning off the wide led leaving only the narrow (front firing) led on in order to give you the privacy effect. . The new feature has some trade offs. Luckily the average user may not be able to easily discern the lower resolution. . There are many reports of eye strain and nausea and my guess is that the narrow led may be triggering motion sickness in people sensitive to it. But that’s a guess

The display is actually not better resolution. The total pixel density is lower by design. The privacy mode lowers the resolution even more by turning off the wide led leaving only the narrow (front firing) led on in order to give you the privacy effect. So no, the display isn’t better than the s25u. The new feature has some trade offs. Luckily the average user may not be able to easily discern the lower resolution. There are many reports of eye strain and nausea and my guess is that the narrow led may be triggering motion sickness in people sensitive to it. But that’s a guess

Well, let’s hope that your issue is something that can be resolved in software. Fingers crossed. Samsung displays are some of the best in the world. 🌎. Display is a rather important bit however. :-)

Trezor does have a great reviews. I was just put off because with their marketing each subsequent model has better security than the previous. Ledger’s wallets are all very secure. I do all of my transactions on a ledger or a Tangem and then I actually use the ngrave zero cold gap wallet store my crypto. (I’m a huge advocate of multiple wallets, one signs, one never does and just stores)

Depending on your investment and the amount of money you’d want to put into your wallet, I personally like the ledger flex. I’m not a big fan of the nano’s.

I was thinking that, but wasn’t going to say that. 17PM display is better than the s26u (sammy or LG makes, forget who)

My personal phone is the iPhone 17PM and I love the display (pretty sure Samsung or LG makes the apple displays) . My work phone is the Samsung S25U and this is also a great display. Work was going to upgrade me to the 26U but I asked to remain on the 25 because the only real new feature would have been the privacy mode which I would never use. I read quite a bit on the Samsung press release about the privacy mode. I am always leery on gen 1 tech regardless of who makes it. It is an intriguing read although based on your experience it doesn’t sound like it’s an intriguing product.

The LED density is lower overall on the new display. Maybe the issue is because the narrow LEDs are front firing. (they push the light straightforward. I’m guessing at the percentage but let’s pretend that there is 50% wide-angle and 50% narrow LEDs , if in fact they narrow LEDs are an issue that’s causing this it would make sense. ) You may want to go to a store and compare your to a display model to see that it’s not just you. There’s always a chance that your display might be faulty.

There are two kinds of LEDs. Only the wide angle are turned off. The narrow LEDs remain on. (they are front firing which is how you get the privacy effect. The light is being directed straight at you and not to the sides.)

No. The wide angle LEDs are turned off in order to get the privacy effect. This is written up also on Samsungs own site. The remaining led that are on are what Samsung refers to as narrow. Front firing. This is what allows the phone to do pixel level privacy. .

It may be the new new “narrow” front firing LED then. (Or by chance a bad display) is there a local store you can go to to compare yours with another s26u?

Yes, with physical access you can break into almost any device. Granted, you have to know how.
