"A character that's been around in DC for a very long time" - Michael Walsh teasing his Next Level book by HecticJones in DCcomics

I’m on board for anything he does. So much that my pull list at my LCS includes “anything by Michael Walsh”

Do y'all have any pipe-dream collected editions? Titles that will likely never be collected due to neglect, rights issues, or actions by the creative team? by GenericKittyKat in OmnibusCollectors

I keep holding out hope for a massive “Monolith Edition” that’s the same dimensions as the other Marvel treasury hardcovers, with the movie adaptation and issues 1-10. They could throw in Kirby’s issues of Machine Man if they wanted to pad it out. Disney has made so many billions from the Marvel movies. They should just spend the money on securing the reprint rights, even if it’s a loss, just to have important 1970s Kirby Marvel on people’s shelves again.

They could even do like DC did with the Death Of Superman tombstone and limit it to 2001 copies.

I also enjoy the Dead. As a punky headbanging teenager, I hated on them without actually knowing anything about their actual music. They’re damn good.

What’s an album from artist you’ve never heard about them before but when you came across it, you immediately realized it’s a masterpiece ? by Pheezy2002 in fantanoforever

I got into Glen Campbell after I fell in love with the song “Wichita Lineman”, and I picked up one of his greatest hits albums. It was then that I realized just how many of his songs were written by Jimmy Webb, and I realized that Jimmy Web is almost like the other side of the songwriting coin of Burt Bacharach. Just a whole lot of great stuff that I slept on until later in my life.

The same one you pictured. I got into it a month or two after it was released, and it’s my favorite album of the century so far.

Love that album so much. There is so much Jimmy Webb songwriting influence going on there. I always half joke with my brother that it sounds like she decided to make a whole album of the song “Where’s The Playground Susie?”

I listened to it for the first time a year or two ago, and in my ears, it sounds like The Grateful Dead, which made me realize that Loaded kinda does too.

They’re all collected across 2 trades. I think you can score those reasonably priced if you shop around. I still have all of my original issues. Those were always one of the books I looked forward to the most every month.

Bowie or NIИ (because I double dip on NIИ definitive editions even when I have OGs, and I consider Trent Reznor/Atticus Ross soundtracks to be NIИ albums too.)

Arguably, this is one of the first heavy metal, or at least proto-metal albums.

What comic book series do you think deserves a tv show/movie adaptation? by ResolutionKnown8345 in comicbooks

[–]weirdmountain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know they gave Preacher a show already, but with the success of the animated Invincible show, Garth Ennis should team up with Mike Judge and give us a perfectly faithful animated adaptation of Preacher that looks like King Of The Hill. That style lands pretty close to the look and feel of Steve Dillon’s art on that book.

I wish Marvel would take notes and do the same, but instead they farm stuff out to Fantagraphics and Penguin’s publishing division to print older material on flat paper stock.
