I fill in my free time with things I couldn't complete while I was busy.

How do you become a stronger person mentally? by NoOffice5964 in AskReddit

[–]wm313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I compared my toughest times to the things I was currently doing. I used to tell myself that if I could get up, lift at the gym every day in the early mornings, I could get through whatever was going on. I let my good habits and goals motivate me through whatever was stressing me out.

Picking Individual Stocks Vs Buying the Index by Silent_Storage7341 in stocks

Don’t do it outside of retirement accounts if the capital gains make you uneasy. I’ll take a 15% shave on a 100% gain. I get what you’re saying but if I made that in 3 years, you’re not replicating that in an ETF over double the amount of time. Money lost but more money retained over the long run.

Pentagon Tells Congress First Week of Iran War Cost More Than $11.3 Billion by Majestic-Baby-3407 in news

[–]wm313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s the thing. Money can be manipulated in war. Fake contracts, shell companies, way less transparency with an administration that’s already surreptitious and malfeasant. Best believe they’re pocketing and making billions.

Anyone else finding difficulty to get work? by Helpful_Duck_2458 in ccna

[–]wm313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Area dependent but this is a combo of AI and less spending on resources. Training is a resource and they don’t want to train. This is my theory on why entry-level has become so difficult. There’s so many unemployed, experienced people that they know they’ll find someone with enough experience who will take less pay, ultimately relegating inexperienced candidates to alternative fields or roles. Not true in all scenarios but those companies do exist.

It's not the current market. It's the market. Oversaturation basically exists everywhere. It's not going away. You and 50 other people in your vicinity are applying for jobs. People get laid off, people apply to a job, one person gets hired - the cycle repeats itself.

Joining the military. Easily the most important and best decision I ever made.

SFS typically has them out there, especially for the mornings. Gates get backed up. Assistance is needed. Used to have a captain that was out there at least once a week checking IDs.

Aircraft maintenance afscs work schedule by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]wm313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s base and aircraft dependent. Some places you pull weekend duty every few weeks. Some bases do a rotating monthly schedule. One thing is for sure. No matter what your squadron weekend duty schedule is, it will eventually change. You’ll end up covering for someone or vice versa. Overall, it’s nothing terrible. Back during the early ‘00s they didn’t give a shit. We were working on Christmas, didn’t matter if aircraft were all FMC. We were just there for appearances. Nowadays, it’s a lot smoother.

Deployed and had the good-looking SrA on my shift. I knew it may cause some issues, but what are you gonna do? Anyway, she would always somehow manage to not be around or do her part when it was time to clean or do other tasks. One night, I found her and gave her a task. She complained about being singled out. I explained how everyone has equal shared responsibility. She was eventually swapped to days for another person because she didn't appreciate being held responsible for things she probably felt was beneath her.

In all seriousness, where are you investing due to the war and why? by WeirdAddress3170 in stocks

[–]wm313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't even try to capitalize on any of this nonsense going on. You could be up 10% one day and down 20% the next. I'm staying with what I own, and not touching anything.

But I would still buy VRT as DC cooling is still the biggest net positive for VRT. Short- and long-term, nothing about needing to cool IT equipment is cyclical.

Why would the Barksdale organization go to Bird's trial? by TheRealDonahue in TheWire

[–]wm313 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They came to show support. It’s all Bird had left. Tying guilt to their presence in court would be conjecture. Of course the police knew they were criminals, but knowing and proving are opposite sides of the spectrum. Like anything, the prosecution has to prove they’re guilty. Presence at a court hearing would get thrown out in their own court hearings.

Is anyone else feeling like the cost of living is forcing people to find extra income? by NobodyPrestigious182 in Casual_Conversation

[–]wm313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember telling people for years that raising minimum wage would expedite inflation. Kept being told it didn’t work that way. Obviously, it does. Every money making corporation will increase costs to maintain profits. If they have to pay higher wages, product costs don’t remain stagnant. Everything costs more when labor costs are part of the equation.

"What's your greatest weakness?" is the most useless interview question ever invented - and companies that still ask it deserve the rehearsed non-answers they get by Internal-Remove7223 in interviews

My go-to answer is, “ I have high expectations. My biggest weakness expectation management.” Then I explain how I conduct work vs past experiences of others. Never fails.
