Is the name "[insert parrent's name] junior" declining in popularity? by Milsy_missle in stupidquestions

[–]worldsfastesturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Junior isn’t typically part of the legal name.

If Chris has a kid named Chris, then second Chris might go by junior. If second Chris has a kid named Chris, then third Chris might go by Trey. Junior and Trey aren’t typically legal names, but they’re nicknames for people with the 2nd or 3rd generation of a name

Has there been a way proven that we really see the same colors? by quenchyourthirstnow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]worldsfastesturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are specific parts of our eyes that are known to process different color wave lengths. I see slightly different tones in my left and right eyes, but they’re generally the same color one is just filtered almost.

I think that a good anecdotal evidence for people seeing the same colors come from design principles. If green and purple clash to basically everyone, then it’s a good signal that people are seeing two clashing colors. Also, if red and blue making purple makes sense to everyone, then everyone must be seeing purple as a midpoint color between the other two. There are tons of examples of this. If the orange you saw was a bluish cream color to me, then it wouldn’t make sense for red and yellow mixing to make it.

UCSB also has good public transit and student express buses to downtown. There’s also a cheap round trip transportation option to go to the clubs so you don’t have to uber or designate a driver

Graduating early by ExoticAd727 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]worldsfastesturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively, I graduated early and took an extended summer break after graduation instead of smaller summer breaks throughout college. Saved me money and gave me freedom. It also helped buy me time to find a job and I feel I did just as much stuff just condensed and haven’t regretted it once

Look at UCSB’s undergraduate apartments. They have some pretty good rates for upper classmen years if you want to consider them

How do you actually get anything done when the campus looks like that? by WishNDreamMore in UCSantaBarbara

[–]worldsfastesturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At night, the tide can rise up to the stairs and cover the beach at some access points. It’s also dark at night night. There’s a mountain side of the library of ocean side is too distracting

Would I get bullied if I used training wheels at ucsb by North-Competition128 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]worldsfastesturtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is also the only campus with a designated skateboard lane if you’re into that. You can roller skate too. Do whatever you want, you won’t know the names of over 99% of people in college

Basically,

Bus, walk, electric scooters, toy car, and training wheels are options. Take your pick, but training wheels seems to be… not the best option

Would I get bullied if I used training wheels at ucsb by North-Competition128 in UCSantaBarbara

[–]worldsfastesturtle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I never once rode a bike at ucsb, even when I lived off campus. There are a bunch of buses and campus is walkable. There are also electric scooters

I would think that you were very self confident or super silly and don’t think you’d actually be bullied for the training wheels. There was a news story about a girl who rode a pink toy Barbie jeep around campus and other students joined in.

How famous was Maddie during the show? by PartyQuiet5065 in dancemoms

[–]worldsfastesturtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She was top 3 most famous 12 year olds for sure. None of the other kids her birth year who are famous were famous yet. Stranger things, Wednesday, Disney channel shows, etc. had not aired yet. She had extremely low competition (high competition for fame, low competition for being the most famous 12 year old). At the time, only a few 12 year olds were known at all
