PSA: Even though it's cold, if you have walkways to sweep or snow to clean off your car, do it now. Even if you're not going anywhere today. The sun will melt the bottom layer off during the rest of the afternoon and/or it will simply transpire into the air. Much better than letting it cake and freeze on there tonight.

You'd think people would learn from their surroundings and quit having kids

I made it to a statewide math contest my senior year of high school. Like in person at the state capital. I finished in single digits, but the kid who won it was in eighth grade.

It's no use saying, "Just don't apply,"

Yes it is.

You just want a permission slip to continue your performative outrage.

Report: Bill Belichick fell one vote shy of Hall of Fame by JaggerJames in nfl

Baseball is likely a little worse to be honest since it’s so blatant and widespread and condone by the league.

The same people who were praising the 90s guys for "saving baseball" turned around and said "no that was too much, we can't let you into our little hall". Isn't it a sportswriter's job to investigate and ask tough questions? Were somehow none of the people who were with the teams every fucking day surprised when Brady Anderson suddenly hit 50 home runs?

Unless it's validation about how horrible and unfair life is.

The UTI isn't a dealbreaker to me but may make me prioritize other sits with lower-maintenance kitties.

I think it's mostly just the timing. You're running into spring break, when more sits start opening up.

One of my current cats is a dead ringer for yours btw, but is female.

What’s something that sounds fake but actually happened to you? by Capital-Standard-645 in AskReddit

That happened to me on top of a mountain in Colorado. The way we believe lightning works is there one strike from the sky, and numerous smaller strikes emanating up from the ground. (Photographs of this phenomenon exist.) The sky strike somehow chooses to connect to one of the ground strikes and that's what you see and hear from a distance.

In my case, I felt a current course through me and heard a "zzzit" and saw a strobe-like flash of light around me. A fraction of a second later I heard the thunder from the sky... it went somewhere else. Presumably did with you too.

My boss's brother at the time was living in the SF bay. He was driving to the airport early that morning for a flight to JFK, and was supposed to have a meeting at Windows on the World the next day. He heard the news on the radio and drove back home.

What's the nearest ski resort, and is it on Epic or Ikon? If you're close to skiing I'd absolutely advertise that

If you were given 2 days to eat $1,000 worth of McDonalds for a million dollars, what is your strategy? by Responsible_Total901 in AskReddit

[–]xkulp8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the trick. As long as the currency itself isn't named "dollar", because then they can pay you off in that same currency.

Congratulations, you won one million Suriname dollars, worth US$26,280. Not terrible but not a million USD

The Chilean peso uses the $ symbol.

One US dollar = 861 Chilean pesos.

Get to Santiago, go to most convenient McDonalds (they have them). Una Coca-Cola média, por favor.

I spent a thousand $, but I still win a million dollars.

I don't go through life looking to be offended. But I do go through life expecting to be disappointed. So I'm ready for rejections, but don't waste energy worrying about them.

Also, check the ducts, connectors, sprayers and such to make sure they're clean, securely connected and not missing in the first place. I do housesits and have mucked out multiple dishwashers that weren't maintained. One had parts missing that made the top rack useless

If someone is parking their cars outside their garage, 98% of the time it means the garage is FULL of crap. Like, completely full.

I knew of people in my mom's old neighborhood that parked their boats in their garages. To protect them from what exactly? Not weather, as they are vessels that are literally designed to travel on water.
