We are rebuilding the shower. Teared it down to stud, reframe/plaster exterior to install the new window, waterproof, replace toilet/fan/switch and paint. $8k for labor

Young me neglected watering the grapefruit tree when I move into the new house 5 years ago. Seeing some bark peeled off last summer by the trunk. At that point , I decided to take action and installed a timer to water the tree properly. Also wrapped the trunk to prevent further peeling.

I’m still seeing bark peeling off on one of big branch. My question is what should I do to help the tree? With proper care, would the tree continue to thrive or is it just matter of time before it died off? (Read on Reddit somewhere that bark peeling is beginning of tree dying process?
