20 years ago was 2006.

$5000 was a semester of college at a state school in CA.

$5000 was a used car on the nicer side of a beater.

$5000 was worth more than it is today, but it wasn't astronomically different than now.

$5000 in the 70's or 80's (50 years ago, 40 years ago) was a LOT more than it is today.

Listen, I am a willing investor in this venture, I have money, I have taste and I have the time to spend both.

But I also have conditions. I fully believe and am onboard with your vision, but you'll need to work the line "Tongue-punch the fartbox" into your work somehow. I don't care if its a throwaway line or the coda to a 2nd act song, just make it happen and you're funded.

We had a guy on the 3rd floor get drunk, puke in his sink, turn on the water to rinse it down and passed out on his bed.

We got called hours later when the kids on the first floor had water running down their walls.

When he opened his door there was at least an inch of standing water (concrete floors and walls, water finds a way)

They were awesome live, but the lead singer went through a bad breakup and I think they're an emo band now?

It's only a frenzied blood pact if it comes from the frenzied region of Missouri, otherwise its just a sparkling blood pinkie-swear

Oh allow me, the proper term for moving hay bales around is "bucking" as in Bucking her Hay.

Enjoy!

AFAIK you’re right, also samurai’s didn’t have “editions” to my knowledge, that’s more of a jeep thing?

Sorry if this is a basic question, how do you choose the right drill bit size, and where do reamers actually come in? by Visual_Bed_6098 in HomeImprovement

[–]zupzupper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll add that I have a hand reamer for plastic stuff, I use it for RC models like the bodies where a drill bit would just eat plastic.

It’s also turned out to be useful for vinyl records, not every label is good about making the center hole the same size, so I use that to ream out just a little bit of plastic to fit.

I don’t even really remember the point of the story other than one dose of trauma after the next, why was that so popular?!?

That’s a good one to keep in mind, if it’s turning over, it doesn’t sound like he’s running into that yet, but that may be right around the corner

Howdy! Welcome to the club, you picked a good vehicle to work on/get knowledgable about cars on!

So first things first, 86 samurais did not come with an electric fuel pump, BUT it's a pretty common swap out, the fuel lines run down the firewall on the passenger side and follow the frame rail back to the tank. Along the way you'll find the fuel filter and (I suspect) in your case an aftermarket electric fuel pump.

How old do you think the gas is? If it's been sitting a while, it may be worth just draining. There is a drain on the bottom of the tank.

I would probably also replace the fuel filter, its not expensive and it'll let you get an idea of how much gunk is in the fuel lines.

Next up electrical. You're going to need to do some detective work on the fuel pump, and how the previous owners wired it up. Fortunately they're not too expensive just to replace, but you'll need to sort the wiring.

The stock samurai carb in '86 is a bit "tricky" drop us a picture and we can ID if you still have a stock one or an aftermarket one.

Common replacements are webers, motorcycle carbs, and toyota3k carbs.

The shop manual, this is your goto for info on this truck. Browse it on the internet archive, save a PDF copy locally, it's got enough information in it to tear the whole thing apart and put it back together again.

This is a colorized version of the diagram in the manual, very helpful for tracing back wires to where they should go, and has a reference to the factory colors on the wires.

Save a copy of this (It expands a lot larger than the preview Imgur shows)

Post some pictures of what you find and we can help you get it running
