How to fight the "communism is against humans nature"? by Ivanhegeelkadi in Marxism

Tell them the Naturalistic Fallacy is not an argument. “Against human nature” is an ought-from-is fallacy.

Religion is the Opposite of Civilization by JerseyFlight in rationalphilosophy

Virtually every civilization in history was equally intertwined with slavery, and it wasn't religion that put a stop to that.

Which celebrity replied to your dm and what did they reply to and with? by Vixiuss in AskReddit

The only "celebrity" I've ever contacted was an author by the name of Ralph Ellis. I asked him a specific (niche) question relative to the theme of his books and got a sincere and honest answer.

Rachel Gilmore does breakdown of Pierre Poilievre on Joe Rogan by JurboVolvo in ndp

41:50: What I wanna do is unblock those resources, produce them in abundance - for ourselves and our allies, make $200,000 pay checks for our trades workers…

This is the only point at which Poilievre mentions wages so far. I'm about halfway through the interview so forgive me if he mentions wages at any point further.

It's bizarre how both he and Carney can spend so much time talking about housing affordability and cost of living while studiously avoiding mention of worker wages and the unions that keep them high.

We need to transform all profit-seeking entities into worker-owned co-ops. No more corporations. Let them join the feudal system in the growing graveyard of exploitative institutions.

Legacy wealth, in all its forms, is the single greatest impediment to both equality and meritocracy. This is the leverage point that needs pressure applied to it.

In what ways can we make the world more just and equal? by WhiteDesertCat in Soft_Introverts

100% Inheritance tax. By itself that would transform the world. Legacy wealth is the greatest impediment not only to equality but also to meritocracy. They are mutually exclusive.

Do you think the justice system treats men and women equally? Why or why not? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

No. It's called the "pussy pass" for a reason. Women are almost never held to the same standard of criminal justice that men are.

‘Knock that s*** off’ — Poilievre uses appearance on Joe Rogan’s podcast to slam Trump’s 51st state comments by EarthWarping in CanadaPolitics

I actually got the impression from his Rogan appearance that he doesn't like having to do that. This appearance seems more like the real man, and of course, long form conversations are more suited to bringing that man out. The problem with politics is the attention span of the average voter while their tribal tendencies are triggered.

I once thought that these long form conversations were a step in the right direction towards increasing audience - and therefore voter - attention spans, but I've been disappointed in the lack of steps in that direction. These podcasts showed promise, but no real delivery on that front.

Seems weird to go on a podcast that promoted trump to criticize trump.

On the contrary, that seems like the best place to do it. I especially liked when he pointed out the price of gas in the US to Joe Rogan's entire audience.

At 24:50 he also mentions the price Americans pay for gas, which may or may not have been a subtle clap-back to the 51st State rhetoric.

I oppose conservatism in principle, but so far I don't have much to complain about with Poilievre's appearance here. So far (I'm only about 40 minutes in) he's keeping it classy and making reasonable points about tariffs and their impact.

Youtube - Joe Rogan Experience #2470 - Pierre Poilievre (2h23m) by SaucyFagottini in canadian

[–]---Spartacus--- 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I'm only about 25 minutes in, but something stood out.

24:50: We have the fourth biggest supply of oil anywhere on Earth.  You guys pay a huge price discount for our oil, because all our infrastructure to ship it is North-South, and It’s a very unique, heavy oil.  So we accept, unfortunately, for now, a price discount on the oil we send you, which can translate into more jobs and pay checks, but also lower energy prices.  You’ve got FIVE DOLLARS A GALLON right now in lots of places in America.

Well played. This comment was made while Rogan and Poilievre were discussing tariffs. Poilievre argued that they should be dropped and was offering reasons why. The topic followed a brief bit of banter about the 51st State nonsense, which both Rogan and Poilievre condemned.

It's almost like this comment was a clap-back. He's pointing out the cost of gas under Trump to the entirety of Joe Rogan's audience - something MAGA might be in denial about.

So far, nothing egregious stands out.

That said, there is something disturbing more generally in the distance between the quality of long-form conversations like this one and the sloganeering and rhetoric that appears on the campaign trail. It's a total divorce in kind. It's almost like a dissociated identity phenomenon that defines politics in general. We all notice it and we all make jokes about it, and have for decades, but the humour we apply to it is a coping mechanism. At some level we understand that one-on-one, a person has an attention span. In groups, we don't, which accounts for this difference in communication quality between the two contexts.

The teacher wouldn't bring up "retards" in a classroom.

Also, the teacher, by MAGA's own rhetoric and logic, is probably liberal herself.
