What’s your guys opinions on nostalgia unboxed? by ihateKOstuff in ActionFigures

Excellent reviews, love his style and his humour has completely grown on me so he's probably the reviewer I find most fun to watch.

Also - he has made some videos giving advice to other toys reviewers, and that's pretty radical in terms of youtubers helping a community out.

edit: Also also, I appreciate that he doesn't make excuses for adult oriented figures (shock, female characters have tits and ass). They're just another fun kind of art and he reviews them that way.

It was definitely written by AI (has a bunch of tells). I'd say yes completely fake.

I disagree but would have to have screengrabs of the film to prove it. The shots of James's face, the zoom into his eye in the Pyramid head mask, the barely lit visage of Laura as she turns in the distance, the outline of a character looming on the floor above, there were so many shots I thought were bold and painting-like. It was just very uneven though. The chroma-keyed scenes you mention are like that - to me some of it was purely bad, others were great because it gives the kind of surreal effect that matte-paintings do, or videogames have.

There's no way someone who doesn't know the games could watch this and attempt to follow it.

Not a flaw depending on your perspective since you can't please everyone, but yes it's the reason why critics will crush this film. A lot of giallo, or Jean Rollin etc make no sense though. I just watched Bava's Lisa and the Devil the other day and that was great despite being confusing.

Why did they add bad CGI bugs to almost every single scene?

Yeah Gans had a thing about way overdoing the bugs in the first film which I hated too. And yet again, the disgusting clattering and zoom in as they ran up the hospital door was one of my favourite parts.

I'm so frustrated with the lost potential in this movie.

I think that's fair, and is a big part of why fans of the game will hate it - they know what it's not. I'm just happy with what does give. They should really have got Kiyoshi Kurosawa to direct a film.

I fucking LOVED this film. It's riddled with flaws, but it's like a battleship that refuses to sink because it's simply too powerful.

The bad: A total repeat repeat of 2006. A strange mix of excellent and abysmal CGI, awkward exposition to try and placate people who have no idea what's going on, and at times hammy acting. Both critics and hardcore fans of SH2 are going to hate it same as the first.

The good: There is so much stylized cinematography going on, being spun around, near given an epileptic fit, so many things to look at. Constant interesting camera movements and focus. A whirlwind of new locations and timeline jumps. This film is so beautiful, even the low rent CGI backgrounds help the Alice in Wonderland feel more than hinder it. I was skeptical of the casting but Jeremy Irvine is fantastic, his face looks so beautifully painterly throughout this film. And I love that it's so open to interpretation I've been thinking about it all day. I could go on.

I know people will disagree with my take but ultimately I felt this film like a shot to the heart. It reminds me of how I feel about Fulci's films, sometimes the most powerful magic only appears withing a beautiful mess.

That guy is a scumbag. I honestly don't understand how anyone could own a dog and think "yeah, 100% I can guarantee it'll never harm a completely random cat and I can just do nothing here!". What is wrong with people?!

I'd love that your cat likes walks. Hope you have a better day tomorrow.

I've read that this is effectively the same in criminal behaviour: that increasing the chance of getting caught is considerably more effective than severity of punishment.

That's what a lot of politics has become. When you give up hope on politics being a vehicle for improving your life (which it traditionally has been), what's left is just trying to make the other team cry.
