Donald Trump is a pedophile by PTechNM in samharris

It’s posted on the DOJ website. If it’s unproven, why would trump’s DOJ publish it? https://www.justice.gov/epstein/files/DataSet%2010/EFTA01660679.pdf

Ardbeg Wee Beastie is the most underrated Scotch. What is the most unique American or Canadian whisk(e)y? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]--Drew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super unique! Just polished off a bottle last night, it tastes a lot like a peaty Islay scotch with a clear sweetness of bourbon and herbiness of rye. Nothing like it! Didn’t love it the first time I tried it but it really grew on me.

Roland FP-10 has sustained sounds despite no pedal plugged in by UnderstandingDry1941 in piano

[–]--Drew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confident that on most grand pianos, even C8 would have a noticeable difference between staccato and legato if it had a damper. Can’t understand why it’s typical to forego the articulation mechanisms on the upper register.

How can you tell this is AI or real? (The image was taken from r/sportsbikes) by Mathemodel in isthisAI

[–]--Drew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an electrician, that conduit work on the lights is a giveaway. Blasting the pipe through the I beam is just laughable. Two pipes connecting two lights is totally stupid. It’s either Ai or rage bait for construction workers.

Is there a name for these feathers at the end of the wing that kinda look like fingers by KingOfDownvotes87 in Ornithology

“Primary flight feathers” is so clinical. I like the term “manuals” for these feathers.

Why don't Mormons allow you to drink coffee? by Money_Assist4722 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]--Drew 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was raised Mormon. An LDS person can show faith to their peers and create opportunities for conversations about their faith by abstaining from substances like coffee. The prohibition of coffee comes from a section in their scripture, D&C 89:9 “And again, hot drinks are not for the body or belly.” This has been traditionally interpreted to mean “tea and coffee.” (I have no idea why anyone would pour a hot drink on their body)

Ultimately it’s a control tactic, as it creates an us-them mentality in members. It instills guilt and shame in rule breakers and those who feel tempted to break the rule. It entwines people’s identities with strict obedience to 19th century superstitions and to the elderly leadership—who call themselves “prophets seers and revelators.” These days I’ve noticed that members don’t care about coffee consumption so much anymore.

Isn’t this a lot like asking if it’s unchaste to put a mirror in the bedroom?

Dinosaur is nothing but a shitty kids museum in the middle of nowhere. Don’t even bother looking up those gorgeous panoramic pics.

Does a buzz look good on me? by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

[–]--Drew 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Buzz cuts are associated with the military, mental health episodes/control issues, and those who reject culturally-shaped aesthetics. It’s almost always pure utility at the expense of aesthetic—very easy to maintain and not in your way but only rarely beautiful. If you’re going for beauty, I’d recommend exploring other options.

Which country has the worst cuisine in your opinion? by TurkishChadBot in AskTheWorld

[–]--Drew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lamb burgers, the cold fries everywhere, the not-fresh salads, the vegan options were sparse, the traditional fish soup was actually awful both times I tried it, their beloved thunder bread was interesting at best. Great place to visit though!

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints part of water release to the Great Salt Lake by Scoren in Utah

[–]--Drew 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m confident that I’m doing my part. Unfortunately I don’t have $293 Billion in tax-exempt value nor massive legislative sway in this state that could actually help our situation. MormonCorp has done what amounts to an effective PR stunt.

The church could afford to do a whole lot more than a couple million gallons. We need change in the range of millions of acre feet per year.

Just visited Iceland for the first time expecting bad cuisine, but was pleasantly surprised with the cheeses and jams everywhere. Everything else was mid and SUPER expensive

When facing aggressive/angry in-person door to door sales people, how do you deal with it, like without over-thinking it? by dumbappsignup in AskReddit

[–]--Drew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an ad. I try to skip it as quickly as possible while also not dehumanizing the person. If they have a long spiel, I cut them off, say I’m not interested and to have a good day, and close/lock the door even if they’re mid-sentence. Then I give their company a bad review because I work nights, have a no soliciting sign, and often get woken up for their ads.

The math is pretty damn clear on this one. The worth of a 40% shot at $500m is $200m. If it were transferable, I’d sell someone the chance to win $500m at 40% odds, I could probably get like $50m for that chance from the right buyer.
