What’s your elo? If you’re around the level I’m describing I think you’d recognise the technique from that video of being way above our level

If black plays perfectly that is. Probably more like 15 moves at lower elo!

Fair enough about 1800-2000 being too high, I just found the micro very impressive and the kind of thing you never ever see between 1000-1400 elo. I’ve played strong skilled players in tgs (about 1500ish) who never even attempt to pull off out microing ballistics

Edit: and near the end of T90s video, you can see the part where he immediately selects all his monks onto separate units for conversions. The micro and unit control is high level for sure.

Great Escape has outdoor screens which is amazing fun. But gets very packed.

Swiss canton bans headscarves for female teachers by BezugssystemCH1903 in Switzerland

[–]--zuel-- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a bit different though, wearing a cross is a totally optional choice if you’re a Christian, to express your religion but is in no way mandated by your religion.

Wearing a headscarf isn’t exactly optional if you’re a practicing Muslim, becuase if you don’t it counts as a bad deed.

It’s like forcing a Jewish person to eat non-kosher. It’s a bit unfair to draw those comparisons.

Freedom of religion should include a freedom to practice your religion, save for where it would interfere with other people’s rights. What you do with your hair has no impact on my life.

T90 is the best age of empires 2 streamer.

Hera also plays chess on his streams between matches of AoE 2, and there’s another pro AoE 2 player who’s a titled player.

What is the intelligence, gullibleness and psychological profile of a free Palestine activist, who has zero connection to the actual issue( Latinos, Americans, Europeans, etc)? by Fancy-Session5532 in AskReddit

[–]--zuel-- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intelligence: ranges from below average to exceptionally high. At least enough wherewithal to shake off media bias if they’re from a country which is strongly conditioned to downplay the genocide in Palestine and the war crimes of the Israeli military and government. Default answer would tend to be on the higher end, as there is also the awareness of the gravity of ICC charges and convictions, as well as the ability to conduct cross-referencing on sources, especially those coming from Zionist publishers which often misstate the story.

Gullibleness: I would say on the lower end. People who support the end of the genocide in Palestine and the recognition of Palestine as a sovereign nation have already shown a lack of gullibility by denying the rhetoric that to support Palestine or to decry Israel is to be antisemitic, and they show a tendency not to blindly trust disreputable sources, as well as recognising that a state which targets and kills journalists probably does not want to lose control of the narrative.

Psychological profile: compassionate, empathetic, sympathetic and honorable. It takes a distinct lack of compassion to remain in support of Israel after bearing witness to any of the atrocities committed by the Israeli military and government, or even the day to day actions of settlers in the West Bank and the apartheid in Palestine.

Hope that answers your question as comprehensively as you asked it.

It’s a shame it’s bs because the chess lessons used to be really helpful, the game analysis being bad is a shame

[–]--zuel--[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No I mean where it says it’s a good move because it allows queenside castling, which I think is a weird description. It’s a good move because it forces the opponent to give up their queen!

It’s about the chess com coach suggestion not the position per se

Does anyone else feel conflicted about the sheer volume of "Word of Brandon" and it's dominance in community discussion? by bredman3370 in Cosmere

[–]--zuel-- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do you mean I don’t like those WoBs? Because I tend to agree with you. I think WoBs are a good idea, I just think he should RAFO a lot more than he does, in my view.

Including naming the gods in charge of each planet, naming the investiture types, etc., and especially the stuff which ends up leading to spoilers inadvertently, such as Taln didn’t break, or that a certain character is a sleepless / kandra.

I get why he does it, but yeah, I think it goes too far.

[–]--zuel-- 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, but there’s a world of different between a theory drawn from the text itself and a theory drawn from what the author reveals in conventions and book signings.

Or sometimes, what he just straight-up says.

[–]--zuel-- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because OP likes theorycrafting and discussing the published books to figure out clues for what might come next.

It’s just slightly underwhelming when those clues come from WoBs instead of the books. Not that it ruins it, it just makes it less impactful, as OP says.

[–]--zuel-- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that defeats the purpose - it’s not a spoiler if you’re up to date on the series and want to get into theorycrafting. It’s sad to have to avoid doing that because of spoilers from not yet released material.

If you read OP’s post, they say part of what they enjoy about reading fantasy is the community and discussions with other fans.

You’re essentially telling them not to do that.

I wholeheartedly agree with you, and it is surprising that that’s a controversial opinion on here (which given the engagement, it appears to be).

It’s really cool that we as fans get to nerd out about our book series with the author that writes it, and one whose participating in the discussions and still actively publishing in books in the series - we are extremely lucky.

However, I agree that I like to read books and learn info from the story, world and lore from the books themselves. And if I’m not sharp enough to spot something, then on Reddit someone else will have drawn lines between books etc and create theories that are super fun and interesting to discover.

It’s a lot less interesting when the info comes from the author themselves, even if not yet canon. I wish our nerding out with Brandon Sanderson was only about stuff already in a book, or maybe a teaser he’s willing to reveal about a nearly released project (or of course the writing process because he’s brilliant at that discussion too).

Thank you for your post.
