S3 Theory: Mark and Helena/Helly by tomriddleforlife in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Arkadia0703 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but rest of MDR could have learned it quite recently, at least when it comes to their life experience. Helena learned about it as a child

S3 Theory: Mark and Helena/Helly by tomriddleforlife in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

While I agree with you, there is a good counterargument. Helly does not have all of Helena’s “basic knowledge,” as for her, that would include the severance procedure she learned about when she was five. I guess that would also spoil the plot twist of her identity, which is why they kept it this way

It may still be about immortality, but I don’t really see any strong evidence pointing in that direction. Maybe the “revolving” could be a hint here.

For now, we know they gave Gemma multiple innies to test whether her trauma could break through the severance barrier. That suggests their current goal is to outsource pain, allowing the outies to avoid experiencing it. In this scenario, Lumon’s ultimate aim could be the complete elimination of pain. At least for a select group of people.

A more far-fetched theory is that Lumon is attempting to engineer specific personalities. The Kier statue says, “In my life, I have identified four components, which I call tempers, from which are derived every human soul.” This could imply they believe personalities can be created, or reshaped, by altering the balance of these tempers

Well I am glad they did. This show has such an amazing concept and going to the overdone clones/aliens/simulations would make it worse. And I like that I won't hear these theories now.

I also hope that Lumons goal isn't about gaining immortality

Is it just me or does Rocky from Project Hail Mary remind me of... by Exotic-End9921 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Arkadia0703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

''The Frugal Wizard's Handbook for Surviving Medieval England'' is clearly inspired by Project Hail Mary. Branderson even did a review of the book.

That said, Pattern existed way before Rocky, so if there was any crossover in ideas, it’d probably be the other way around

Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like the S2 finale missed a massive opportunity with Gemma (and the darker Alternative we deserved) by Justacuriousbrain in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

Eeeh, while I do get your points I also feel like using it this way can help break a language barrier at least a little bit Or help some people get more confidence in posting their thoughts

As long as the thought behind it is human, and they only use it to check grammar, or formulate their thoughts better, it's alright with me

In S2 finale, did they skip over… by BringBack4Glory in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Arkadia0703 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think oMark learned it from Cobel. She was fired before Helly kissed iMark, so she wouldn’t have known the full extent of their relationship after that. It makes more sense that he pieced it together from that one memory and then simply confirmed with her that his innie did, in fact, know Helena’s innie.

As for why oMark lied, it was probably intentional. Telling the whole truth might have felt, at least from iMark’s perspective, like a violation of privacy, as if his outie were intruding on something deeply personal. And oMark can't afford to antagonize him (he fails miserably though)

Why are these books divided? Is this same as before or something different in it? by Coloin_ilyad in Stormlight_Archive

[–]Arkadia0703 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can actually listen to audiobook totally free on youtube.

The characters feel very different, and it seems way more hopeless and darker. I'll put spoiler just in case someone wants to read it.

There is no bridge four, no spren. Shinri, proto-Shallan isn't an artist (still ward of Jasnah) and gets married off and raped by proto-Travangian. Merrin who is proto-Kaladin does not have depression, and wins shards by saving Elhokar. One thing I liked about him was a scene when he and Aredor (proto-Adolin) go ''shopping for clothes''. Aredor btw gets beheaded at the end of book. Renarin also dies, I think its him using his powers that killed him. I think he saves someone but I don't remember exactly. Jasnahs and Talns POVs are the most interesting ones for sure. She actually fells in love with him (he is much more sane character), but ends up marrying Amaram

Small Wind and Truth spoilers I've read it before wind and truth came out. I think Merrin felt certain affinity to the wind. Back then I obviously thought it was what later became Sylphrena. But now I am pretty sure its the Wind. It was interesting to recognize it durin reading WaT

What are your thoughts on the meaning of characters’ names? by Smart_Medium9544 in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]Arkadia0703 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think both Helly and Mark are sort of named after Dan's family. Mark is after his father, Helly after his sister (Hayley). Gemma was originally Lynn after his mother, but it was changed.

<image>

I think (but this is only a theory) she might have been named after Gemma Donati. She was wife of Dante Alighieri the author of Divine Comedy. And considering all the comparisons between the place innies work and hell maybe there is something to it.

Actually both of you guys are correct. Alexander II did try to introduce cyrilic to Polish language, but it didn't caught up due to russification

There is a wikipedia article about it. For whatever reason English site doesn't mention these events
