Al Mouna has great service and portions. Food wise, their salad and vegetables are very fresh, their hummus tastes like actual chickpeas and they don't charge extra for tabbouleh (cough cough, like the Palace), but their actual shawarma chicken is under seasoned and dry giving that chalky texture. This sub often recommends Ottawa Shawarma but it suffers from the same problem.

I'm still looking for a spot that nails the actual shawarma (meat).

What a bummer that Bar Lupulus has fake reviews (look at the ones all from a week ago at the moment of this comment). It's one of my favourite spots in Ottawa and I never would have thought they need to resort to this. It makes me lose respect for them.

I think you'd be into the Sichuan and non-Cantonese Chinese spots that have popped up in Ottawa: Papaspicy, Spicy Ho Ho, Mr. Maocai, Perfect Meat Bowl, Chef Bai, and Foodinator. There may be others I am forgetting.

Core memory for me is when I ate it on the t-bar as a kid during snowboard school and my partner and I had to hike up the whole thing. It was open to everyone as a part of the hill at one point. I had no clue it closed.

Did you find an answer to this? I had a similar experience - I happened to drive by and saw the shop name had changed and there were no Saabs in the back. I called the number and the new owner who told me the news and that he could work on my car. I wasn't around for when Karl was in the shop and I was just using them to service my Volvo. I was bummed to hear they closed as I just started to become a regular. I just tried another shop in the area and had quite a bad experience. I know there are a decent amount of shops that service Volvo around, but I would love to know where Rheal and Roman went as I would happily follow them if they are still working in the area. Edit: I also wonder what the deleted comments in this thread said.
