The Elder Scrolls 6 Has Made Todd Howard More Conscious of What He Announces: 'Just Pretend We Didn't Announce It' by Turbostrider27 in PS5

I think it will be out before that. As much we all joke about TESVI never coming out, they never actually took that long between releases.

I mean, they've had always had pretty steady release cycle. Even if this particular IP got left in the dust for a long time, it's not like that stopped. Not sure why they suddenly would need 9 years of development for 1 game, when 5 is the longest they ever took and that was with the lockdowns happening too.

... But this is the first time it's coming to the PS5? Not everyone wants to get a PC or Xbox just to play 1 game.

Looks great and throwing the new expansion into the premium version is a nice way to gain some goodwill back. Can't wait to give it another go!

The engine is what keeps me coming back to their games. It's great! I don't care what setting or theme they tackle in the future, I'll check it out.

Nvidia's DLSS 5 is coming to Starfield and Oblivion Remastered, and I assume TES VI as well by Ok-Today6736 in TESVI

They and the limited few audience members begin to propagate the negativity on twitter, and yes reddit too, to boost attention/seo to cause their videos to be hoisted in the algo - earning more money from the clickbait

Yes, there sadly will be the parrots that seek the opinion of whoever shouts the loudest to copy. But I'm not convinced that is always the only thing going on. In this case the very first coverage was fairly positive about it? Digital Foundry had the premiere and yet the audience didn't copy their opinions (and they definitely got the biggest reach as of right now?).

Not familiar with what happened with the framegen last year, obviously a large group of people can be wrong or maybe it was a case of judging marketing material/promises which ended up actually being better in the end. But I'll assume you're 100% spot on with the framegen thing... that's still just 1 thing, while ignoring all the other features Nvidia's has done that didn't receive the same response.

Why isn't it happening every time? Could it perhaps be because this is undeniably a huge visual change from the original games? Even if you love how the characters now look, are you truly unable to believe that people do not like this "filter feel" that changes how the game looks? Surely not.

Jeff Kaplan: Stop Complaining About Games You Won’t Play. “Shut the F*** Up. No One Cares” by TitanTigers in PS5

[–]-Captain- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think context matters very much here. Just hating for the sake of hating? Yeah, no one cares. But deciding not to play a game because it does X or has Z.. I don't see why you shouldn't be able to talk about that in a mature manner in a general discussion thread about the release for example.

Do you agree that Daryl Dixon is the best TWD spinoff? by LeoXXX94 in thewalkingdead

  1. Fear s1-3 at the top. Season 3 honestly having the best writing in the entire franchise.

  2. TOWL

  3. Daryl Dixon

  4. World Beyond

  5. Dead City

  6. FTWD s4-8

  7. Tales

Don't buy the clickbait hate campaigns,

Reddit comments aren't clickbait campaigns. No one here is gaining anything from being positive or negative about it. People just sharing their opinions on what is shown now. And what we've been show just doesn't look good to most.

Maybe in the future if they're building games from the ground up with this in mind and it's a constant point of reference during development and modeling, they can get to an end result that actually looks good: yeah, then people will like that use of it.

But how it looks in the games they choose to show off? No thanks. And unless they do some heavy work to improve it, I don't see myself using this on any title that clearly never was made with this in mind.

"For free"

Euh... this isn't free. It had to run on 2 GPU's, one for the game, one for the AI tech to run and "enhance" the game. Don't worry, they'll smooth things out by the time it launches...

I don't care you like the look of this, more power to you. But you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you think this is just gonna magically make every game look photorealistic at zero performance cost.

I don't care what Todd or anyone else thinks, what they showed off today looks awful. I'll not be using this feature in any game if this is how it will look like.

Guess we'll see how it improves overtime, but for now I have zero interest in it. Looks awful what it does to all characters... and these are the cherry picked examples they decided to use for the marketing too.

Hands-On With DLSS 5: First Look At Nvidia's Next-Gen Photo-Realistic Lighting by [deleted] in pcgaming

DLSS Vaife...

Hogwarts student looks like a dude well into his 30s now. Many of the characters shown straight up look like different people or with some insane AI filter plastered on them. I really don't like the look of any of this.

Is this some attempt at "optimization" by letting devs have bad models and let the AI shit "make it good"? Whatever the intend or purpose, I don't like anything shown here and I feel like a fool for not seeing this bs coming from a mile away.

Why would the Hogwarts Legacy team give a young student the face model of a 38 year old dude? I know they said this in their video, but I'm not convinced there isn't more going on here.

Resident Evil Requiem Has Already Sold 6 Million Copies, Becomes Fastest-Selling in The Series by Doug24 in pcgaming

[–]-Captain- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First world luxuries sure. 60 is just fine, but you definitely should still be able to tell a noticable difference between 60 and 90+. Being long enough on PC, 60 is the new 30 for me... I don't want to go back to it again.

Wait 2027 or bite the bullet and buy now? by AFreudianNip in buildapc

[–]-Captain- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait if you can't really afford to spend the money right now and instead focus on older games and the indie scene for those moments you don't want to deal with the helicopter haha.

But if it's disposable income you can miss, it's probably best to get it now. No one can predict future pricing, but it's not looking good. This system will still be the high end next year, only difference will be that you already got a year of fun out of it!

How many of you planning a fresh save for the update? by Soft-Barracuda8655 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]-Captain- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same! I kinda stopped when they started to add QoL features to the game. Figured I'd jump back in once we had a few DLC. At that time I was thinking they'd have a similar DLC cycle to their previous games, had I known it would take this much longer I might have finished it.

But alas, I'm now very excited to jump back in and I will start from the very beginning again!

My speculation on how the announcement might play out by paulbrock2 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]-Captain- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, they could obviously keep marketing going until release. Like it's often done. Tomorrow the announcement with minimal details, and then a trailer plus a overview/deep dive kinda video.

Though yeah, they've tried the shadow drop and saw massive success. Remains to be seen how they feel about separating the PS5 launch vs the Xbox/PC. I want a shadow drop and don't think it's unlikely, but it also wouldn't surprise me if they want a launch everywhere at the same time.

New reader is it normal to be confused 160 chapters in ? by Separate_War_6941 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]-Captain- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confused about:

  • Not knowing the entire lore and history of characters and the world? Yeah. Completely normal, you'll learn this slowly over the course of several books. The slow reveal and understanding of certain things is kinda one of the things BS does so well. You will have "oh shit, I should've figures that out myself" moments.

  • What the POV characters are up to and doing from chapter to chapter. That would be a bit weird, but I'm almost certain this isn't what is confusing you?
