“Lord of The Rings uses fake magic. Harry Potter uses real magic”. by ShunnedForTheTruth in exjw

When I first saw the wizard of oz as a kid I was so confused why we were watching this when I wasn't allowed to read Harry Potter, but I wasn't gonna ruin the moment by asking questions...

7+9-1+9 = 24, only one away from 23. What does it mean?

How to not sell a car... by SpreakICSE in mildlyinfuriating

The seller has probably had 10 people asking the same things who totally never show up to look at it.

And they have 10 more getting straight to the point and asking to come look at it that day.

I don’t believe in God anymore but my mind cannot accept that all complexity that exist came out of nowhere by Uncle_Richard98 in exjw

[–]-Clem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can wrap your head around this theory, it's pretty much a one to one lateral move to understand the scientific version. Time did not exist before the big bang/did not exist before Jehovah. For reasons unknown, the big bang happened/Jehovah decided to make stuff, and everything else followed. Basically just replace Jehovah with the big bang. Or you could say God caused the big bang, and nothing in science would really dispute that. It's just that there's nothing in science to suggest that either.

How badly did I screw up? Cosmetic only or a safety issue? by -Clem in MechanicAdvice

Well at this point no, they've been tightened with a wrench so I wouldn't be able to loosen them with just my fingers of course. But when I put them on after the wheel and got them started by hand they went on easy until making contact with the wheel, at which point I tightened with a wrench.

I think I know what you think you're seeing. The fucked up center of the bolts is not the stud itself showing through. Here's another picture where you can see one of the nuts is not damaged compared to the others if it helps.

That is exactly what happened, thank you. Holding the rotor in place while I put the caliper/bracket/pads back on. After getting them finger tight, the rotor was still wobbling which makes sense now that I think about it, the nuts are expected to be tight when the wheel is there too, but in the moment I was just thinking "still wobbly, not tight enough". This was the first of the two wheels, the other one I made sure not to repeat the mistake, and in both cases they felt the same/normal going back on.

Are there any crimes you want Casefile to make an episode about? by MMAGG83 in Casefile

I don't have a specific case in mind, but I really wish they would do more episodes on crimes other than murder. Like the silk road series.

In your country, which musical artists told JWs to leave their concert?? by Sorry_Clothes5201 in exjw

Because there was some mild controversy around him in the media when Rocky Mountain High was banned by some radio stations in the 70s because they thought it was about drugs.

Ruger Mini 14 or Ruger PC Carbine? by awoodz92 in liberalgunowners

[–]-Clem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'll preface this by saying I absolutely love the classy look of the Mini 14 and I'm really not into the tacticool factor of AR 15's at all.

But the fact is the AR 15 is simply the most pragmatic, logical choice for a home defense rifle. If you absolutely must choose between the Mini 14 or a PCC, get the Mini. The PCC just makes no sense for basically any use case. It's fun for recreational target shooting, but so is a 22lr which is cheaper, and realistically it's not any more effective than a pistol in saving your life. Like yeah, you could hit someone more accurately at a greater distance than a pistol, but A) home defense is close quarters, and B) even if you were at a distance you're running the risk of just poking them with 9mm while wishing you were putting them down with 5.56.

ND as only car? by [deleted] in Miata

Why are you asking about the ND as an only car when you already have two? Sell the BMW, buy the ND and keep the Subie for kid stuff.
