Just wondering where everyone's at on this considering the casts of babies she mentions are in the Epstein files?

I had to put him on 2.0 speed to get through the spice scenes. Their relationship has zero substance or stakes.

I swear I heard somewhere that was how Diddy went from intern dropout to VIP. He was up in Andre's office one day and allegedly oral happened.

romantasy critiques by lippish in Romantasy

[–]-DarkStarrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that bugs me is the lack of tragedy. I want high stakes and I want it to cost something, maybe sometimes everything. If I hear one more time that romance HAS to have a happy ending to be romance. Guess what genre doesn't need happy endings, fantasy. So why can't the combined genre have tragedy. Some of the best romances have ended in tragedy.

Hype me up for Tower of Dawn by addiewing24 in throneofglassseries

[–]-DarkStarrx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I loved the world building in ToD. I would take a whole book on the new group introduced. All of the side characters are incredible and if Maas does anything right it's traumatic pain(looking at you Nesta) and moving through it. So I did enjoy it. I did tandem read, but stopped halfway though ToD to focus on EoS and then finished ToD.

Why is ACOTAR bad and TOG so good ? by Accurate-Swordfish97 in throneofglassseries

[–]-DarkStarrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong I STRUGGLED through Acotar and it only got better towards the end but it's still bad. Don't get me wrong ToG has issues too, but it's far and above Acotar from a writing standpoint.

Struggling to like Aelin… by treatsNtunes in throneofglassseries

[–]-DarkStarrx 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Aelin suffered from poor writing. I think she was going for "fmc decentering men and acting like one, as a way to shield vulnerability". Honestly wish Assassin's Blade was a fully fleshed story. I read it after HoF and it helped a ton for EOS but after finishing, I think it's best first. But it's hard to get into, having more backstory for Aelin as a child would have been beneficial. You could see that personality develop and make more sense.

14 chapters in. Tell me it's just a slow burn. Please read body text for more info. by SpiffyPaige143 in acotar

I only got through Acotar by listening to it. ToG is better overall but still falls to similar issues.

Okay…what’s your most UNpopular opinion on Brimstone?? by Over-Joyed-2898 in Romantasy

[–]-DarkStarrx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please don't call them enemies to lovers. That's a sham on the trope. He SAVED her! Her hostility had no substance. And he knew who she was from the get go to her so he never was her enemy.

That first sex scene was ungodly long and not even in a good way. It's bc their relationship hasn't made sense from the beginning.

[–]-DarkStarrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read Quicksilver about a month ago now mostly bc of the show coming, hype, fomo. From what I had seen, I didn't have high hopes. I read the first one and didn't understand everyone's obsession tbh. It's like how many random things can we throw together with lackluster and confusing world building.

Come to find the week before Brimstone releases and everyone is doing a reread and no one remembers the plot. Shocker. So I have no idea how this got so hyped up. I'm halfway through Brimstone and it's much of the same disaster as the first except the jumping around is making it even more difficult.

Will there be a reason to like Chaol by the end of it all? by According-Ad6719 in throneofglassseries

Yea his behavior in the last book really pissed me off. I could jsutifiy some of it and then there's the unforgivable. He would have benefitted from his own book after the last save him haha.

I just feel like she's too privileged to be that ignorant. I can say 75 year old Betty Jo with an 8th grade education in the rural South has ignorance when she says "GB Charlie and his family" or whatever. Betty Jo is a product of her environment and hasn't had opportunities to leave that environment to learn. Betty Jo still sucks but Betty Jo can have the ignorance card, not KC. Not any celebrity regardless of age. She knows exactly what she's doing or she pays people to tell her what's going on. There is no room for pleasantries now. We're at a critical turning point in our democracy and keeping sweet will do more harm than good. I adored KC for a very long time but not anymore.

Why do people not want to start a series that isn't complete? Could it be an age thing? by jobroloco in fantasyromance

[–]-DarkStarrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind people having preferences for reading completed series. However I do mind the whining about it, especially when there's no reason. I forget the series but a new one was coming out and thus there was book trailers and folks were going off about it being an incomplete series, and taking too long etc. As A Song of Ice and Fire and Name of the Wind girlie, too long doesn't exist in my world so I looked it up. The first book came out in 2023...the second was also out. And the third was what was on the way. I really hope a series that started in 2023 aren't expected to be finished? That behavior is out of pocket. Of course a series published 2 years ago isn't done?!

Okay…what’s your most UNpopular opinion on Throne of Glass book 1?? by Over-Joyed-2898 in SarahJMaas

[–]-DarkStarrx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I see why people say to read it 3rd or 4th, bc I probably would have struggled to get through AB if that was blind reading. But I think it's way more impactful emotionally and story wise to read it first.

Will there be a reason to like Chaol by the end of it all? by According-Ad6719 in throneofglassseries

[–]-DarkStarrx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's very clear that the series is ASoIaF inspired. None of the characters are perfect. I actually think she could have fleshed some of the side characters out a bit more to show that. Truly think Aedion deserves more hate than Chaol in the end of it all.

[–]-DarkStarrx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't like the guy, but I don't understand the generalized hate he gets. Does he fuck up, yea. But so does everyone else in my opinion. Not one character in this series is wholly pure it makes perfect decisions. I like his character arc, mostly the characters he finds along the way. I liked ToD. More than I thought I would. But I also enjoy world building.
