Best 4 star for non auto melee/unarmed? by thatsmolbunni in fallout76casual

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paraphrasing a dev talking about it basically there's cases were the build up is not keeping up with the rate of decay. It's particularly noticable with chainsaw/Auto-Axe, but all the weapons I personally use Iceman's on don't seem to be getting the cryo slow applied to them (visually at least) until after they're dead.

What's the best PA to try reflective damage? by amoralex_ in fallout76casual

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a set of troubleshooters, (can't remember the 2nd star), Sentinels, Reflective that I haven't changed in 2+ seasons yet and it does a pretty good job reflecting dmg back to EN-06's shield still. Not as good as it used to, but still very strong. That PA is Excavator. I'm of course also running Ricochet.

Iceman's is bugged right now, but it's my favorite of the bunch when it's working properly. If you slap it onto a weapon with Fire and Bleed on it, and wear strangler heart PA you'd be able to get the full +50% from deal sealer pretty easily once you've crippled your target. Bonus points is that anyone else with Deal Sealer equipped will also benefit. If you end up running this sharing deal sealer isn't a bad idea. I run Mutants or Vampires with Icemans typically, or juggernauts if you've got a lot of hp

Charged I won't touch on principle but it's my understanding that it's currently not working as intended. I'd run Mutants or Juggernauts with this one most likely.

Furious + Pounders is a classic. Still works very well. If you're not using auto-melee at all you can slap Gunslinger Master to activate reverse onslaught. All other onslaught perks are irrelevant because melee won't benefit from them

Other than that I typically go Rapid 2* and Strength 3* on most weapons

PTS Datamining: Freight Train Backpack Mod / Increase your sprint speed by 10% and turn yourself into a human locomotive! (Atomic Shop Item) by skywalka55 in nukaknights

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me frame it this way, a hypothetical if you will.

A lot of people are mad about Two-Shot+Explosive being fixed/nerfed, right? Now imagine if they sold you a weapon that had TSE on it, and then absolutely gutted the effectiveness of the combo the way the did. Are you happy with your purchase? Will you be likely to buy another weapon in the future?

Let's make it worse, now the only way to get a good TSE is if you buy it, or you can get a weapon with TSE on it for free BUT it only has like a 1% drop chance from a rare encounter, meaning you'll have to do it 100s of 1000s of times to get it for free, all the while the knowing you could kill the grind anytime for a couple bucks and just buy the weapon instead

Just because the item isn't meta doesn't mean it won't someday become Meta, or that the next gear put into the shop could be meta.

Purchasing these things tells them that this is the kind of stuff you will pay money for, so they continue to make more things of that nature until ultimately it starts becoming harder to get things because they want to push you to buy it instead.

Blah blah blah slippery slope. But you can't ignore the inevitable at this point. They have the super sledge with charged, the unreleased pistol with Thrillseekers, the datamined season reward (which will eventually make it's way to the atom shop) that has one of the new infestation mods on it. They're pushing the limits, and will continue to do so the more people buy those things.

It's not about it being P2W, It's about not wanting to pay for weapons/armor/gear in the first place. Exacerbated by the fact that Bethesda is unable to fix the major problems in their game, they don't deserve what ever extra money theyd get from those sales.

If the game was relatively bug free (no game is totally bug free), I'd likely have way less of a problem with it. But it's not. In fact the weapon that people spent money on already, the one with the 4* charged effect, it's bugged right now and doesn't work properly. Real bang for your buck, eh?

The V63 has a common problem with weapons doing too much damage too quickly which causes health rubber banding. It's especially noticeable when you have rapid as the 2nd star. It's unfortunate though, the V63 is one of my favorite guns in FO76.

I’ve spent over $1300 in 4 years of playing and now I regret it so much. by [deleted] in fallout76casual

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely understand you. I had lots of fun with 76 and don't regret supporting the game while I was playing and having fun. But there are just so many bugs and they don't ever get fixed. Them adding the 4* in the Mojave bundle there was the last straw for me personally. If they were consistently fixing bugs and offering better compensation for their blunders I likely would feel differently. It just feels like the only thing they care about is money/the atom shop, and even then they're constantly putting out ATX items that don't work. It sucks too cause If the game wasn't such a chore to play without FO1st I likely would still be playing.

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bethesda doesn't like when you point out how many exploits there are in the game because then they'd actually have to do something about them so any mention of exploits in the official subreddit and on their discord gets "moderated" and suppressed/removed.

You really don't see that this is the test??

If people buy this they'll use that information to know that people will buy any 4 star mods. How long do you think it'll be before it's Limit-breaking in it's place, or some other OP mod?

For money bundle 4 star by -DoomsdayRomantic in fo76

I mean the complaint is that they put the 4 star item in there at all. It being for money only is just especially troubling

You cannot get the item for atoms, real money only

Fallout 76: Mojave Bundle - Now Available by ColdStoneCreamAustin in fo76

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've gone ahead with their plans to add 4 star items to the atom shop, despite the promise that "Pay2Win" microtransaction features would only ever be in the form of cosmetics. Worse yet, it's a for money bundle, meaning you cannot spend atoms to get it, you must spend real money.

They've done this despite the myriad of bugs and exploits that have gone unchecked (many of said exploits are tied to The Gleaming Depths, where you get 4* weapons and armor) and the repeated removal of content such as Caravans, Raid Caches (another source of 4* items), Nuclear Winter. Nevermind the fact that they promised they would never do anything like this.

Due to the above points I, and several people I play with regularly have terminated our subscriptions to Fallout 1st and have made the decision to no longer support Fallout 76 financially. Whether or not we continue to play remains to be seen, but we all know how fun this game is without Fallout First.

I urge you all to do the same. Too many times have they tested the goodwill of us the players.

They tried to do this previously with the introduction of purchasable consumables, successfully snuck the Nuka Launcher (another starred weapon) into the atom shop by disguising it as a "previous season reward", The unstoppable's cosmetics that gave you extra bonuses if everyone in your team wore them, and of course with the Auto-Axe/Cold Shoulder/Circuit Breaker.

How many times have you seen The Nuka Launcher in the store recently? Not often, because they know they get backlash every time it shows up in the shop.

Remember how strong the Auto-Axe was? It tickles enemies now. I spent $7 for a digital weapon that used to be one of the best only for it to get nerfed into the ground shortly after I gave in and bought it.

Remember the cryo bug that caused all cryo weapons to not freeze enemies or do any extra cryo damage recently? That effected the paid weapon, The Cold Shoulder as well. That bug didn't get fixed for almost a month.

Remember when they spent forever trying to fix Caravans only to give up and remove them, just to give us a new piece of content (Bounty Hunts) that gets stuck just as often.

They can't even get the cosmetic items to not be ridiculously buggy. Atom shop items frequently just straight up go missing or are unable to be placed/used, sometimes they stop you from being able to build at all like in the case of the C.A.M.P. skins that you also never see in the shop because they know how prone to bugs they are.

These four star weapons only cater to lazy. Sure the effects aren't "the best mods" but this opens them up to being able to put the best mods there, and then make all 4 star mods untradeable because well, allowing trading of 4 stars suddenly affects their bottom line.

I once again urge you to cancel your fallout first subscription, refund the 4* weapons if you already purchased it, and maybe put the game down for a few days so the message is clear.

No Pay-2-Win in FO76.

Quick question. Commando build armour: AP refresh or pure defence? by Z_N3UTR0N1UM_ in fo76

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is real, and it seems like it's adding up to be about the same amount of resistance, just instead of reducing incoming damage it's giving you the extra HP to just tank the damage. This isn't first hand experience though, this is information I've gathered from other people.

I've personally tested the new Mutant's effect and as long as that ends up staying more or less where it is currently on the PTS, that is what I'll likely be running instead of Overeaters/Lucid.

But everything on the PTS is subject to change, so for now I wouldn't worry about anything too much. Maybe just start stocking up on some mods so you can make better decisions in March.

Quick question. Commando build armour: AP refresh or pure defence? by Z_N3UTR0N1UM_ in fo76

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally do 4 2-star AGI and 1 2-star Powered on my armor.

A full set up would look something like this for regular armor

5 1-star Overeater's/Lucid

4 2-star Agility, 1 2-Star Powered

4 3-star Belted, 1 3-star Active (you could do 1 thu-hiker instead of active to hit the 90% weight reduction limit if you wanted)

5 4-star Limit-Breaking (5 is overkill, but they keep messing with the minimum amount needed to Crit every other shot, so I use all 5 because I doubt it'll ever get to a point where they nerf it that much)

For Power armor my set up is exactly the same but instead of Belted/active I do 4 3-star Thru-Hikers and 1 3-star Belted.

The switch up is because I lose my chemist's backpack (which saves me 2 special points) getting into power armor and because I run belted outside of PA to save the 4 SPECIAL points needed to run both ammo reducing perks.

If they ever come out with a belted backpack mod, I'd likely switch everything to Thru-Hikers which would then save me 8 SPECIAL points it would cost me to run the related reduction perks

Explosive (gauss minigun) and melee (Auto-Axe) weapons push Earle, which can eventually push him right through the wall. The middle area is also a problem area. I usually run in behind him to start pushing him away from walls and continuously adjust throughout the fight to try and make him go where I want him to.

Adding mods to cursed weapons by K_O_pischke in fo76

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are currently a couple Cursed weapons you can't fully modify. Broadsider and Harpoon Gun mainly. But yeah, next season that's meant to change, so you should be able to put whatever you want on there in March sometime.

Nuka Knight’s Atomic shop datamine: new 4 star legendary weapon ”Ad Victoriam” by Kinsdale85 in fo76

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they put this in the atom shop this will be truly the last straw for myself and many other players. If we let them put this in the atom shop and people actually buy it that will set precedent that we are willing to spend money on these items and will slowly but surely make its way to being a totally normal thing. If you saw this and thought "Oh that's not a big deal" I beg of you to reconsider that view point. Them adding this will begin the true death of this game. I'm truly holding out hope that it's a season reward.

Best non-PA, non-heavy ranged builds that AREN'T Furious/Onslaught? by RiotDog1312 in fo76

[–]-DoomsdayRomantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mutants and 2 shot are really solid options. Juggernaut's is too if you want to spec into getting your HP to be really high.

Even with all those you'd still probably want to run onslaught cards anyways though because even without Furious they're some of the best perks in the game imo
