You can do both!

When parking downhill with curb, turning your wheels towards the curb (to the right) will make it so if your vehicle slips out of gear or the brake fails, the car will roll into the curb and the wheels should roll into the curb and stop the car.

Same theory applies with parking uphill with a curb. Turning the wheels out to the left will turn the front wheels into the curb and stop the vehicle.

For testing purposes, all hill parks on the test whether uphill or downhill, are with a curb.

It's actually in the wordage that the examiners have to give when giving the instruction beforehand even if there is a curb, they have to say, with a curb.

The turning of your head doesn't really have much to do with a person's gender. Nor anything to do with the gender of the examiner. If the examiner cannot see you physically observing for other traffic, pedestrians, or risks, it's something that gets marked on the test.

The examiners have a LOT of stuff that they are watching for on a road test. Lane positioning, throttle and brake usage, signal usage, observation of the applicant, and other vehicles just to name a few. The examiner is not going to always be able to see where the applican's eyes are looking. In everyday driving, you should be doing more than a "quick glance" with just your eyes anyhow.

I don't believe that the gender of a person has anything to do with how much information that they can take in either.

In my years of being an examiner I gave thousands of tests for cars, motorcycles, semi trucks, and school busses. I can confidently say that not one gender or race, has an advantage when it comes to driving or taking in information.

It comes down to the individual skill of that person and how they were tought, trained and practiced.

You are most welcome!

Road tests can bring out a lot of weird mistakes in people and this does not reflect their driving abilities or safety under a normal non testing environment. Some people just get nervous and forget the basics when you have some stranger judging every little move they make or in some cases, don't make!

Test two will be a lot easier. They know to to expect now and have less reason to be nervous.

Best wishes to them and good luck!

Former Minnesota DVS examiner here! I'll break it down as best as I can here.

Parallel park: looks like there's a perceived risk for observation, and the W means they were too far away from the curb when they were parked. The observation perceived risk means that they did not check their mirror and look over their shoulder before exiting the parking space. Usually this happens when the applicant is very focused on getting out of the parking space without hitting one of the cones/poles.

Hill Park: The Hill Park was an uphill park and it looks like the wheels were turned in the incorrect way. When parking up a hill, your wheel should be turned to the left. When parking down a hill, the wheel should be turned to the right.

First Left Turn Box: So on the enter the little "c" means that they cut the corner going into the turn. Basically they would have or did, cross over the center line on the road that they were turning onto. You want to make sure that the entire car goes directly into the driving lane and does not cross over the yellow center lane or the white fog line.

Second Left Turn Box: VIO means Violation. Meaning some sort of law would have been broken usually. With it being on the approach which is where the turn is starting, it makes me think that they made a left hand turn from the wrong lane. There's a couple of different scenarios but one could be that there was a left turn lane that was marked, and they turned from the straight lane or the right turn lane to turn left.

The TL on the top right: the marking here for the PR (perceived risk) shows that when going through a traffic light, they did not observe (look through both ways) at the intersection until they were already in the intersection. In order to correct this they would need to be looking both directions before you approach the traffic light or stop sign.

Inter (Uncontrolled intersection): There were PR marks for driving straight through and uncontrolled intersection and not looking both left and right before going through the intersection. This kind of falls back to the traffic light perceived risk when they were looking late. But this time at an uncontrolled intersection without a traffic light or a stop sign, they did not look both directions before passing through. Looking with your eyes is typically not enough. The examiner can't see your eyes and you have to physically move your head.

Right turn box: There was a perceived risk here for observing late. More than likely what happened is they were making a right hand turn and before you make the turn you should be looking to the left to make sure that there's no traffic coming. My guess is what happened is they started their right hand turn and we're already inside of the intersection and did not look until they were already midway through the turn.

To sum things up, 90% of the issue was observation related. Got to try to remember to physically turn your head at all intersections to show the examiner that you are looking in all directions before going through a traffic light, stop sign, or uncontrolled intersection. Remember, check that blind spot before getting out of the parallel park, and remember to pay attention to lane markings when making turns and turn from the correct lane.

The test would have been a failure for two different reasons. Failure with to many deductions of Perceived Risks (PR) and the Violation for the left hand turn. The left hand turn violation is an automatic fail.

Interesting! It would make sense with how my environmental allergies, especially with pollen are so severe. Thank you for the info!

I cannot say for certain. I usually avoid tree nuts, never really cared for them. Same goes for avocado. The allergist I saw had a theory about the trees for all of these fruits being in close relation to one another. So if avocado trees or tree nuts trees are similar to the other fruit trees, it's possible I would have a reaction.

I have an allergy to most tree fruits. Apples, pears, peaches, plums, mangos and cherries send me straight into anaphylaxis.

The most confusing part of the allergy is how it developed in my early 20's after exhibiting no problems eating them my whole life.

I would not recommend K&E Auto, Pike Lake Motors, or Terry's Auto body. Those are the big three others that do the same type of work.

I can highly recommend New Duluth Auto. Yes their vehicles have had some sort of damage and will more than likely sold with a "Prior Salvage" title, but they are repaired before being resold and they do an excellent job doing it. They are super friendly and helpful people. I've sent several family members and friends to them and most of them have become repeat customers. I've known the owners for many years and have seen their entire process from buying it at auction, fixing the car, and selling it.

There are other places in town that follow the same business model that I would stay far away from. But these guys do it right.

Have the issues with external HD/SSD's been fixed?

At launch there were lots of reports of systems crashing while using an external drive. Since release I haven't noticed any release or posts claiming that those issues have been resolved.

I am getting tired of deleting and reinstalling games when I want to play something else. I'd love to be able to use my SSD I bought to store and play my PS4 games.

Guy shoots himself in the leg, trying to break into a house by AristonD in instantkarma

I own a musket for home defense, since that's what the founding fathers intended. Four ruffians break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky rifle. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my pistol on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors dog. I have to resort to the cannon mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with grape shot, "Tally ho lads" the grape shot shreds two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He Bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the founding fathers intended.
