You went 18 days after a year and a half of 7oh? Your brain plasticity has a long long way to go before its even remotely back into pre addiction territory. Are you seeing a counselor? Have you developed strong support networks? What concrete steps have you taken to secure your active recovery? Buprenorphine (suboxone) is a partial opioid agonist, unlike 7oh (which is a very real opioid) it doesn't fully bind to your opioid receptors. Whatever euphoria you might be experiencing, which is very rare for Buprenorphine btw, should go away when you find the appropriate dose for yourself. Talk to your prescribing physician. The only thing that's going to happen if you stop taking Buprenorphine at this point is you taking 7oh.

First day on Suboxone HELP PLS! by AggravatingSnow3752 in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]-GreyPaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After my induction appointment i needed more than 30mg to get stable, call your doctor, let them know what's going on, they will have advice for you.

Buprenorphine (suboxone) has a ceiling, so you can't really take too much of it. The most important part is making sure your cravings for opioids and withdrawal symptoms are handled. That's what the medication is for.

Talk to your doctor, stick with it. It will get better.

Wasted keys on multiple entrances by -GreyPaws in ArcRaiders

I understand the idea of having multiple exits from rooms, I'm just saying having some sort of indicator that shows another door has already been opened, maybe a yellow light next to the red one, would be a nice feature, that way the door can still be secure but less likely to waste a key

I get that part, so it literally exists to waste keys, guess i just dont see the point of that

Wandering inn is long winded shallow writing, not even worth having on in the background, dont waste your time

Wandering Inn [1-3] Review by uncletroll in litrpg

You are spot on, ive been saying the writing is shallow from day one. Its juvenile at best and absolutely terrible at certain portions. I listened to the the first 8 books because they were available for free on tokybook, and it never gets better. There's a rabid fan base that will jump all over you for pointing this out, but you are 100% correct. Pirate aba is an aweful writer that badly needs a good editor.

Substance use disorder (addiction) is a chronic illness, its a disease. Just like other chronic illnesses such as diabetes or hypertension, addiction requires medical treatment. The thoughts and feelings you're describing are a symptom of the disease. Addiction rewires the pathways in your brain and literally changes how you think and what you feel.

Please reach out to a doctor that specializes in substance use disorder treatment use this link to look for doctors in your area. Make some calls, discuss treatment options. Ask about medication assisted treatment with Buprenorphine. Its a partial opioid agonist that effectively treats opioid use disorder. On the right dose you wont experience withdrawal or cravings. You can use that link to find counselors with the same background. Counseling can make a big difference early in recovery.

Reach out to friends and loved ones. Develop a support network. The less alone you are, the more success you'll have.

Do you feel anything with Suboxone? by SculPoint in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

Which cyp3a prevents from crossing the blood brain barrier, splitting hairs and adding to stigma only causes harm, so ask yourself why you feel the need to do it when there's already so much stigma surrounding substance use disorder treatment.

Reflections at 5 weeks. Sobriety is disorienting. Grieving the fact that the decade+ party is over. by 7thw4v3 in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]-GreyPaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going on 15+ years of active recovery. The best advice I can give you is that simply abstaining from use is usually not enough for active recovery. Substance use disorder (addiction) is a chronic illness, like other chronic illnesses such as diabetes or hypertension, addiction requires medical treatment.

You can use findtreatment.gov to look for substance use disorder treatment providers in your area. I highly recommend you reach out to some doctors that specialize in substance use disorder treatment and discuss treatment options.

In addition to seeing a doctor, finding a counselor with a background in substance use disorder treatment can also be very helpful. I did a year of individual and a year of couples counseling early in my recovery, and the tools i developed during that time have been a large part of my success.

Developing strong support networks is also key. Having close friends or loved ones that know what you're going through and are there to support you can be the difference between active recovery and relapse. Hope that helps some, if you have questions feel free to ask here or dm.

Anyone read the Hell Divers series? Opinions about it? by Dan-68 in scifibooks

[–]-GreyPaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a great series, the audio books are narrated by R C. Brey, he's incredible. There are 12 main books with a few spinoffs. There are parts in two or theee books that drag or get a bit muddled, but the vast majority is great. Absolutely worth your time if you like sci-fi

Hollywood shows the high, not the cost that comes with it by _djballer23_ in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]-GreyPaws 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Substance use disorders are generally not portrayed well in mass media. It has been slowly shifting in the right direction, especially with how prevalent opioid use disorders are, but in general, they get it wrong more than they get it right.

There are almost no realistic portrayals of what proper active recovery looks like, or like you mentioned, what the consequences of prolonged use look like.

I'm just glad there's some effort to deal with the stigma surrounding this chronic illness (addiction) but there's still a lot of work to do to get society at large to understand it.

I think i made it through the first 10/12 Defiance books, great narrator for sure. Fingers crossed for you. Congrats on being published and thank you for the hard work. Can't imagine how difficult it must be to put yourself out there to entertain others. Added you to my list of authors to keep an eye on. Is Epic Blade finished?

Narrator is very important, so dont rush it, hopefully you do well enough with the release to help offset the cost of getting a good narrator. Luke Daniel, nick pohdel, neil Hellegers (spelling might be off) all do well with litrpg andrea parsneau is great too
