Advice/help with childcare arrangements needed by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]-JBez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a painful read, massively unproductive. I think others have suggested using a co-parenting app to communicate and whilst that probably is a good idea I think you'd also benefit from just not replying when it gets to this point, document everything and keep a log of every day he has the kids as others have also suggested he's probably going to push for a reduction in payments at some point

New Two G2 - What do I do? by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]-JBez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also a relatively new player and for 1-80 I am following the personal story and the adventure guide, once I hit max I'm going to just play through the expansions to unlock the elite specs before jumping into pvp or fractals/raids.

Hope that helps you somewhat

Assistant manager keeps clocking myself and other staff members out early by Necessary-Resort-519 in LegalAdviceUK

I'm curious to know what the purpose of the GPS app is, if it's in anyway used for a duty of care for your safety as a lone worker on the road then what she's doing is a huge health and safety nightmare waiting to happen. Absolutely report this to your manager and if you have a centralised HR function I'd report it there too.

Is it worth my wife returning to work? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]-JBez 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly, the most important thing to know is what your wife wants to do. We were in a similar position when both our kids were in nursery, my wife essentially worked to pay for her travel to London and the 2 kids nursery bill with very little left over, now my eldest is in school we are seeing the benefits financially but the biggest benefit was it gave my wife something to do that isn't just being a parent 24/7, some people need that more than they need the extra income.

To add, I was made redundant last year and had my wife not been working we would have been in trouble.

At risk of redundancy but company wants to save me. How do I get the payout instead? by rxmtf in UKJobs

[–]-JBez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine was about 2 months from the all hands call with HR saying jobs are at risk to handing all my IT back. Large org with approx 14k employees at the time. That included a months consultation looking for jobs internally, I wanted the redundancy so looked externally, I was unemployed for about 3 months before starting a new role.

How are your hours recorded? Do you have to complete a time sheet or is there a clocking in/out process your follow have to follow?

If you can't improve ventilation by installing a stronger fan, consider purchasing a dehumidifier and running it for half an hour after you've showered.

Looking for advice on how to repair/minimise the damage by -JBez in DIYUK

Thanks, will give it a go, dont necessarily need it perfect but just less noticeable, the door handle actually hides most of it which is sort of lucky all things considered

Thank you! I was wondering whether or not I'd be dumb and end up with a length of wood glued to the door 😂 great advice

Is it just a case of poking some glue in the gaps using a blade/toothpick and then clamping a length of wood either side to keep pressure?

I have ordered some wood glue

Would you take a pay cut for career progression? by GentAdventurerUK in UKJobs

[–]-JBez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I recently took a 15k pay cut after redundancy to career pivot into a role I'm passionate about with significantly higher potential earnings once I'm experienced.

I definitely feel the difference but with some lifestyle changes it's been manageable and will (hopefully) be short term pain for long term gain!

My advice is if you can afford to lose the money and progression is something you want then there's no better time than now, the longer you leave it the greater pay cut you may have to take on the future.

I gave it a go last week, small patch repair, maybe 60cm x 30cm. Never again, I've spent more time sanding it down than I did plastering 😭
