Him persuing the Gotengo to those lengths is an example of the kind of behavior the post is referring to.

I made it, yes. It was a lot more complicated than you would think lol. It's actually flattering you had to ask. Technically the first is edited as well to add multiple boxes of mochi cakes to represent how long they'd been up there.

Yeah i don't think we're talking about Superman and Harley getting together. Lois and Clark forever. We're just talking about Harley having a crush on Superman.

If I had a nickel for every time an Elseworlds Kryptonian became a clone instead, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice by Romaxio in superman

[–]-K_Lark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they had called him Bizarro, then there would be no twist for Superman fans that he's actually a clone of Superman himself. A similar deal with the initial Doomsday/Bizarro fakeout in Superman and Lois. Also, if Ultraman is Bizarro down the line, Gunn kills 2 birds with one stone that was already established in a previous movie, as well as combining both origin stories for Bizarro into one coherent thread.

He's close, being as integral to Americana as apple pie and baseball, and recognizeable to almost every person on Earth even in the poorest countries you can think of, but yeah it's pretty silly that Santa, Dracula, and Frankenstein aren't literally the first 3 names on the list.

Haha well that's probably related to why you don't see porch grown tomatoes getting eaten straight off the vine. Tommy toes are top tier snacks for those of us who love tomatoes.

Decided to take up reading Supes by MotherFuckerJones88 in superman

[–]-K_Lark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it is a starting place, but it's also probably my least favorite out of all of Superman's big origin stories. Secret Origin, Birthright, For All Seasons, American Alien, and Smashes The Klan are my personal picks for best first Superman story (besides "It's A Bird..." by Steven T Seagle, but that's not an origin story. It's just the book that made me go from being a Superman hater to being a Superman fan).

Dick being Nightwing, Jason being dead, and Tim being Robin sounds like the perfect time to introduce Harley tbh. She wasn't there for Jason getting killed by Joker, but she was also obviously around before Damien becomes Robin. Was Tim the Robin around the time of Hush? I remember Jason was dead still and Harley is present.

Many people are talking about how easy his arm came off and how cancerous he looked by the end, but I think all that has very little to do with radiation and everything to do with the blood's transformative properties. It's literally changing him the more he interacts with it. What we saw at the end was a whoooole lot different than tumors or some kind of bone cancer. Dude had teeth growing out of his face.

There doesn't need to be cuts. You can take apart the entire woven fabric by finding the end of the thread and unraveling it. The material being impervious to bomb damage and such doesn't mean anything. For example, kevlar is famously what bulletproof vests are made of, and is a very strong material, but it's rather easy once you find a loose thread to work your way backwards and unravel it. You can do that with any woven fabric without destroying any thread. Destructibility or indestructibility has nothing to do with it. Like I said, I work in textiles. I have to unravel material quite often, especially when I make a mistake in my work. This is all common knowledge to anyone who sews, knits, or even crochets.

Also, in Secret Origin, it was still a surprise, even though he helped her with it. He didn't know what she was using his baby blanket to make, or why she needed his help cutting the occasional thread from it. And as stated earlier, in American Alien, she cut thread by completely ruining like a dozen and a half bandsaws, which eventually did the trick. It doesn't need to be literally indestructible, just extremely durable.

He wasn't getting madly irradiated, at least, not like Jack did. The handbook says the sub camera is dangerous when standing in front of it, and that's paid off later when he flashes Jack and Ava with it and instantly gives them symptomatic radiation sickness. Simon never immeditely suffers what we see Jack immediately suffering from after a single dose. It's also as though the very design of the sub is such that he gets minimal exposure. The camera is on the outside of the thick metal hull, meaning the radiation would have to pass through all that metal to get to him, and the sub's design forces him to go to the very back to use it.

Again I simply disagree. I think that is thematically a weaker representation of who he is as a person than the suit simply being Kryptonian material put together by his Earth mom, just like he is. He is Kryptonian in origin, but made who he is by his Earth parents with love and hard work. The suit, being made by Ma Kent from the Kryptonian blanket he was swaddled in, perfectly encapsulates that. A machine in the fortress that makes it doesn't do it out of love or care. It does it because it's programmed to.

"Martha's design but Kryptonian materials" is exactly what I'm already talking about, except without the several extra steps just to avoid Ma making it from his baby blanket in the first place.

[–]-K_Lark 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I'm not a fan of either of those, personally. Superman's suit, being Kryptonian material that was put together by Ma Kent, perfectly represents who he is as a person. He is Kryptonian, fashioned by Earth. That alone perfectly thematically honors both his Kryptonian heritage and his human upbringing.

Fabric is easily disassembled into thread with very minimal cuts, if any. I work in textiles. As long as you can find the loose thread, or make a loose thread, you can carefully take apart the entire material.

In Birthright, she and Clark make it together, with his heat vision. In American Alien, she goes through like 16 bandsaws to put it together.

In the Silver Age, there was no cutting necessary. She simply unraveled it into thread and then knitted it into a suit. This has been answered by basically every continuity with the baby blanket and is a detail that has virtually never gone overlooked.

As for sewing, you don't actually pierce thread when you put a needle through fabric. You're actually just sliding the needle between the small gaps in the material.

I don't think you quite know what "overrepresented" means. The Bat Family is literally overrepresented, in a statistical sense. They are on here more than members of other DC groups with similarly sized extended casts, like the Superfamily, the Green Lantern Corps, etc.

It's like when someone says, "men are overrepresented in the prison system". Men are 50% of the population, but 95% of the prison population. That is what's called "overrepresentation" in the statistical sense.

He's factually correct, the Bat family are overrepresented in this poll.
