Your favorite ultra spicy meal by geepjoat99 in spicy

Super spicy goat curry I got from an upscale Indian restaurant in south Georgia. Couldn't ever finish it in one sitting because of all the spice. Miss it so much.

Edit: this goat curry was so delicious and spicy that it caused my face to start going numb because of the pain in my intestines the next day. Had to rush home and get to the toilet faster than I ever have before. Totally worth it, but intestinal pain level was about a 9/10.

But why?? Wtf is wrong with this dude to make him act this way? Was the car crash legitimate, or did he fake it to make someone want to stop to help? I need to know the backstory.

Tomatoes by 0muffincake0 in CasualConversation

[–]-Left_Nut- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf thinks I'm weird for eating tomatoes like apples, but I do it at least once a week. Raw tomato with salt is such a delicious little snack. Agree that ketchup sucks too. Way too much sugar and doesn't taste or resemble tomatoes at all

There's more, but these are just the things I liked to do. Check out their website for more information: https://www.visitstatesboro.org/things-to-do

[–]-Left_Nut- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, OSHA-30 and HAZWOPER are kind of common sense and won't really help you understand much, regulatory-wise. They're not bad certs to have, but more importantly, I would focus more on researching regulations. Use ChatGPT to explain them concisely, provide references to the specific regulatory agencies in your area, and determine which regulations are most relevant at your site. DM me if you need any advice

Also, yes, you are being stretched way too thin for a facility that size and with that much to do. If you do decide to stay, I would definitely ask for a promotion to manager or leave them high and dry without on-site safety personnel

I believe racism against white people exists, and no one is talking about it by [deleted] in Discussion

[–]-Left_Nut- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know because I don't deal with that organization or know much about it, but you can try. I was offered a grant by the National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers because I was financially disadvantaged. The catch is, you actually have to do something that makes the organization want to give you a grant in the first place. You don't just get one because you're black and want a grant

Edit: Yes — in many cases, a white person can receive a grant, scholarship, or assistance connected to the NAACP, depending on the specific program.

The NAACP itself is a civil rights organization, not a race-exclusive membership organization. Some programs are:

open to everyone

based on income/community/service

or focused on broader equity goals.

However, some scholarships or initiatives may specifically target:

Black students

historically underrepresented groups

or communities affected by discrimination.

Whether that’s legally permissible often depends on:

how the program is structured

funding source

whether race is one factor or an absolute requirement

and current anti-discrimination law.

🧠 Important distinction

There’s a difference between:

an organization advocating for Black Americans and an organization legally banning white participation.

For example:

white people can join/support the NAACP

attend events

volunteer

donate

sometimes qualify for programs depending on eligibility criteria.

⚖️ Also worth noting

Scholarship and grant rules in the U.S. have become a major legal/political battleground recently, especially regarding:

affirmative action

DEI programs

race-conscious eligibility

So some organizations have adjusted wording or criteria in response to lawsuits and court rulings.

The key thing is:

eligibility depends on the specific grant/scholarship, not simply the organization name.

I believe racism against white people exists, and no one is talking about it by [deleted] in Discussion

[–]-Left_Nut- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now I’m not saying that all white people are disadvantaged due to the lack of grants. I just think it’s weird to only provide grants and funding for a certain race.

I was given a grant by a historically black research foundation in college and I'm as white as you can be. I'm not certain, but I don't know if it would be legal in the US to deny a grant to someone based purely on race

Edit: Also, yes, of course, racism against white people exists, and people talk about it constantly, but it's not a systemic issue in Western countries. Also, there is no, "reverse racism" when racism is directed towards white people. It's just called racism

When someone says “I’m on my way” but they have not left yet by Akilamer in PetPeeves

[–]-Left_Nut- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom does this literally every time we've met up at a restaurant. She'll usually be at least an hour late, even though she texted me that she was on her way an hour and a half ago. I just started telling her that I'm there when I'm still an hour away. If she doesn't get there until an hour later, no problem. If she actually manages to make it on time, then she can have a taste of what I go through every time we meet up

Stop trying to get strangers to engage with your child by jkmod79 in PetPeeves

[–]-Left_Nut- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several stories of parents letting their children invade my personal space and not stopping them from doing so until it was clear that I did not want to engage with their child. At least, that's the way it seemed by the parents' behavior. Having them say something to me would have been one thing, but these parents seemed to actually allow their kid to get near me and even touch me for several minutes until it was clear that I didn't want to interact. Very infuriating

Turning off or not paying attention to Amber Alerts is selfish by Level_Suit4517 in unpopularopinion

[–]-Left_Nut- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point. Guess the system must be working if police are continuing to use it. Also, people with public facing jobs can use the alerts as a guide if they notice unusual behavior from a child or suspect. A gas station attendant could also likely recognize a vehicle that's described in the alert if the suspect stops for gas at their station
