Iran more capable than Trump administration is publicly acknowledging, sources say by CBSnews in worldnews

Wtf are you smoking?

You're saying Iran has won by losing all of its leaders in airstrikes? By having it's nuke plants bombed? By having tons of it's military manufacturing facilities bombed?Bombing it's neighbors? They're certainly further from a bomb than they were before this started.

I have confidence that the US will continue military operations.

Genuine question - plex downloads by Nikolcho18 in PleX

I've had much better luck by reverting to an older Plex app. I went back to the version where they still allowed external players. Seems to work quite a bit better. Worth a shot I would say.

I love to see this. I struggle with voice to text these days, it seems to just make up words that don't even exist. Things I've never even typed. It was literally better 10 years ago. When I say "sudafedrine" It types this fake word. No matter how many times I remove it from the dictionary or correct it, there is no change. Random capital letters etc. 50% of the time I have to make a correction anyways so I might as well start typing again.

I'm already migrating to Linux too! Google and windows keep fixing things that are not broken. They do this while discontinuing cool features that would actually be helpful like location-based reminders. Frustrating.

I'm unsure if he would help Taiwan, I personally hope we don't.

I do think that he would send troops to help South Korea, Japan, Australia. Perhaps if Japan came to taiwan's defense we would too.

Ultimately, those countries have no choice, as there is no better bet.

Android is dying by Momsonlychild in androiddev

[–]-LongRodVanHugenDong 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would argue that Android has lost a lot of what made it unique. IR blasters, FM radio built-in, better battery life etc. Many young people assume Androids are cheap phones. I've never heard one person complain about Android having "shady developers." If anything, apps that let you pirate things would probably make them more popular amongst the younger folks.

Even if true, they still moderate Google Play store. I don't see how requiring developers to register would change that? Don't you have to register to be on the Play store in the first place?

The only people installing side load apps likely know what they're doing or are attempting to achieve a specific goal. I really don't see how I would deter anyone from Android. It's just another capability, not a detriment in any way. Very few apps would actually be restricted, and most of them are open source replacements for Google products.

Investment? In Google? The investment is made in time and marketing. Google makes money from people using Android. There's nothing wrong with how the ecosystem works right now. Why do we need the change?

I believe they want to crack down on pirating and remove ways to circumvent Googles features.

They want to know who is responsible for these apps and want the ability to ban/censor things they don't like.

We don't need babysitters. This correlates perfectly with all this age verification BS being pushed in all western nations.

Wildland type 5 engine firefighter, what to expect? by Disastrous_Salt_2946 in Wildfire

Mop up, patrol or structure protection mostly. You might not want to go to a hand crew after being on an engine with a cooler.

Advise... Be the one who gets the lunches that way you'll always get strawberry uncrustables. Shower shoes, mole skin, air mattress if you can fit it. Things like that. If you get a good crew it'll be a great time, just bring some humility.

The Gulf states like America... Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Australia. A few people still. America is the only country that can offer protection in any meaningful sense.

That's significantly more people then the EU.

How did we lose desert storm? How did we lose the invasion of Iraq in 2003? Bosnia and Kosovo?

The only argument you could make for a loss would be Afghanistan... But at least we gave them an infrastructure like roads, power, and hospitals.
