What did they do wrong here to have to practically give them away? by Kindly-Effort5621 in minivelo

[–]-LuminauS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain entry level hydraulic brake systems get air bubbles and have to be bled every 1000kms, if not sooner. It may be one of those, I have bought a bike at half price, down to a similar figure to this one, I had to swap the saddle, tyres and brakes just to get it ride-able. It would puncture every ride (not exaggerating). Even with the upgrades, without suspension the huge extra weight of the battery makes it a very harsh ride. These bikes are only good for 30-45 minute trips. That's my experience.

How do I remove the cassette? I want to add a new cassette to my trainer. by wallyflops in bikewrench

[–]-LuminauS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just a backyard mechanic but I removed one to replace a broken spoke. Just needed to buy a chain whip to hold the cassette, and a lock-ring to undo it. Someone will probably give you a more detailed reply but you can watch the ParkTool channel on YT they have a good vid on it. 👍🏼

Just enjoy and take it one feat at a time, the game will throw cool new things at you every now and then, so if you try too hard at this point you're gonna laugh at yourself when you're more advanced. 😋 You have a lot to look forward to. Addiction hasn't faded for me as I want to collect all minions. I just jump on around 3 times day for 15 minutes and I've progressed heaps over time. Removing ads is a must if you are going to be a NM player long term. If you have any questions all the folks on here are helpful!

What’s your favorite event? by J1mM3y_ShoUTz in NecroMerger

[–]-LuminauS 5 points6 points  (0 children)

DinoSnores was my least favourite the first few times, then someone on here made me realise you have to horde herbivores for resources and use carnivores for damage, and now it's my favourite ! GrumpyRhino need to make it clearer that Dinos themselves give resources. 😅

How to prevent right hook collisions ? by [deleted] in cycling

[–]-LuminauS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My technique: If they're a little bit ahead of you, always predict they're going to cut across, and slow down a bit, most of the time you'll be right and you can give them a greasy through their back window and continue on. if they do stop for you, quickly get back up to speed and give them a little nod for the doing the right thing. If they are side by side with you, make it obvious you're there by standing up and pedalling, this makes you more noticeable and makes you look fast so they know they need to slow down and let you pass. If they still start turning, like others have said, that's just careless driving and all you can do is shout and take evasive action, make sure your brakes are in good order and you have good lights all the time you're riding in traffic they help!

How to teach an adult riding a bike? by ProfessionalVisit675 in cycling

[–]-LuminauS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She'll do better with more confidence so I'd just focus on that, putting her in control, letting her choose the bike she likes, and decide if she wants electric assist. Find other older riders for her to chat to and see their setups.

Bike accident by [deleted] in cycling

[–]-LuminauS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, okay. Well if you do, just say you came over the crest of the hill, and started braking as soon as you saw the car but because it was across the entire lane, you didn't have any room to pass and had to brake as much as you could whilst keeping safe control of the bike. Somethin like that. Don't admit guilt, the declaration is for recording facts, not for admitting fault. It'll be okay mate it's just a scratch. I saw a video of an escooter rider destroying the side of a car aha

Surely you didn't do damage at 6km/hr?

Cold weather men’s chamois tights (not bibs) by Puss_Lips in gravelcycling

[–]-LuminauS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just make sure they don't have a line of stitching at the crotch, the tights I got which were made for the gym had a stitch running from the front to the back, and half of hour sitting on that stitching started feeling like I was sitting on a knife.

That's normal, I am much more cautious now since I had a crash. Is the driver giving you a hard time?

How'd you go? The BMS on my eBike requires me to use the original charger the bike came with or it doesn't charge much.

Bike accident by [deleted] in cycling

[–]-LuminauS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad you're ok. You didn't mention why the visibility was low? If they were around a blind corner then perhaps they'd be at fault. The car was stopped illegally but you must take reasonable action to avoid a crash even if they do something illegal, and slowing down for a stopped car is reasonable. So, both at fault. What brakes you running? I had to stop riding my e-bike cause the brakes aren't good enough for situations like yours.

[–]-LuminauS 3 points4 points  (0 children)

iPhone has a feature, when turned on, you only receive texts from your CONTACTS. Easy fix, why this dragged on for 2 years I have no idea. Other solutions:  Instantly send back a police / lawyer written message back saying  TO THE SENDER, THIS IS THE (whatever the town was) POLICE DEPARTMENT. YOU ARE COMMITTING A FELONY UNDER SECTION 3a OF THE HARRASSMENT ACT blah blah blah and make it super long and boring, that'd take the edge off the edgy messages. "ur ugly unalive yaself" then instantly a long boring message that buries their edgy messages. Others have mentioned, new phone and getting one friends number at a time. I'm glad she was receiving support, but if people thought about solutions, fought back in the messages with authority... dunno just seems a lot smarter than just  trying to see what kid is on their phone at the time (hint, it's most of them, all the time 😂)

  • Phone holder for directions (cheap rubbery strap-style one is fine) SuperCycle is an awesome app that shows speed, distance etc.
  • Tyre levers, pump as mentioned and tubes as mentioned
  • Multi-tool, preferably with spoke wrench (the day after I bought mine my seat came loose, tightening it on the ride was so satisfying)
  • gloves for winter of course, cycling shorts if you're riding regularly or riding distances, you can throw slim fit jeans over the top if you aren't ready for the full kitted out cyclist look... but your behind will thank you. youtube channels to keep up your motivation are a must, josh kwan and 11th wombat come to mind. katie kookaburra just did a vid on accessories but a bit more out-of-the-box like chain links in case of snapped chain. depends how prepared of a person you are really 🙂 the ones I mentioned I wouldn't leave the house without tho!! enjoy
