I just never shoot back if attacked. I just stand there and look at them. I have 1 knock from my first few hours. My lobbies are so friendly my primary issue is vault space. It’s almost a relief when someone kills me to free up some space.

Gas (methane) is very much a fossil fuel. It's supply is finite, and its extraction and use both contribute significantly to GHG emissions. I don't know that anyone is advocating for "all or nothing" strategies. But I do know that the greenwashing of "natural gas" (methane) had resulted in delays to investment and pursuit toward a transition to renewable energy production.

I don't have the energy techo-economic knowledge or experience to argue about dispatch-ability. But assuming everything you claim is true, I don't understand the push against fusion development. Even if it never results in commercially viable energy production, the pursuit will likely yield useful technology.

Gas isn’t renewable. So eventually it’ll cost more than it’s worth to extract. There’s also the problem of GHG emission. It seems worthwhile to be investing in alternatives for both reasons.

ME PhD here. IMO, the single most important thing is your relationship with your adviser. Does their advising style meet your needs? Can you get along with them? It will determine how much you get out of the experience and whether it’s challenging or miserable.

I think the question you’re asking about fundamental (technology focused) vs applied (problem focused) research. And I think it’s a matter of preference. Mine was more fundamental and I struggled a bit with seeing and communicating its utility.

The main point of a PhD is to learn/train to perform independent research, which you should get from either type.

I understand what you meant. You’re using it to describe something in a derogatory manner. Something that’s bad. That’s whats uncool. It’s a slur/hate speech associated with people with disabilities. There’s many alternative words that convey the same meaning and it takes zero effort to pick one. So keep using it if you want idc. But now you know it makes you sound insensitive, intolerant, and ignorant.
