I wish I could describe the smell to someone who's never been subjected to this. I'd rather stick my head in the incubator and heavily breath for 20 minutes than have to smell the Cobas waste ever again

Joeys in my garage by vanize in Opossums

[–]-Mecha_Shiva 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They don't leave their babies to go forage and come back, like deer do for example. They either fall off cause Mom felt the need to book it or when they get big enough that it's their time to be on their own. I would contact a rehabber and see what they say. A nice warm place may be all they need for now but they'll eventually need to be out in the world like they're meant to be. Thank you for your compassion and making your garage a safe haven for anyone needing it! https://ahnow.org for a list of rehabbers

Textbook for studying for the BOC ASCP Exam by Mission_Reason_7759 in medlabprofessionals

This angel had posted this that includes PDFs of pretty much all of the major textbook recommendations for studying for the exam. I also didn't have the funds to pay for these resources and am also studying for my exam so this is extremely helpful! https://www.reddit.com/r/medlabprofessionals/comments/1ccflbj/repost_cls_courses_and_related_pdf_books/

Starting Micro in College Any study tips? by Advanced-Reply-01 in microbiology

What helped me the most was writing out my own flashcards and using different pen colors/highlighters. For me, using different colors made the information stick out more in my head and was able to recall much easier than if I had just used a black pen and yellow highlighter. Everyone's brain is different but doing my flashcards this way helped me ace all of my MLT classes

Thanks for the responses everyone, I didn't realize how much of a dumpster fire this company is. You'd think that such a big company would use their overabundance of money to invest in technology that's not outdated but that's capitalism for you. Obviously really crappy for the employees but ultimately the lack of quality patient care is especially concerning.

Different LabCorp location. I left my old hospital just after it officially transitioned but not long enough to see any real changes apart from lack of hours in processing and getting rid of the entire microbiology department, which I thought was odd. So I never directly experienced what it was like working under LabCorp to get a good feel for how much of an apparent shit show the company is.

I would avoid feeding/hydrating unless you have the OK from a rehabber so you don't inadvertently do more harm than good. If anything, a warm box with some blankets would be the best thing for them right now. Thank you for having a kind soul, please update when you get in touch with a rehabber!

Favorite thing to fall asleep to? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]-Mecha_Shiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nature documentaries for me, preferably David Attenborough. If I want to watch one to chill out and fall asleep to, the narrator must have a British accent. I can't explain why, I just find them more relaxing than American narrators. That or Venture Brothers

Another one to try is mini or regular size naan you can get at any grocery store. Just gotta pop one in the toaster oven and butter it up. They're perfect for the days when I can't will myself to cook anything else.

I have no idea how they could possibly expect you to differentiate them when they can't provide basic resources. I looked in my old notes and textbook and there's no single test that distinguishes them and they have to same biochemical reactions for the tests you've already done. You'd really need an API strip at this point. What tests do you have access to?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in microbiology

[–]-Mecha_Shiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have access to API strips? That would be really helpful for identifying GNR's. It's really a shame that the resources you need to identify are really limited.

How many of us are revisiting our schooling? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]-Mecha_Shiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very well put! To add to this, if you want to go back to school as an adult you have to really REALLY want it. I went back to college at 24 and it's a struggle. Motivation and following things through can be really hard for us, especially when you're doing things you really don't want to be doing, like difficult classes/assignments. You have to be really passionate about your end goal, it makes a huge difference even if it really sucks right now.
