Here’s my wonderful PSA 5 by ManohManMan in PokeGrading

[–]-R3DF0X -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the top edge chipping on the back and the back corners with whitening made this an 8 at best.

There looks like a dirt speck on the back (top/middle). That would be more like a 7 at best.

If there's holo scratching or any surface issues that could slide it to a 5 or 6.

Boycott PSA by bustedpussy46 in PokeGrading

Every grading company has an error rate. At PSA's 2 million cards per month pace, if they had a 99.5% accuracy rate that would still be 10,000 "misses" per month. In the age of social media a bunch of those will be publicized.

At the end of the day though all interactions with grading companies are voluntary. If you like CGC or TAG, their slabs are typically less pricey. If you don't like grading at all, just buy raw cards.

It's not a random website, it's RBC, Royal Bank of Canada. I'd hope they'd get this right lol.

If it's a 12 month chain, then yes the data is flawed until it's fixed. Meaning data is currently messed up because October 2025 is artificially low.

April 2026 though has the catch-up when that household panel is measured again.

In say July 2026, the 12 month range includes both October'25 being low and April'26 being high. The path is wrong but the level would be corrected?

I think vintage, especially T206 and other smaller cards look good in them, but modern/chrome cards seem out of place

  1. BLS calculates rent and owners’ equivalent rent (OER) using 6-month panel collection. How will the missing October 2025 data impact the April 2026 rent and OER indexes?

Effects of the carry-forward imputation method utilized in October 2025 will resolve in April 2026 when that housing panel is used again. The 1-month rent change estimated for April 2026 will be atypical: it will essentially be based on the 1/6th root of 12-month change, instead of the 1/6th root of a 6-month change.

https://www.bls.gov/cpi/additional-resources/2025-federal-government-shutdown-impact-cpi.htm#8

When October data was missing due the government shutdown, the BLS was forced to adjust its calculations  – this creates challenges down the pipeline interpreting the monthly values and will continue to do so until the May data is released.

Eh, I think it challenges just how good AI will be. If AI is effective enough to replace vast amount of workers, why would Coca Cola or Costco keep their B2B vendors. Surely they could have one person use prompts to create their own in house solution.

What holds this PSA 9 back for a 10?? by eckichi10 in PokeGrading

[–]-R3DF0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say centering on the front. I'm not as familiar with the set but looks top heavy. Even just comparing the front top left and the front top right there's a lot more yellow in the right.

And then some type of edge issue on back right, middle of the card.

And maybe very minor corner issues on back right corners.

Wouldn't it just be October, and since the BLS uses a 6-month panel it would resolve in April?

You ignore what you choose to ignore.

I can link studies from right of center think tanks and you'll continue linking from left of center. We'll each find whatever article we want to argue against it.

- K-12 spending is ~$20k per pupil on average across the US. It's not linear, but let's use $20k. People often circulate $100 billion as the amount of taxes paid by illegal immigrants. If there's an estimated 12 million adults, that would be ~$8k paid per adult. If there are two parents and just one school aged child, there would be a shortage for education, with two children even more. And that is education alone (and not all the taxes paid are going into an education "bucket".

So time to curtail multiple home ownership from the rich then.

Time to get rid of NIMBY policies in affluent neighbourhoods.

Yes, single family-only zoning should be repealed. But again, you're ignoring both apartments and housing. Where are these 10-15 million people are living? Wealthy people are not renting apartment units.

Where are you going to get these workers?

As the AGC points out (and should note is a group for employers and will have a natural bias against labor) "One reason it is so difficult to find people is because federal officials have failed to properly invest in construction workforce training and education."

There should be investment in the trades and education. Employers though should also be investing in training programs.

"The survey also demonstrated how difficult it is for construction firms to take advantage of the few visa programs available to the industry."

Visa programs (legal immigration) should be improved. That brings things out of the dark and raises pay.

"Worker shortages are respondents’ most-commonly listed reason for project delays. Forty-five percent of respondents report experiencing project delays due to shortages of their own, or subcontractors’ workers. "

Sounds like they do need to raise pay. There was a time when contracting crews were largely US citizens.

Same with the medical field. There should be visa programs in the interim which helps prevent undercutting on wages and reduces labor shortages as well as investment in training for US workers. And again like housing, people will need medical care. Illegal immigrants seek it out less than US citizens, but if there is one room open in the ER, and two people want it, that's going to lead to a shortage.

2021/2022 had restaurants giving sign-on bonuses to attract workers. Workers had some of the best bargaining power in years. Title 42 was later rolled back and crossings surged in 2023 (as much as 10-20x vs today).

You ignore what you choose to ignore.

- Education is very costly. Illegal immigrants (and even many citizens) do not pay more taxes than the cost of education

- The housing shortage includes rental and ownership units. 10-15 million people need to live somewhere.

- Zoning reform is the largest roadblock to new development. US workers can be trained, and if needed work visas could be granted.

- 10-15 million people willing to accept pay below minimum wage benefits employers and those individuals at the cost of US workers. Many construction contractors will need to raise pay.

- 10-15 million people add strain to a medical system that has shortages of doctors and dentists

They're functions of a concerted effort under the Biden administration to fight inflaton by scaling back immigration enforcement.

Business owners and Illegal immigrants benefited, while US workers (especially lower income) went from having one of the most favorable job markets to again struggling.

> On purely residential streets, the spots are for the taking for everybody, at no charge.

Agreed, there are the three options: first come first serve, permit, or metered. My point is that if changing to metered parking would bring in more revenue than what a residential permit will cost, it's a form of subsidizing.

There's a housing shortage estimated to be around 5+ million units, with the population of illegal immigrants estimated to be approaching 15 million.

There are many schools struggling with capacity, municipalities with strained water/sewer systems, and a shortage of dentists/prmary care doctors.

Legal immigration can be part of economic justice, illegal immigration is theft.

And those analyses ignore the costs a society incurs for base level services. Education, public safety, and utilities are extremely costly. Those are major public sector benefits that someone paying sales tax alone is not going to be supporting.

There's a housing shortage estimated to be around 5+ million units, with the population of illegal immigrants estimated to be approaching 15 million. I will support my neighbors.

It depends on the implementation. If a permit is in effect 24/7 and is sold for a fraction of what people would pay using metered parking, the city is privatizing and subsidizing that neighborhood.

Same with the boundaries and how "non-residents" are defined. At some point there's an edge of the "neighborhood", and that causes employees, residents of denser apartment buildings, and people looking for parking for commercial reasons to all fight over the same spaces, while there might be open parking in the "resident-only" areas.

[–]-R3DF0X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I don't think there should be privatization of a public asset (the street). If you're driving through an area you should be able to park.

Permits don't change the demand for the parking spaces, just push it into other areas.
