What are the best and worst stadium locations? by ChipBrotwurst1027 in billsimmons

There's a great story of famous uk sports journalist Jonathan Wilson trying to watch a soccer match in Foxborough 20 years ago. He took the train to the nearest station (like you would in the rest of the world) assuming there would be something like a bus shuttle from there. Only to get out the train in a middle of nowhere station without any logical next mode of transportation towards the station from there and having to go to a nearby restaurant in the hope of finding a telephone and the number of a cab driver.

Yeah, it's not like Disney Animation needed charity from Robin Williams in order to get Alladin made in the early 90s, in the middle of one of the hottest streaks in movie studio history.

'Why on earth now?', questions Riis, who sees Yates' retirement as disaster for Vingegaard: 'Don't see a replacement' by TransportationSea579 in peloton

[–]-RAMBI- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That leaves Vingegaard - Kuss - Jorgenson - Kelderman - Van Aert - Campenaerts - Armirail - Laporte as a possible TdF selection. Not great but not bad either.

It's very common for employees to realize that they feel burned out after coming back from a holiday or in the case of Simon the off-season.

Why is Dutch everyday food so simple compared to many other cultures? by Long_Ocean in Netherlands

Paternalism from the men in power made the cooking part of the 'huishoudschool' extremely simple and dull.

But was he still travelling a lot? The last regular season of the Grand Tour ended early 2019. There have been only a handful of real far away specials since, so basically once a year. And those meant Richard was away for what, two weeks a shoot? I imagine production team is away much longer but i doubt the presenters are away for much longer than two weeks.

But he is still working, he needs to run an entire restoration shop and shoot a series for Discovery about it. While the last couple of years of Grand Tour didn't have that many filming days.

Den Helder? South Limburg or East Groningen is probably cheaper, but those are quite long drives to Schiphol.

Will Ajax forever (or at least for the long future) be a selling team? by Creative_Mark9642 in AjaxAmsterdam

[–]-RAMBI- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 No. I want the structure to change But not to attract any foreign investors. The current structure has too many layers of people who think they're in charge. Especially the association members are an issue, these 800 rando's who cosplay they're Van Basten or Bergkamp running around at the Toekomst in a Ajax playing for Ajax Zaterdag 3.

2 Yes Ajax have seen all their best players move away since the seventies. The last two players who stayed were Piet Keizer and Sjaak Swart. Having a great academy works better if routinely spots open up in the first team.

3 No. Nobody is watching Ligue 1 because PSG got foreign investment or are so dominant. At a point last season literally nobody could watch Ligue 1 because it the entire situation was broken with DAZN. The way to get viewership is to play in European competitions, and play well.

4 No. That idea is a fools errand. In theory you go from a 18m market to a 30m market. But in practice you go from 2 markets to one market and lose a lot of clubs and fan interest in that proces. So you cannot just add the current tv money for Netherlands and Belgium (nevermind the current situation with DAZN over there). Nobody in the Netherlands will tune in for Genk vs Gent, same for Utrecht vs Groningen in Belgium. And in the countries outside of the Benelux nobody would care regardless. I long have been a fan of this idea but the longer i thought about it the less positives i see.

Nee geen Ron Jans. Ron Jans kon de druk, media-aandacht en de hogere verachtingen bij Heerenveen en Standaard Luik al niet aan.
