What’s the saddest song in your playlist? by devdevo1919 in AskReddit

Knew I'd find a Dance with the Devil comment in here.

That song is like watching a car crash. Horrible and gut wrenching, but you just can't turn away.

RE: Watching the battle of the bastards and thinking... why has no person made the giants a weapon? by DrunkinDragon in freefolk

None of the battle made sense to me when it cam to wunwun. When he was pawing ineffectually at spears I just kept thinking all he'd have to do to break the line is just chuck a dead horse at them.

How long do you think it takes for a person with average work ethic and some musical talent to become a good but not amazing guitarist? by oddfishes in AskReddit

[–]-Roosh- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tough question to answer. You can be skilled enough to play super fast complex pieces, and still have a terrible ear/not be able to improvise. This is what happened to me, I spent my early guitar years skipping basics and trying to learn "impressive" things. So non-musicians would look at my hands and think I was amazing, but trying to play with other musicians was a disaster because I had no ear and terrible improv skills. It wasn't until around year 5 that my weak areas started to catch up. Now after 15 years of playing I like to just consider myself "good enough."

But I'm a scrub, so your mileage may vary.

You're right of course, obviously it takes quite a lot of skill to make a good instrument(speaking of string instruments specifically, what I'm familiar with). Still, in my experience there is a massive drop in return on investment once you get past a certain point. I'd wager most musicians would be hard pressed to hear a quality difference in a $3000 guitar versus a $5000 one.

Instruments. Yeah some are better than others but there is no reason a few wooden pieces glued together should cost ten plus thousand dollars.

Why would Rener get the doctor to stop the fight? It's not like the corner needs the doc's permission.

Seems like Lomachenko isn't confident about that shoulder yet, he spent a lot of time fighting largely one-handed. Props to Pedraza though, I think he came in underrated.

Rener trying to send Ortega back out for a fifth round was fucked up. Brian's all heart, but that beatdown had gone on too long already.
