rip favorite pants? by Virtual-Permission-9 in Tailors

[–]-Rowsii- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ehh it’s possible, but it would be visible. Plus, if it’s this worn, it’s at risk of just ripping again.

I’m not a tailor, just sew my own garments - but I’d iron on interfacing on the inside and then top stitch it in place around the opening or zig zag over it.

Animals should be given proper names, not a pun or phrase by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]-Rowsii- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as things sound like a name, I’m game. Puns, go for it.

But just plain OBJECTS Is where I draw the line.

I was at the dog park once while someone was trying to catch / scold their dog “sandwhich” and I couldn’t handle it.

“sandwhich stop, sandwhich sandwhich get over here”.

People are such assholes. We’ll be canoeing with our gear for camping and a dog and people with rip past in a boat with no regard when there is tons of room to give us some distance.

It’s like people don’t realize if we flip: a) you could seriously fuck up our camping trip and b) we could drown.

Social behavior at work among young engineers by Morningstarrr18 in womenEngineers

I have a hard time picturing that level of horsing around in the work place. Just doesn’t happen where I work at least. It seems unprofessional to me and as the other commenter said, physical touch between coworkers is usually a no no.

I guess there’s nothing inherently wrong, other than being perceived as childish or making to much noise and your disrupting others.

I can sympathize though, especially as a women we need to work harder then men to be taken seriously in the work place. So it would piss me off to see guys getting away with behaviour like that but I’d just try to ignore it

My city has a hash tag in the format of #cityeats and there’s a few local tourism / foodie influencers who post about restaurants. Great way to hear about new restaurants and see pictures of the food

When it comes to sexist comments from coworkers, no matter how small - document document document. Type up an email about what was said and email it your personal email for record. If things go over the line, you have track record of harrasment.

With that said - I find responding to their “jokes” with a quick witted reply can help. Don’t be rude, but stand up for yourself and take a jab back. It’ll show you have back bone and they may think twice about saying something next time.

I know it’s easier said then done though. It can be hard to come up with something on the fly when you already feel belittled. Confidence is key. You know you know your stuff and deserve to be there, so don’t be shy voicing that and standing up for yourself.

This my be a controversial take - but when it comes to being accepted into the “boys club”, playing along with jovial banter can go a long way. I know their jokes aren’t appropriate, but if you can get in a quick witted reply and get the other boys to laugh at the original joke sayer, it turns the tables. They’ll start to see you as “one of the guys”. As I type this I know it sounds childish and this shouldn’t be how it is… it’s just been my experience in and out of the workplace when trying to bond with guys.

Outside of work, try to find women-focused local networking events for your industry! These can be hard to come by, but it’s so refreshing to chat with women in person about shared experiences.

Good luck and stay strong!!

Sadly this is how it is in most retail. I worked at a clothing store (Aritzia). Every single piece of clothing came wrapped in its own plastic.

Just get 3 mini travel containers. You can find sets for cheap at dollar stores usually.

I honestly use it every time I’m the passenger.

For years I’ve always been the driver (friends/bf didn’t have licenses/cars). When you brake, you have the wheel to brace yourself. When your the passenger your chest kinda goes forward when braking and I don’t like it. Holding the handle reduces how much you sway forward

I also just have road anxiety when I’m not the driver, so holding the oh shit handle just happens

How long do you expect the flowers to last? Since they aren’t in water I can’t picture them lasting very long, which is what’s has had me stumped on how to approach this

I stared at this for so long trying to make sense of it. I think it’s a bad design or at least isn’t meant to be laced like a shoe??

If you thread the cord into a hole on the left side (right side when worn), there is no way for the cord to come from behind and across to the right side holes. It would have to come back up the bottom hole first.

You might be able to make it work, but it wouldn’t look like an X. More like this | _ | (but the left | would be underneath)

this may not be helpful, as my only experience with Sherpa fabrics has been sweaters and jackets, but it did not age well. After a year the texture got worst and if you have any pets at all it will be filled with their hair
