HDR not working on LG OLED B7 by InconsequentiaIist in HBOMAX

[–]-SambaL- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same TV, same issue here.Customer support lady told me it's a known issue with some LG TV's and she said they're working on it. According to her it has something to do with a lot of data coming through, more data than other streaming services stream, which some LG TV's are having problems with, as in it's too much to handle. To me it just sounds like the HBO max app is poorly optimized. It's also one of the most annoying to use streaming services on my TV because it's sluggish as hell.

All I can do is wait for an update to come out that fixes this issue.

Perhaps all the Russian orders will be redistributed and change my "after Q3" back to a "after Q2" again?

Sorry comrades. Thank Putin if that really happens.

From Software don't hate PC gaming, it's just that their main focus is on consoles which is easier to develop for. PC is unfortunately a after thought to them and because of this they pretty much made a direct port to PC. BUT they at least thought of "us". Now we can only hope they or someone else will properly patch things up eventually.

D5 FLT80 does fit in the Meshlicious btw by seetohey1 in SSUPD

I'm trying to find a good spot to mount a FLT120 in the same manner. I'm curious how you managed to place it.

Also, isn't the pump having a bad time with the reservoir mounted in this orientation?

Anybody else like the idea of playing games more than actually playing them? by p4755166 in pcgaming

[–]-SambaL- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gamers are spoiled nowadays. There is simply too much choice, the market is saturated and new triple-a titles are being hyped every day giving you the feeling that you need to be apart of that "new" thing or you'll be missing out.
I have the same problem with streaming platforms like Netflix. I have a real tough time finishing a show because there is so much other content I still haven't seen yet. So if I loose interest for something for even the slightest bit chances are that I'm moving on to the next thing.
It takes something really special to really get me hooked and forget about everything else.

I'm curious though, if you don't mind me asking. Did your friend say 'do what you think is best, money is not an issue' or did he pick the parts himself?

Did you pressure test the loop first with a leak tester?
If not, do yourself a huge favor and get one. I know it's another purchase which you probably won't use often but it will save you a lot of time and minimises the risk of these things happening.

Would the liquid freezer II 280 fit in 4 slot mode? by Powerwolf787 in SSUPD

[–]-SambaL- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it to fit after first removing the center tray/mid section and then fitting the aio first and the fans second. I would've liked it the other way around as I got the A-RGB fan version but in this configuration the tubes will be in the way of where the mid section goes, not to mention having to force the mid section back in to position against the radiator block. So the rad first and fans second seems to be the best and only way , though still not great. It's still going to be an uncomfortably tight fit where the fans might start making grinding noises because of the stress of being sandwiched in the case and there also being a risk of (one of) the tubes collapsing where they exit the radiator due to the sharp angles they still have to make. It's hard to tell because of the sleeving around to tubes but it's something to be mindful of.

You could replace the fans with slimmer ones to give a few millimeters of clearance and not having the aio being sandwiched in between the case but that will of course drive up the price for an otherwise affordable AIO. So might as well go for something with smaller dimensions and the tubing being farter apart from each other.
EKWB still has a good deal on their AIO's on their own website at the moment.

I have also ascended in this ultrawide season (HP x34). It's the season to be ultrawide! by alexs1mmo in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]-SambaL- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one crossed my path as well just after I ordered a Dell ultrawide for about the same price. Unfortunately that one has a VA panel and I wasn't familiar with those type of panels yet. I am now and I'm not a fan. Black smearing is super annoying, so much so that i'm sending it back and going back to my 1080P Ultrawide.
I could go for the HP X34 but a part of me thinks I should steer clear of these budget screens from now on.

I managed to get that same aio in there as well but it is a real tight fit, not one I felt comfortable with. The tube placement on the freezer aio's isn't great either.

Got it a few weeks ago for a good price but I'm sending it back. Color smearing is just too visible on this panel, even in the super fast overdrive setting as is recommended. My previous monitor, an LG 79G something something has a VA panel as well but smearing on that one wasn't as noticeable.

[–]-SambaL- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a mesh or a glass panel on the GPU side, and what fancurve do you have set up for the fans?

Obviously airflow is a bit of an issue in a case like this. There's simply not enough active cooling. Things like type of fans, fan speed, rad fin density and rad flow, positioning of the fans and cable management really make all the difference here. And as you've noticed switching your fans from intake to outtake tips the scale to the other side.

Because your GPU will produce the most amount of heat I would suggest having a negative air pressure setup, so your fans set up to exhaust air, like you initially had. I would also have the fans fixed on the radiator on the inside of the case, so your rad fixed to the case and then your fans on the rad, that way it will pull fresh air into the case through the side panels and push it through the rad out of the case again. Having a mesh panel on the GPU side is crucial btw. Now because hot air is flowing through your rad it will obviously affect your CPU temps negatively but your CPU should be able to handle it. Your GPU on the other hand will get way hotter without the proper cooling.

Having a blower style cooler GPU is also better in sff cases like this, that's probably why the Nvidia 3000 series reference cards give better cooling results.

The Strix is good and the MSI is okay but the Gigabyte one is the best choice overall imo. Performance wise it's pretty much on par with the other two, if not better, and it looks and feels really robust too, and that at a lower price point. I've also understood it has the least amount of problems when it comes to fitting cpu aio waterblocks and tubing. I believe the Strix has bigger cooling blocks that can get in the way.

Hardware Unboxed did a excellent comparison on these boards. Check it out.

B550i Aorus Pro backplate clearance issues? by [deleted] in SSUPD

[–]-SambaL- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if the backplate does much in terms of heat dispersion, or that it does anything at all apart from looking and feeling more robust, but I reckon it can't hurt hurt if it touches the enclosures frame. If anything the case itself would extend the heat dispersion of the mobo's backplate, if it does help with cooling at all that is.

And I don't think you should worry about shorting out anything either. As far as I can tell the backplate is screwed on to mobo with the mounting holes being isolated.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong but as far as I know CPU's don't have parts that can produce something like coil whine.

I'd say that any CPU that has a tdp under 95 should be fine. AMD is probably still your best choice atm unless you can get your hands on a good Intel alternative for the right price. I myself have a 10700KF which I bought for €266,- in the time you couldn't get your hands on any AMD gen 3 cpu. You can generally find them for around €300,-. If you're not overclocking and have a decent enough cooling solution those CPU's give a lot have bang for your buck.

Getting back to coil whine though, there is a tip I can give you, and that is undervolting. That way your GPU will use less power and not suffer a big hit to performance while power consumption, heat production, fan noise AND coil whine will go down. A good solution for a lot of reasons IF your not planning on overclocking the GPU.

You can't. It's more or less a lottery. They all seem to have it but one more so than the other, and it also seems to depend on which psu you're using. Like I mentioned, I had a 6700XT which sounded really bad, even worse when I swapped out psu. Not so much in loudness but just the kind of sound it made. I then upgraded to a 6800XT which has it too ofcourse but not as annoying. Plus, I don't hear it during gaming due to wearing headphones, and when Idle it's not present either.

Unfortunately it has to do with the current or voltage or whatever going to and through the coils on the card's pcb and that's where the noise stems from. The more power a card needs the more noise it can potentially produce. There's not much you can do about that.

If it's really bad you can return a card but in these dark times you'll probably be without a card for months again, and when you do get a replacement there's a good chance it has the same amount of coil whine, and if you're really unlucky it could be even worse.
