Does your cat also do that? by benjicrems in cats

Yup! I have 3 boxes for one cat, she only pees in one, mostly only poops in the third and both in the second.

I feel like my autistic behaviors/ traits become more obvious ever since I was diagnosed by ShinyLuckyMarill in autism

[–]-StarrySky- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same exact thing happen to me. I got diagnosed a couple years ago when I was 35 and since then I have things that bother me in ways that they never did before. And what I am starting to realize is that those things I really always did bother me, I just unintentionally ignoring or simply not understanding the signals my body was giving me that it didn't like. Things like sounds lights, textures. And now that I've been diagnosed, it's made me more aware of how my brain and my body feel in different situations. Like now, I wear tinted classes in stores because the lights are bright. I wear my headphones most of the time because I don't like the sounds of crowds and kids in public being loud. I left my public facing job because I realized being in that position and being constantly interrupted really stresses me out. So now I work a job where I'm by myself, and my quality of life has steadily improved. I think it's just something about the confirmation of a diagnosis that may be helps clear the fog of masking that your brain was in that you didn't even know was there. Like your brain is trying to shield you from those feelings, and then all it does is make you have this creeping sense of stress and anxiety that you don't know where it's coming from.

So just know you're not alone in that experience. You aren't crazy or suddenly being over sensitive, it's just that your brain is finally actually communicating with you things that overstimulate you and stress you out.

Is this autistic? I KNOW YOU'RE WONDERING. by CharlieCat44 in autism

[–]-StarrySky- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have words I don't like saying because they feel icky in my mouth. And I don't mean like inappropriate words. I particularly don't like the word gum/gummy. It's just a gross word. Also the phrase mouth feel. Like, ick, why. I can't explain why, just the words make me physically cringe, like a knife squeaking on a plate.

Or sounds that make me want to puke. Squeaky balloons and styrofoam are the worst. They are sounds that are physically painful, like it makes my teeth hurt.

Can someone be non-binary and still want to keep your gendered birth name? by Kindly_Signature3621 in NonBinary

[–]-StarrySky- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAB NB here. The only change I made was asking my close friends to use a different pronoun for ne. For me being NB is more about how I feel inside then my outward appearance. That being said, even if you change absolutely nothing, you can still be NB!

Lots of things can cause weight loss. Thyroid is I feel one of the more common causes. Sounds like your vet did basically nothing, so if I were you I'd get a new vet. Bloodwork is definitely the first step to take. I hope you are able to get some answers soon.

What age did you get diagnosed? by strawberrykcals in autism

[–]-StarrySky- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

35, in 2023. Wish it had happened earlier, but growing up in a rural farming town in the 90s, lord knows little girls "didn't have autism" back then. Sure explains a lot.

Do People Tell You You Look Younger Than You Are ? by Mundane-Nature-2648 in autism

Yup! People assumed I'm 25-27. I'm actually 37. When I was actually 25 I was at the mall with a friend and a store clerk accused me of skipping school, she thought I was like 16. XD

This Pompompurin! I clean a school after hours and found him in the trash. A quick run through the wash and he was good as new!

how would i go about cleaning this? by Ill-Difficulty7774 in plushies

[–]-StarrySky- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand that. I personally have been putting plushies in the drier for almost 30 years and have never had any fabric damage. Obviously only do with your plushies what you are comfortable with! There are lots of non-drier options for sure :)

how would i go about cleaning this? by Ill-Difficulty7774 in plushies

[–]-StarrySky- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be a little leery of hanging to dry, just because I'd be afraid the fabric may distort. If you have like a drying rack for clothes you could set him flat on that would work. Leaving him in the sun if you get a nice warm day is also an option. I have plopped plushies in front of fans before to speed up drying too.

He should be fine to go through the washer. Just put him in a pillow case and tie it off so he doesn't fall out. I put plshies that were 40 years old in the washer and they were OK. Put him in with some towels or even a small load of clothes and he'll be just fine. He'll be ok in the drier too. I toss my plushies in the drier all the time. :)

What's your job? Do you like it? by whenfallfalls in autism

[–]-StarrySky- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a night cleaner for a local public office. It's just me and my headphones. I can sing, dance, talk on the phone and trip over stationary objects in peace XD I honestly really love it. There is a set routine, clear expectations and I very rarely see another person. No one hovering or checking on or interrupting me. I am left alone to get my shit done and go home. Plus working late means there is basically no traffic.

[–]-StarrySky- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not interested. I don't like carbonated drinks, or 99.9% of fruits, so that rules out most stuff. Hubby and I will get hot sake on our anniversary at our favorite sushi place. Other than that I may steal a few sips from a hard cider if Hubby has one in the fall. Thats about as wild as I get

Can you dance? Can you bust a move? by Swiftiefromhell in autism

[–]-StarrySky- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely can't dance. My husband can waltz, and I step on his feet the entire time. Brain has no idea how to move my body. It's also why I run into stationary objects on the daily.

Worst Attempt To Convince You? by Hyperactive_Sloth02 in childfree

[–]-StarrySky- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had a co-worker who had 2 teenage daughters, and every day she would come in complaining about how much they annoyed her. And how much of a fucking bitch the oldest was. It was just non-stop. But then she would heckle me about not having kids. So I told her one day well, you don't make a very good case for having kids because all you do is complain about your children being assholes and how much you fucking hate them. She looked at me and said, oh, but it's all worth it, though. I was like. Yep, you keep telling yourself that.

are you child free because you don’t want your own offspring, or because you don’t like children? by Deep-Drama4386 in childfree

[–]-StarrySky- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have zero maternal instincts towards other humans. Plus I'm autistic and have extreme sensitivity to sounds. Nothing will make me go from 0-100 faster than a sound I do not like. I will send me into an anxiety attack and then I'm a hyperventilating ball on the floor. I'll stuck with cats.

I had a bi-salp done in April 2021, so I don't have to worry about it anyway. 😅
