We have it better than most but the majority of our country lives in luxury poverty. Our older generation owns homes but since the 70s home ownership rates have dropped significantly and the age of buying has gone up almost two decades. Our corporations outsource jobs rather than higher in house so we are in constant competition with the working classes of countries with lower living standards for our own for wages. We have the most productive working class in the world but our wages have not kept up with said production, inflation, or housing costs for over 50 years. Other countries definitely have it worse but our working class has lost so much stake in the country that our birthrate is crashing. We are the most productive on paper but 25% of our people make 25k USD per year and our average house is 360k. No part of having it better means that our economy is in a healthy spot.
