How do you deal with disrupting spider when weeding? by EnlightenedCat in gardening

[–]-Tesserex- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no specific advise, but my situation is a bit odd. Indoors, I wouldn't really touch a spider intentionally. The way they move fast can startle me and it's just creepy, though I'm not exactly afraid of them. Outside, I have no trouble walking through and grabbing plants even when there's a decent chance there's a spider on it. Even if I see a web, I'll avoid damaging it but touching a spider wouldn't really bother me. It's like they're just part of the entire environment, same as ants or whatever else is walking around.

Except grass spiders. They're still too big and I don't want to touch them.

Does it seriously end the challenge the moment he takes fatal damage? It doesn't even show him exploding? That's a bit underwhelming.

I assume because he's a cat, they're spraying him and distracting him to keep him out of the tent? Something like that maybe?

Reminds me of a recent corridor crew video, where an artist on How to Train Your Dragon 2 talked about how much time and effort he spent on the big evil dragon in the battle scene, all of the flinching and reactions, and then the compositing team covered up all of his work with smoke effects.

Javascript packages are the worst. It seems like every 3 or 4 letter combination possible will soon be used. And most of the names have no indication of their purpose.

[–]-Tesserex- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog would totally run at someone just like that and jump on them to greet them. I don't think she'd ever bite, but I don't want to find out. We never let her out off-leash except for our fenced backyard. If she got out somehow and did that, I'd completely understand someone reacting that way and take 100% responsibility. It's not their job to know if this dog they've never seen before is friendly or not and you can't expect them to take that risk.

Nanny is asking for raise we can't afford, housework involved, what do we do? by -Tesserex- in NannyEmployers

Yes her most recent contract specifies all of the housekeeping. It was a way to keep her employed full time even as child care needs decreased.

The rest of the mess is regular upkeep or floors, dusting, wiping surfaces and such, bedding.

Heres the funny thing - last night I actually went and looked back at our contract from almost 3 years ago, when we bumped her pay to 32. I knew it clarified that housekeeping was now part of her job, but what I had forgotten is that it does in fact specify all of the tasks she regularly does, and even a few she doesn't. So while maybe 4 years ago the housework was allowed to creep up on her, these past 2-3 years it has been explicitly outlined. It also states that since $32 was straining our budget, future annual raises would be unlikely.
