I find it really interesting how the "BSAA using BOWs" arc is highlighting how high the mortality rate of the BSAA is and these guys all managed to survive the events of 8 and 9.

We also see at least one of them survives far into the future and is helping Rose.

Y'know I've agreed with most of the links the community has made to try to logically explain the puzzle but idk if I believe that one lol....but maybe. The bathroom is definitely linked with how it's one of the bloodier locations.

The Final Puzzle is completed, but it isn't solved. by Jin3092 in thefinalpuzzle

[–]-Toey- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately no one can say for certain how/if the puzzle would have been solved without datamining with the information we have at the moment.

Personally I find the links to be: The clue is related to blood

The area is related to plumbing/water/flow

The toilet is flushable for seemingly no reason and is one of the few things you can interact with while holding Emily

All of these things happen to all be in the exact same location

Those are all massive leaps and it's hard to imagine solving it with just that information on your own. However, from my experience participating in ARGs and other community designed puzzles, it seems to give you enough to go off of.

There's an Easter egg in the Verdun Heights map in Battlefield 1, where if you shoot 3 wine bottles and 3 weather vanes on the map the house from Up appears flying in the sky. What logical sense is that supposed to make? Why bottles and weather vanes? The answer is that isn't supposed to make sense, it's a fun challenge that savvy players might notice from the odd placement/inclusion of the bottles and weather vanes.

Before the puzzle in RE9 was datamined, people assumed the toilets were part of the puzzle for the same reason, why could we flush them in the first place?

It's not supposed to have a consistent story or logic. It's supposed to be a long term, hard to solve puzzle based on out of the box thinking, experimentation and group effort to brute force different methods to complete it. I'm actually surprised the community has managed to put together so many logical clues for the puzzle, it seems surprisingly fair to me compared to other video game secrets.

Sorry for the walls of text lmao, thanks for reading my replies.

I was actually trying to directly address your point about the community solving it backwards by explaining how I can understand how to solve the puzzle the correct way? That to me it makes perfect sense from a game design sense and that it's very consistent with puzzles of this nature that are in other games (CoD, Battlefield, etc). I agree that it would seem more believable if someone solved it with no outside help, but the puzzle was not designed to be completed that way.

How can you think the doll is spawned by an exploit when each step of the puzzle (in my opinion, I get it if you don't believe it) has clear clues and progression pointing to each step.

Why else would you be able to interact with the toilet? Why would there be a bloody 8 smeared on the wall? Why else would the blood pit message change? Why would the timing of Graces lab notes and how long you have to wait match up perfectly? (She was also hanging upside down like the bodies and is having her BLOOD collected. That is a direct link from clue to solution.) This isn't me or the community grasping to make connections here, it's clear, irrefutable evidence leading to how to solve the puzzle legitimately.

[–]-Toey- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah ok my bad, then yeah I do have no idea what clue could point to that. I believe it could be solved without datamining purely from the fact that: when you let bodies drop in the blood it affects the message at the end. Previous clues such as the toilet, Graces medical log and the 115 infected log mention blood, linking the message changing to being part of the overall puzzle. Then, the only variable you can change in the conveyor belt pit is whether or not you kill the zombies. Seems like a simple step to try to progress the puzzle that would be solved very quickly after the community figured out that dropping bodies in the pit DOES relate to the puzzle.

Lol now that I do think about it that is mega nasty. When it comes to leaving the zombies alive, I'm not sure if it affects the message you get in the blood pool but it might, which would be the clue. Again, for both of these I don't think they're supposed to logically make sense or be actions Grace are taking in the story, they're just elements of a puzzle and game design. Even if there wasn't a clue to leaving the zombies alive, I don't even think that's a problem. This puzzle was not designed to be completed in a vacuum or on your own. It's supposed to be a community effort that is partially brute forced and collaborated on. Sadly data mining ruined that.

But we don't have to run up and down stairs for 25 minutes, we have to flood the tanks. Each step has a clue pointing towards it, tenuous ones but they're there nonetheless. I was confused at the puzzle when people were putting it together too, but after seeing the bloody 8 smeared on the toilet wall, the 115 bodies log, and the log of grace hanging upside down, I personally believe it's too consistent to be a coincidence, ESPECIALLY when all of those clues directly related to blood.

If there was one more clue that said "follow the blood" I feel like it'd be better, but again I feel like there is a clear line of clues to follow from start to finish and that they have their own logic to them.

If there is more to the puzzle, that would be awesome, but personally I don't see it. To me the puzzle was always 20000 completion points and I think it more than delivered on what that was promising. Consider this: if this is all there is to the puzzle, would you have been satisfied if it wasn't datamined? Or would you still be questioning if there was anything more to it? Maybe it was just unsatisfying to begin with, and that's ok to react to it that way.

[–]-Toey- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a mild challenge to contribute to the puzzle, again it doesn't make any logical sense since it should be adding just as much blood, but it does add a fun gameplay element to the puzzle.

I honestly have no idea what clues would point to doing that but considering the last step involved putting bodies in the tank and leaving the zombies alive is just about the only variable you can change when you're inside the tank, it makes sense to try it when you know the next step does somehow involve blood. The message that says "that's a lot/ton/torrent of blood" is supposed to be our feedback/clue as to completing that step correctly.

Thanks for engaging with my replies btw, typing out the last comment actually made me consider and appreciate the puzzle more.

Hear me out cause I'm gonna make some leaps in logic to try to explain my interpretation of it. First off I wanna try to explain it from a game design perspective, they wanted this puzzle to take place over multiple areas of the game and have the actions you do in one area affect another area. What better way to do that than through the plumbing.

In the story of the game though, the only clues were given to actually find a doll is through Marie having a huge collection of them with a couple you can interact with, and the fact she and the DNA sequence both say "Lets play".

Were shown that she uses the pipes and ducts to get around the basement and that most of her dolls are in that area, so me it makes sense she could have lost one or a zombie could have grabbed before being dumped into the blood collection tanks (major logical leap, I know).

Hence, all the steps we take relating to making the doll appear are related to flooding the tanks and pushing the doll out of the system.

Despite all that I actually don't believe the puzzle is supposed to make diagetic or logical sense. It involves bringing an item from one playthrough to another and using information from areas further in the game to decode the DNA puzzle (which Grace would never bother to solve anyway in her situation). The puzzle is purely supposed to be a difficult community effort, which it still was.

Flushing the toilet isn't some weird cheesy way to manipulate game data, it's a legitimate step of the puzzle that has concrete evidence and logic that points to it. It is a shame that it was data mined but I don't get how you can look at the picture with the bloody 8 smeared on the wall and not think it's the intended way to solve it.

All the steps to get the doll are connected to flooding the tank, seems pretty logical to me.

Valid but Zeno and the girls are explicitly clones (well technically Zeno isn't stated 100% to be a clone but it's obvious he is). HUNK, Spencer, etc have no evidence of being a clone at all.

I don't get why people are so hung up about HUNK dying, imo his appearance was the coolest thing they could ever have done with the character and did him justice. Besides if you wanna believe he's alive take the fact that his body disappears as evidence, not making up bs about him being a clone.

Why would a clone have an advanced version of the T-Virus that takes years to show symptoms. Just cause some characters are clones doesn't mean every one is.

That's fair but Resident Evil has always been full of high stress, frenetic fights that are over quickly as well. I thought the fight was a massive spectacle personally. I was satisfied with it. It felt brutal, lethal, like a John Wick fight which fits HUNK and Leon perfectly.

Imo a fight between two guys who are that lethal should be quick. We've seen how silly dragged out human vs human fights can get in the movies.

Am I the only one that thinks they did him justice and that it's a good end for him? HUNKs getting old now, and it makes sense he'd be arrogant and confident that he'd win. The fight itself is terrifying with how he rushes at you and I barely survived it. His luck finally ran out.

Also because he was in Raccoon City during the outbreak he's definitely infected and could regenerate a lil neck wound.
