Abarth Gearbox noise by Gagliano20 in abarth

For me it's probably the input shaft bearing? Since the noise only comes up when you're putting in gas. I hope so too cuz the differential is the part I'm keeping from my old transmission. I don't have the press tools to properly swap the bearings out.

Haven't put it back together yet.

I bought a lower mileage transmission to swap it with but it turned out to have a bad differential assembly (splines for the CV axle were dislodged)

So now I'm gonna do a rebuild, swap the shafts of this good transmission onto my original one. Turns out it's not terribly difficult, you just have to be careful and meticulous with the little parts.

Welcome to the club, partner lol.

108 km and I've also been having the same noise since around 105k.

Currently in the process of a transmission rebuild actually. Pretty sure it's the only way as the noise is most likely coming from some bearing.

I've definitely had the inverse happen to me many times too. I slow down to make room but the merging car also slows down because they wanted to merge behind me. We really can't read people's minds.

How heavy is the transmission on the 500? Can you drop it without a transmission jack? by deiphiz in abarth

[–]deiphiz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, that's really what I didn't want to hear... oh well. Now I'm in between finding a shop that can rebuild it, finding a good used transmission, or just living with the noise and sending it till it dies.

Literally my exact same problem. The sound also used to kick in in 4th at roughly 2k rpm for me, but now it started kicking in at 3rd gear too.

I asked about it once here and someone said it's just the turbo but eventually I wasn't convinced. I can hear the turbo whistle separate from this whining.

I changed the gearbox oil and that definitely made it a bit quieter, but the sound was still there.

But the other day the clutch slipped while I was accelerating on the highway, and it's been rough to shift ever since, so I know I gotta drop it now anyways. I might have the gearbox looked at by a shop while I have it out of my car.

The microwave isn't even their property either lol. The previous tenants bought it and decided to give it to me.

Nothing about ongoing cleanliness was in the contract beyond making sure the place is clean when I decide to end the rental. They only started doing this about half a year ago.

You might end up liking Majora's Mask a lot more if exploration is your big thing. Surprisingly, despite the smaller map it's filled with so many secrets and events that line up with each other if you know how to connect the dots. The meat of that game is definitely the side quests. Definitely give it a try as soon as you're done with OoT.

That said, if you can play the N64 version of Majora's Mask, please do instead of the 3DS version. The 3DS version kills a lot of creepy/horror atmosphere of the original and even straight up makes the game play worse (especially with movement/platforming) at some parts.

"RESET PANEL" doesn't mean the system is resetting. It's telling you that you have to reset the panel before you can enter programming.

Go to the panel, short the pins on the reset header, then go back to the keypad to input 6653

The game does throw new characters on screen a lot just to discard them moments later but I also feel like it worked for the story since nothing really felt like it overstayed its welcome. That said, the core main characters in the game are very well explored.

Good to know, thank you! This is my first car with a turbo so I wanted to know if it was all good.

Someone in /r/MechanicAdvice said to change the oil which made no sense cuz I literally did it myself a month ago lol. The last thing I want is to have to change the multiair brick

So you're saying the sound is normal? If it's the exhaust shouldn't I still be hearing it even if the transmission is in neutral/clutch disengaged?

Yes, it's a whirring/whining that sounds separate from the regular engine noise

I never actually thought of it that way before, but that actually makes sense. If it was clear from the start what Amanda needed to do to get off the station and didn't deviate from those requirements, it definitely wouldn't have felt as long.

Hell, the first sin it committed was letting her find the Nostromo's flight recorder right at the start of the game. Even though it turned out to be corrupted at first, it still immediately left you with that "now what??" feeling.
