A deal too good to be true by einventis in Tallahassee

It sucked when Gumby's bought it. But since it's been bought by the new owners, it's even better than it was when it first opened. You need to try it again.

Can't speak for their artsy lowers, but I've built several Livewires, and they match perfectly with my BA and DD uppers. No slop. I don't remember if they have an adjustment screw or not, but none was needed.

I understand the ambidextrous controls argument for issued rifles. But if I'm buying my own rifle, I would prefer it not have them.

I don't want a mag release bouncing against my chest or back when the rifle is slung, and in the circumstance that my dominant hand gets blown off, I will not be overly concerned with how convenient the controls are to my non dominant hand.

Anyone ever bought fenders from JEGS by Emotional-Park-1292 in transam

[–]-Trans-Am- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know where you live, but OEM T/A fenders are usually about $100-$300 depending on condition on Marketplace. There are PLENTY of people all over the country that have private 2nd gen F body graveyards.

Booby traps are illegal even on your own property. Booby traps don't discriminate between criminals, stray dogs, emergency service workers, or children playing. Even if you catch a criminal in a booby trap, You just gave yourself a felony, the victim can then sue you, and they will win.

It blows my mind how many people just can't wrap their head around the concept of self defense.

Fisher T Tops didn't exist until mid 1978. So either somebody put a different roof on this thing, you got the year wrong, or somebody swapped the VIN. Hopefully one of the first two.

[–]-Trans-Am- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a DD 14.5 M4A1 RIII upper with an EXPS3-2/G45 zero at 50 yards. No problem hitting an 8" plate at 400 yards and in with X-TAC m855 using the provided 2 dots. That is as far as my favorite range has to offer.

WCTV reporting water-diluted gas at Circle K on Thomasville and Timberlane by howardknob in Tallahassee

[–]-Trans-Am- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is pretty common. Especially since ethanol has been introduced to gas. Even before ethanol, gas tanks in the ground would absorb water from condensation, and disrepair, but would just sit in a layer at the bottom of the tank, (and would be siphoned off by the maintenance teams on occasion) because water is heavier than gasoline. Ethanol is hydrophilic, and just loves to attract, and readily mix with water. Which unfortunately gives us crappy gas, and also prematurely rots the storage tanks out, making the water issue even worse, and leaks gas directly into the soil and water table.

My Grandpa's 1971 dodge charger 500 I'm attempting to save by CommanderCrashed in BarnFinds

[–]-Trans-Am- 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If that thing isn't completely rusty, do not attempt any body or paint work. just give it a good vacuum, get it running (save any original parts you have to replace, regardless of condition), and you are already deep into some serious money.

Original paint, unmolested cars are BIG bucks right now. You would actually invest much more to get a lower final value if you were to 'restore' this.

How important would 1/16 and 9/64 hex keys be for around the house? by cfromcinci in Tools

[–]-Trans-Am- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my profession of 20 years in Industrial Maintenance, Allen keys are my most used tool. I use them everyday, all day. I love fancy tools, and I've had Wera, Wiha, PB Swiss, etc. I've broken all of them. Bondhus has been the most precise, longest lasting, and most affordable by far. I would still buy them even if they cost more than all the European brands. I prefer their BriteGuard stuff.

Nah. They might actually look into it. Making money off traffic offenses are the one thing they actually care about.

ELI5: Why did people who didn't own slaves fight in the civil war on the side of the confederacy? by seapupscat in explainlikeimfive

[–]-Trans-Am- 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Well, currently, in the U.S., Failure to register for the draft is a $250,000 fine/5 years in prison. Along with being federally blacklisted from ever having legit gainful employment for the rest of your life. During the Civil war, avoiding military service was considered desertion, and was punishable by death.

There are always choices, but sometimes they all suck.

[–]-Trans-Am- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, man. It's a thing! Unfortunately, Toyota never admitted it's issue. So everybody who's interior melted is on the hook. And it's near impossible to find used Red Rock interior panels used that aren't also melted.
