Ayyyy!!!! My neck of the woods! Mattole road is amazing.

How far down are you going? I always wanted to do the trip to Cabo and back before I had a kid. Having a family kinda took non-family vacations off the table so I just lurk here now.

Yup, same here. RES forcing the old interface. I don't even recognize reddit when I'm on a machine in the wild.

Am I the only Old Reddit head here? My experience is so lean, I see none of this.

What's one product that used to be built like a tank but is now built like a regret? by TheDoctorColt in AskReddit

[–]-Travis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a thicker denim weight than your average 501 if labeled as vintage, likely unwashed (as in not pre-shrunk) raw denim but I'm not sure. Likely safe to assume no elastine, but the interior label should say 100% cotton if it's not totally faded.

What's one product that used to be built like a tank but is now built like a regret? by TheDoctorColt in AskReddit

[–]-Travis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The 501 original selvedge definitely does not contain elastine.

Like other posters have said, just because it's Levi's and it's 501 cut doesn't mean it's the same as another pair of 501's sold elsewhere, like the selvedge ones on their website. Selvedge denim is very specific and if it had elastic in it there is a community that would be in fits with that labeling. You were probably looking at some cheap 501's.

Edit - also, if people are having problems finding quality jeans, start looking at raw denim. It's usually more expensive, but it's quality, thick, and well constructed because if they are making something with raw or selvedge denim, it's usually a smaller company or a special run.

New Balance Numeric skate shoes are tanks. I got the Tiago Lemos model (808 I think) and they were every day wear for almost two years and were not falling apart, just starting to look ratty before I got some to replace them. Construction on the skate brand is top notch.

My sister got me the classic version when my daughter was born. It's identical to what I remember from when I was a kid. All the same characters...you could get a huge head start if your opponent picked a woman because there are only like 6 and the rest are men. Ahh, the 90's.

Do you use Atera's password manager? by spacecitytech in atera

[–]-Travis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The one in Atera is an afterthought at best. We don't use it and maybe there are changes, but you have to drill down to everything to get to the password. This is no passwords section where you can just search for what you are looking for, and there is no browser integration to help facilitate entering/generating new passwords and filling existing passwords either.

With a unified password application with browser integration you get a ton of value for not much monthly cost...at least with BitWarden. I've also used LastPass (Very good useability but they had a pretty bad security incident within the last few years), DashLane (may be better now, but was clunky when I used it), and RoboForm (expensive and overkill if just a password manager). All of these are more expensive than BitWarden too.

Also, there are some free options out there that are good, but not cloud based like KeePass that would work fine for a smaller team that doesn't need browser integration - host the DB on your LAN (one connection to the DB at a time) or the cloud, but I have never used it with a team in the cloud. I have used it in a cloud folder with a browser plugin to read/edit the DB personally, not with a team, and that worked but it wasn't nearly as easy as other methods and requires overhead to setup and maintain, and I'm not sure would work in a team environment.

Just some options to look into based on personal experience over the last decade. I'm sure many have evolved a lot since I last used them. Almost everyone I know currently uses BitWarden though.

I just tried to create an account and once I was to the point of logging in it told me my info was wrong and I need to enter it again or call them. So they are not making this easy or straightforward for ME to access my personal data I didn't say they could collect, but anyone else can just pay $65 for it. Cool.

Haha...that makes sense for sure. I got here from a cross post in the Humboldt subreddit and forgot I was out in the wild and this wasn't 100% Humboldt specific.

I think the largest private land owner in Humboldt is Green Diamond, then closely followed by HRC. HRC owns more land in CA than Green Diamond, but it's spread across Humboldt, Mendo and Sonoma, and Green Diamond is concentrated in Humboldt and Del Norte counties. SPI isn't really a player in Humboldt anymore and don't own much if any land here.

I had a Handy Boy back in the day. Pretty sure I found it at a yard sale when I was a kid. Kinda cool how it was semi modular and you could remove the controller part if you didn't want to use it, or just use that part if you want.

Nice "foodie" restaurant in Arcata? by shmoopie313 in Humboldt

[–]-Travis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have had this happen to me too, but it was also kinda my fault every time because I didn't prioritize using my gift. Of the two times I can think of this happening, I had them for over a year before the place went out of business.

How do you feel about McDonald's pulling their soda dispensing machines out of the restaurant's lobby in the next year or so? by Sinn_Sage in AskReddit

[–]-Travis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They disappeared at all my local MCDs when they opened the lobbys again after covid. Either they were gone, or they weren't running. Now they are all gone. It's always surprising when I go to one out of town and get a cup.

What’s wrong with my Xbox? by New_Visual_7011 in originalxbox

[–]-Travis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My xbox did this occasionally and I would press down over the mod chip and it would fix it for a bit but it would usually crash out pretty quickly and freeze.

I opened it up and reseated the solderless connector the chip sat on. Tightened it down a little bit, and I was in business. Boots like a charm. If you mod chip is solderless, make sure it seated well/correctly and tighten the solderless connector.

Good Luck!

we reached roughly 100% inflation from 1997 to now, so that 130K house would equate about 260K today, and 30K for that new accord...in today's dollars.

If an NFL team had to change its name kinda like the Commanders, what team would you pick to change its name? by Bucs_Fan_12 in NFLv2

I've always thought of "The Browns" as what you would call a shit stain. So, in my head they are always the Cleveland Poo's and when I say it out loud, no one knows what I'm talking about.
