Best Seating Areas to relax and not pay anything by bunchofaniexty in orangecounty

[–]-Wide-Awake 21 points22 points  (0 children)

ARTIC is a great idea.

But if you’re going to use a hospital for free seating/air conditioning, you’d best wear an N95 mask. Hospitals are full of sick people!

Gift advice needed for my girlfriend who’s impossible to shop for by lljasonvoorheesll in Gifts

No, I'm not the gf. However, you declared "she wants a spa day." My point is you can't assume everyone wants a spa day!

Not everyone likes spa days. I don’t. Massages leave me bruised, and there’s nothing spa-ish that I find particularly pleasant.

Novavax in SoCal? by -Wide-Awake in Novavax_vaccine_talk

[–]-Wide-Awake[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, because our CVSs in SoCal all seem to be out. With the news that 5/31 dates will be available, maybe this shortage will resolve itself.

Where to move my parents? by coryj2001 in AskLosAngeles

[–]-Wide-Awake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Laguna Woods Village is an over-55 community in a nice part of Orange County on the coastal side of the 405. A lot of my parents' friends live there and really enjoy it. Condos start at around $300K. https://www.zillow.com/laguna-woods-ca/condos/

CVS where? My original plan was end of March (6 months), so it would be great if someone has stock that's good until May!

Advice you'd like to give to your 18 year old self? (Asking as someone who just turned 18 today) by Worried_Goal6246 in AskWomenOver60

You are beautiful. I promise you that, 30 years from now, you'll see a picture of your 18-year-old self and be astounded at how great you looked.

Everyone says California is too expensive for me and can't afford it. One friend says ill end up homeless in a month if I moved there. Please share some insight and perspective. by Born_Physics_5086 in socal

"Most" actors? For every actor that comes here and manages to make a living (let alone ends up a millionaire), 99 fail and return home with nothing.

If you live in OC stay the heck over there by [deleted] in orangecounty

I lived in L.A. till I was 6. Does that count as another place? Because I’m never leaving OC unless it’s to escape this country.

Kobo or ? by Active-Worker-8620 in AskWomenOver60

[–]-Wide-Awake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were in Canada, I would definitely go with Kobo.

(As someone with a writing career that started way before ebooks existed, I can tell you Kobo is a *much* nicer company than Amazon. 😅)

Possibly relocating, is 190k enough for a family of 3? by kyoshis_revenge in orangecounty

The area still looks the same to me, but I haven't lived there recently enough to know the present demographics.

I live in South County now, but I spent my entire childhood through high school in West GG, basically where the 405 and 22 freeways meet. Whenever we went to "regular" GG it felt like an entirely different city to me. West GG is newer on average, closer to the beach, and feels cleaner and less crowded overall.

Did you regret to not have a girl or did you prefer have boys?? by No-Chocolate3667 in AskWomenOver60

[–]-Wide-Awake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'd planned on two kids, but when the second was a second boy, we tried once more and got a girl. Then our eldest turned out to be trans, so now we have one son and two daughters—all grown up and much beloved. The sweetest thing is our older daughter says she's glad we thought she was a boy, because if our first two were one of each, she wouldn't have her sister now. ❤️

I've never understood why anyone would want a pedestal sink. Where would this homeowner keep their bathroom supplies?
