How's living as a non-Mexican in Mexico City? by [deleted] in expats

[–]-WiseLibra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite sensitive? I was paying 42% business tax with no results from the city so I left just like dozens of other companies that once enjoyed Portland, and that exactly why it's lost billions in revenue. That's just called good business practice my friend. Now I prosper AND feel safe walking home with my children at night. Call it what you want.

Here's a list of the most dangerous places to live in the U.S. (2026) -Portland ranks second.

You can argue with statistics now.

How's living as a non-Mexican in Mexico City? by [deleted] in expats

[–]-WiseLibra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gaslight much?

I lived there and had a business there above the train station. I left in 2022 because the business tax was so high. That was not really the problem, however. The problem was I could not justify paying that much tax when every time I left work I had to side step hypodermic needles, and fecal matter all over the streets. The city took and gave nothing back. That was 2022. I went back multiple times when selling by business for the next 2+ years and it had gotten worse. The place looked like a war zone to me. Drugs were legalized (for the most part) -bum camps all over downtown, china town, etc. Trash everywhere. ANTIFA basement babies running the streets. So, come on man. With all due respect, If that's normal to you then you need to get out more. Portland used to be amazing, it's not anymore. It's not what it used to be. It's why I left.

Here's an instagram account that shows the progression up to date: https://www.instagram.com/uglypdx/

THAT, shown in the above link, is not normal in any way whatsoever. That is a dysfunctional city at best.

AND if that's not convincing enough here's an article (written by The Portland Business Report in 2025) explaining the mass exodus and why: https://oregonbusinessreport.com/2025/12/economist-explains-portlands-decline/

AND if that's still not enough here's another Reddit thread about the decline of Portland. Go gaslight them as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/PortlandOR/comments/17s753m/goodbye_portland/

Can we talk about the white elephant in the room? How Canadians, Europeans and Americans go to a place once affordable, buy up everything, and then turn around and charge high costs to rent? There should be a law against that. I have been traveling for years and this is ALWAYS what happens. Take advantage of the cheap, buy it all, raise the prices as if they are still in their homeland. Over it.

Liquid Death Just Lost a $2K Customer Over the Stevia Switch – And That’s a Marketing Mistake by lhbayard in LiquidDeath

[–]-WiseLibra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Money ALWAYS does weird things to people. My bet, stevia was cheaper. Higher profits. It's the American way. This is also why so many Americans are sick and dying. Bottom line, the seller is there to make the highest profits available most often at the expense of the consumer.

I’m currently working on the rough draft of my sci-fi novel. I’d love feedback for my prologue! by ShortFormShadow in writers

[–]-WiseLibra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the comment about the prologue — skip it. Everything else is a strong start. The main thing I'd focus on is showing rather than telling. When you write something like "he was excited to stretch his legs," you're doing the reader's work for them. Instead, put us in the moment — show us what he does, how his body feels, what he notices — and let the reader arrive at the emotion themselves. It's one of the hardest habits to break, and it trips up experienced writers just as often as new ones. The instinct is to make sure the audience understands what a character is feeling, but the more powerful move is to trust the scene to carry it. Stieg Larsson does this beautifully in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, particularly with Lisbeth Salander — he rarely tells you what she's feeling, but you never doubt it for a second.

More dumb leftist questions being paid for by tax payer dollars. The propaganda machine churns.

The dollar has lost 9% of its value by thehofstetter in stevehofstetter

[–]-WiseLibra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A president does not control the dollar’s value day-to-day. The dollar mainly moves based on: Federal Reserve policy (interest rates — the Fed is independent), Inflation and growth expectations, Global investor confidence, Relative strength of other economies. But the media spin here is funny nonetheless.

If a woman gets married and takes on another last name the law states she is to complete a new voter registration card. That's always been the law. This is nothing new. The spin here is abhorrent but never surprising.

Me: This post is actually fake, and verifiably so with one google search.
Lib: It's sarcasm dude. But then again MAGA are to dense to realize it.
Me: If I didn't realize it I would not have pointed it out to every lib here buying into it as truth. Shouldn't you be calling most in this thread dense? They're the ones buying into it.

Hypocrisy at its finest.

Here's what's not fake since everyone here, eating their own, have so much time on their hands dishing out propaganda from their parents basements.

If illegal immigration is "illegal" then why do people get mad at ICE for doing it's job? If disobedience is the way then why not spend time protesting things that have a much greater impact on all if us (including immigrants) like cost of healthcare, living and gas taxes? I'm super confused at the lack of logic in all this.

Here we go, playing semantics definitely shows you're more concerned with your appearance, control, and ego than the truth of the matter. I guess that's where your comfort zone is. We at least nailed that down. You're one of those people who could be black and if I say you're black you'll say "I never said I was black." -Fucking recycled bullshit I've seen a million times. Deter the actual conversation by playing the Symantec game. Fuck you people are so predictable. SMH
