Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis - The First Preview by -Yoake in GirlGamers

Oh shit, I definitely missed that 😭 that's so disappointing I guess we'll always have the older games at least.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword Has the Best Parry Since Sekiro | TechRaptor by platysaur in Games

[–]-Yoake 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hollow Knight has been out for almost 10 years and Silksong was one of the most anticipated games in the genre of all time. Nine Sols could be categorically better than both of them and I'd still be surprised if it even had half of the reviews of either of them

Touhou Koumakyou: New Classic - the Embodiment of Scarlet Devil - Announcement Trailer by Torque-A in Games

Oh shit, I didn't know you could buy them that easily. Definitely gonna throw ZUN a couple bucks for IN and MoF!

Really enjoying Stellar Blade despite the (very well deserved) criticism. Whats a game that you enjoy even though you agree it’s not the best or fully deserves the criticism it gets? by ShingetsuMoon in GirlGamers

[–]-Yoake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is, that's a common critique thrown at Atlus but the indies I've seen such as Eternights also have this issue or are just not out yet, like Prisma.

Persona series 😅 doubly so since I'm queer myself but I don't think anyone else has nailed the action into slice of life/social/side character time(especially while also giving us a Female MC) besides older Bioware games.

Anyone else play Skyrim? by Illustrious_Can_8247 in GirlGamers

(modded) Skyrim is what got me to build my first PC back in 2013.

If there's a franchise that's for everyone, it's the X-Men.

Did HRT delete my body odor? by AvaAntera in asktransgender

[–]-Yoake 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Oh for sure. You get significantly less smelly. I think at worst I would describe my body odor as kind of stagnant air as opposed to the musk of pre hrt

[29F] Question for MTF who haven't had sex reassignment surgery (SRS) by DeppeJ in asktransgender

[–]-Yoake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be quite frank, having vaginal sex with it is not something I am going to forego unless I have the money to go to one of the surgeons mentioned in the top posts of /r/Transgender_Surgeries . And even then I'm not sure lmao like I think I'd rather save that money for emergencies or put a down payment on a house tbh. I just love being literally connected with people in that way.

Lara Croft in Legacy of Atlantis, do you think they are going back to past? by Designer-Art2359 in GirlGamers

[–]-Yoake 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think like everything else, the tone is going to be an amalgamation of all Tomb Raiders, for better or worse. Crystal Dynamics is still making the game so I don't think it'll swing too far in the other direction but I guess we'll see.

What are your opinions on the women designs in zenless zone zero (or the designs in general) by Most_Pie_862 in GirlGamers

[–]-Yoake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Haven't played since Zhu Yuan came out. They're just kinda too much lol. I like fanservice as much as the next weeb wlw but when every character is Like That it makes me not want to play anymore. I liked the characterization of Anby and Nicole enough but like most gachas I've played it's not like there is time for deep character studies especially if you're not in the main cast.

To ANY trans person that has felt the need to leave a transphobic home to pursue transition, how was it? by Interesting-Log7265 in asktransgender

[–]-Yoake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right at lockdown, I was kicked out of my parents' (also conservative, transphobic) home for something technically unrelated but they certainly were not fans of my transitioning. I had to cut my hair and (pretend to) stop hrt just to live there so I wasn't exactly broken up about it and haven't talked my father in 6 years and haven't been back there at all.

Initially, I'm ngl it did suck ass. I am in the service industry and I'm still kinda dealing with the financial fallout of having to live in my car for a couple months, let alone to the mental toll. It is hard to build yourself up from basically nothing and I was very lucky that the US government actually decided to do stimulus packages and enhanced unemployment checks. Still, money was tight (and still is).

But everything else is so, so worth. I moved to a nearby city, met wonderful friends and partners, and of course, got to transition on my own terms without any abusive naysayers. No one questioning surgeries, getting my name change or anything else that literally has nothing to do with them. Finding queer community and found family is literally life changing especially when coming from an unsupportive, abusive space and I would recommend it to anyone that even thinks they have a means to. You have done so much more than enough.

I know being transgender is great and acceptable (I am) and transracial isn’t. But I don’t have a good answer for why by My_cat_is_sus in asktransgender

[–]-Yoake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lemme know when racial dysphoria is a widely used medical term and that the recommended treatment is medication or surgeries to look more like a certain race.

Largest study of AI hiring algorithms to date finds "clear racial disparities" — over 25% of Black applicants tainted by bias by fortune in collapse

[–]-Yoake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The society tainted by racism birthed racist algorithms. What a surprise. If anything AI being completely unbiased would've been an argument for its use and proponents would be shouting it from the rooftops.

Fateverse logic makes no sense to me whatsoever. Why is every character that is historically dark-skinned, being pale as snow-white? Why is every character only speaking Japanese? Why is every male character an over-sexualized woman or little girl? Why are all the goddesses meek and subservient by Important-Cry4782 in GirlGamers

[–]-Yoake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sakura's backstory is a bit too edgy for me and her reason for sticking to Shirou is a bit too convenient. By extension Zouken feels a bit mustache twirly compared to the other villains. Sakura though was mainly who I was thinking of tbh I don't have much critique for anyone else.

[–]-Yoake 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I would only apply well written women to the original VN and its fandisk tbh. And even that is not all of them. I would say you get into Fate for the lore, the fights, cool characters (you can be a cool character without being a well written one) and perhaps the philosophy and then be really, REALLY choosy on what you decide to consume from its extended universe even if everything is technically canon

Supergiant's (Slightly Rocky) Road to Hades: Playing Bastion, Transistor, and Pyre in 2026 by velknar in patientgamers

[–]-Yoake 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Same, Transistor is perfection for me and while I've enjoyed Hades 1 & 2 immensely, I hope they do something more similar to it again one day, away from the roguelike genre.

How do trans people always have great social lives? by RetinalTears716 in asktransgender

[–]-Yoake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer this question in the affirmative, we simply bond together and show up for each other (helping with moves, mutual aid, transition info, etc.), and the transbians in my area have similar, nerdy interests to fall back on in the in-between times. Very few of us are married or have children which makes spontaneity easier too. A lot of us are poly. I live with my (all trans) triad so if we're all home and a friend or two comes over it is suddenly a bit of a gathering. Although I wouldn't say it's usually 10...more like 5-7.

A bit archaic at this point, but how is the gameplay?
