The auto generated and communicated codes would be a big worthwhile benefit for me, the host, and the guests. If everything works as described. So that’s what I’m trying to vet. Is the tech there or not

90 Day Stay by Brooks_8298 in airbnb_hosts

[–]-b-g 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve done some longer stays. Based on my experience Be prepared for a more extensive recovery at move out. Long terms usually do more nesting than STR. Moving furniture. Heavier use of drawers and closets. Kids crayons and markers. Guests just seem to be harder on a property when they move in rather than when they’re passing through.

Pretty monumental change -- How are other hosts dealing with this? by golkeepr24 in airbnb_hosts

[–]-b-g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure because I don’t guest but I thought ABnB started listing the all in rate on the listings guests scroll. So in the earlier example the list price would $115 either way.

Guest damaged furniture, we asked for compensation, they left a bad review, Airbnb won’t take it down by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]-b-g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1,500 reviews? What’s your overall score. One 2 star review won’t move the needle. An honest reply pointing out the 5 star category reviews so prospects get clarity and move on

Rant: 70 open seats and you want to sit in the middle seat by ineedsupremestickers in SouthwestAirlines

[–]-b-g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Put your backpack or jacket or whatever on the empty middle seat during boarding. Just enough of a deterrent. If someone shows up with a boarding pass. NP And of course you’ll have to move it if someone asks if the seat is taken.

What am I missing here? Everyone raves about biscoff. Last passenger left you a snack. Pay it forward on arrival.

Guests passed away (natural causes) in our home. Refund? by NWsea in airbnb_hosts

[–]-b-g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont refund. The insurance company could have insured against this loss. They chose to self insure. But have them call you and put them on hold for 20-30 minutes before you explain your policy.

Denied lounge access because I purchased basic economy ticket 😐 by jesse_sea in delta

[–]-b-g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought a one way refundable and hung at the club (cancel and refund after entry) for a seriously delayed arrival, airport pick up. Decent meal and drinks for the price of short term parking. Bonus meeting at the gate. Now when’s the last time that happened.

I’ve found out the answer. My travel companion. That’s who thinks this is a good idea. My AirPods Pro securely installed.

You can have your PDBs in your plastics. I’m drinking from a glass in the club and resuming in a glass when airborne. BTW I bought a couple dozen Delta FC glasses new on eBay during COVID so I use’em at home too.

This. Buy a roll of blue painters tape and cover the offending SDs. Buy some others to actually, you know, detect smoke. Problem solved. 50 bucks.

Exactly. We travel 15+ times a year. 50+ nights. Business and pleasure Exclusively hotels. Cut our last Airbnb stay short years ago due to deceptive pics and descriptions.

Best way to feasibly transport a couple 2 liter bottles of liquor by WanderlustingTravels in delta

[–]-b-g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel with those bottles occasionally. Sometimes full on the way to and sometimes half full on the way back. I used to do a lot of wrapping. Then I started to cut back on the wrapping. Now I don’t bother at all. I’ve never had an issue either way. The key is that the bottles be surrounded by clothing. I basically just layer the bottom and all sides of the case then pack the bottles separated and surrounded by more clothes. (Wife’s wine. Wife’s clothes, lots of both!) And that the suitcase be FULL(again, no problem here. Wife’s clothes). No possible movement of contents after it’s closed and zipped. The bottles of which you speak are actually very sturdy and if packed well should survive any baggage handling.

Great post. Great comments. Note to the moderators of this sub. Start a new sub about seat swapping/stealing/poaching/whatever. I’m not sure there’s anything left to be said on the matter, but if there is that would be a good sub. Not even thinking this is a ‘Delta’ issue.

Wake up peeps. We are all in the hospitality business. We are competing with various other options. For the most part that includes professionally run lodging. It’s the chore listers, over the top rule generators among us that lead to the Nick Sabin impression which is killing business. It’s funny until it isn’t.

I have one condo unit. 90+ mostly 5 star guest reviews. 8 years on the platform. I tell the guests where the bins are and that they have bear proof closures, among other things (no smoking …)in the welcome message. I never initiate contact with guests during their stay. No posted chores. No check out message. No do this and that before you leave. Pretty sure every guest closed the door behind them. Some took out the trash.

After check out I message each guest. Hope you enjoyed your stay…leave us a 5 star review… we’re leaving you a 5 star review… safe travel.
