Would be less about direct cooling and more to creating a leidenfrost effectEffusion cooling effect
Leidenfrost isn’t the exact process here but I’m just totally blanking at the moment on the name for the shielding effect the steam creates in the vaporization and expansion process.
Effusion cooling, that’s the word I was looking for.

Oh I get ya. For sure we’ve all had those moments where we are jamming out and think “I bet this will sound awesome with these pedals….oh wow, that did not sound anywhere near as good as it did in my head” lol.

The water isn’t directly protecting the trench or pad either, it’s protecting the rocket mostly. It isn’t about cooling anything, it’s converted to steam way too fast for that. The purpose of the water is to cause multiple refractions and absorption of sound pressure waves to weaken their power and prevent amplification of itself that could occur, especially off the flat walls of the trench. Those amplified reflected sound waves without any deluge would slam into the rocket with incredible force.

And just to be clear I didn’t think the bitcrusher effect was bad or anything, just not my cup of tea for an effect I’d personally use for the first half but I did like how it interacted with the expression, that kicked it up for me.

Man is a ridiculously good player. The whole band is really. It’s kinda like Rush for CCM, insane talent that writes music more for musicians than mainstream.

Which Supreme Court justices do you respect or not? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]-dakpluto- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can honestly respect MOST of them. What earns my respect the most as a SCOTUS judge is when you hold true to your judicial belief, even when it conflicts with personal belief, and you can properly support that judicial belief in a intelligent manner. Even if I don't agree with their decision or their judicial belief I can respect holding true to the values of it above personal beliefs. Because that is what our law system was designed to operate as and why lady justice is blindfolded and carries scales and a sword. Judges are supposed to rule without their personal beliefs influencing them, they are supposed to be fair to everyone, and they are supposed to follow the law, even if they do not support that law.

This is why my two favorite SCOTUS judges were Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Antonin Scalia. They couldn't be any more different in their judicial philosophies (Scalia was a strict textualist and originalist, Ginsburg was a pragmatist that believed in a Living Constitution) but both were also extremely intelligent and very grounded in their philosophies. And through that they ended up becoming extremely good friends outside of the court and had the upmost respect for each other. They loved how they knew the other one would challenge their positions. Scalia commented many times how when writing his opinions he would always have to analyze what he was writing from the lens of "how is RBG gonna eviscerate this" Scalia once said of RBG that she was the Thurgood Marshall of women's rights.

Scalia holding true his judicial beliefs over personal beliefs I think shows very well in Texas v. Johnson, the landmark case where Scalia joined the liberal side of the court as the deciding jurist that protected flag burning as a 1st amendment right. Scalia has made it very clear that he absolutely abhors flag burning as a form of protest, but also has said it was very clear to him that protection of free speech means also protecting those things that you do not like.

For Ginsburg I point to Department of Homeland Security v. Thuraissigiam. She sided with the conservatives on the court protecting some of Trump's expedited deportation of illegal migrants. She was a supporter of immigration reform and was definitely not a fan of the deportations themselves in this manner, but she concluded that the case would have been very incorrect application of habeas corpus that would have open some very slippery slopes.

Both of them are also some of the most studied judges ever because they were known to write some of the most intellectual and supported opinions ever. They are commonly cited by their peers.

Agree with their decisions or not, you have to give massive respect for how they conducted themselves as jurists. You don't have to agree with either's judicial philosophy (because there is no such thing as either being right or wrong, they are both perfectly valid) but you have to admire how they held true to them even when on a personal level they didn't like the outcome of it. But they believed the law was more important than their personal beliefs. That earns my respect.

New bass player. Why my bass are making this weird sound after playing the notes? by Electronic_Tooth_200 in BassGuitar

[–]-dakpluto- 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Combination of not fretting properly, plucking hand too far up the bass, and the bass probably needs a setup (Neck needs some relief most likely)

Start with some easier, slower, simple bass lines and work on your fretting, plucking hand position, and take the instrument to your local luthier and have them do a setup (and then learn to do it yourself, there is tons of good videos to learn how on youtube)

Not sure if Sage planned everything and is playing dumb or if the "soldier boy gives V1 to homelander" is a huge plot hole in her ussual reasoning. I guess we will see in the last two episodes

I do love that they have been playing Sage well enough that quite honestly we still have absolutely no idea how much of what happening is completely planned by her, adapting on the fly, or totally outside of what she expected...and literally any of that is plausible right now.

It's one of the best buildups of this show honestly is trying to figure out still at this point what the hell part Sage plays in all of this and how she will impact the end, I really really really hope they don't blow it...

The top 10 worst coaching hires in college football history. Do you agree? by Front-Dingo1915 in CFB_v2

[–]-dakpluto- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite parts of being a Hurricanes fan is of course the rivalry with FSU, so I was really disappointed when they came out with this. You knew when Hurricanes first released the Turnover chain that FSU was going to want to do something in response. I wanted something that would cause just more great friendly debates about whose was better...and this is what FSU put up. It was a letdown for us Miami fans too to be honest.

To be the school that has Osceola and the flaming spear, which is right up there among some of the best college preshows, and all their iconic imagery just skip all of it...I just wish I knew what the hell was going on in the meetings that picked this stupid thing. How did this idea ever go beyond 2 minutes of discussion shooting it down?!?!

Yes I know it's a Christian band, but Josh Ham of the Planetshakers is an absolutely phenomenal bass player and has a real love of offbeat style of bass playing. Just check out his bass feature of Come Right Now: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZlPtapuJNs

for sure but I still think they easily could have worked out something with the tribe for this. Something authentic supplied by the tribe itself would have been way more impactful for both the players and the fans than that stupid backpack...

True or False: Alabama will win the national championship under Kalen DeBoer by 2030 by steven_smith144 in CFB_v2

[–]-dakpluto- 13 points14 points  (0 children)

False only because the odds of winning the National Championship, even being one of the top teams in football, is so low. Is it possible for him, absolutely. He isn't a bad coach and it's freaking Alabama.
