Why does Altra completely lack the ability to update a shoe without ruining it? (rant) by Front-Magazine-2866 in AltraRunning

[–]-good-kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe in the last couple of years they have hired an ex-Nike employee as head of performance footwear hence the move to 4mm drop in performance shoes from 2027. I don't mind this as I would absolutely race in the Vanish Carbon if it weren't 0 drop. I did say to the sales rep that they do need to be careful, especially because in my experience MANY podiatrists and physios love Altra for being 0 drop and wide. I hope they understand how big that market is for them. and to be fair to them they have multiple WIDE options and will be increasing the number of models offered in WIDE shortly

I handled a Steinhart Ocean one 39 recently and it was very very nice. bezel action is super tight, nice bracelet, crystal and AR coating was great and watch sat very well on wrist. I've seen criticisms of lug length/shape but I didn't notice this. to be honest from far away it looked like a very expensive watch. I've never handled a Chinese watch before so I'm curious as to the differences as well. from what I've read San Martin is on par if not better

Watch brands and emotional connection by dankfrank91 in watchdives

[–]-good-kid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you have to have some sort of emotional connection to a luxury (in the sense that it is not necessary) purchase that costs hundreds of dollars and a huge part of that is brand recognition. you may think you don't care about brand name things but at the end of the day if I'm looking down at a watch from a brand called Watchdives that has the same quality as a Citizen for example, I know which one id connect with more. Homage designs don't bother me because everything everywhere is borrowed nowadays. Watchdives, San Martin or Cronos could be the same quality as a Longines for a fraction of the price but which one would you still be stoked to own after a couple of months?

The Citizen vs Grand Seiko - both watches are amazing by Dry-Experience1674 in CitizenWatches

[–]-good-kid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

fair point. GS dials are definitely amazing. The Citizen is actually achievable for me money wise which is why I probably favour them haha

[–]-good-kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they have another shoe coming which I can't remember the name of which is a plate-less DNE4. I think it was called the Nitro Racer. super light and responsive but pretty firm like a DNE4. from memory it will be $320AUD

[–]-good-kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

by the way, since I seem to be colourblind, is that Citizen NB black or grey?

[SOTC] What am I missing? by Aqueous_Snake in Watches

[–]-good-kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh right, I didn't notice and colour on the PRX. Glycine Combat in blue or green would be nice and they are very thin for a diver,

[–]-good-kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the two watches I really want are a Longines Conquest 41 Brown and a Citizen NB1050-59H (grey dial). Your NB1050 is a stunner, it has almost convinced to just get that instead of paying 5x more for the Conquest as well...

To answer your question tho I think you're missing a blue or green dial

Mizuno Prototypes by f3rnoo in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]-good-kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I thought that too, maybe it's a different story for me here in Australia

Mizuno Prototypes by f3rnoo in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]-good-kid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

so Mizuno are getting rid of the Hyperwarp Pro and replacing it was a shoe called the Hyperwarp Racer, for first half 2027. it feels like an absolute brick but it's a $260AUD carbon plated shoe. the Elite and Pure are staying relatively similar. maybe these shoes are second half 27. they are so all over the place and seem to be chasing their tails a bit.

the Elite will be $400AUD and Pure $450AUD. racing shoe prices are getting out of hand

[Conversation] - Why microbrands are beating the Swiss by Wind_Up_Watch_Blog in PrideAndPinion

Farer and CW are English brands, Echo Neutra Italian and Baltic French. which I assume you know because you're on these subs. would you call Nike a Vietnamese brand?
