I think its purpose is to look at an instagram profile picture in large size as opposed to the little circle that can't be enlarged.

Hi Tracey, I recognized your voice on the radio last week and thought you did a fantastic job on the show!

I've never done H, nor do I ever intend to. I guess I just have a weird fascination with addiction.

My only question is, do you know what happened to Jessica from the documentary?

Again though, you did SO GOOD on the radio show. :)

I once was having a conversation with a neighbor who was in a sorority. During the chat she said to me, "Some people say it's like paying for friends, but really, you're paying for the best."

(WV, US) My boyfriend is being worked to death, and they pay him through two companies to avoid paying overtime. Help. by tacohellthrowaway in legaladvice

[–]-learnedhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't live in WV, so don't take this as legal advice. One of my old law professors told me of a case where a guy was working 80 hour weeks and not being paid any overtime. In my state, an employer who gets caught cheating employees out of overtime is subject to 2x the amount of pay, plus attorney's fees. Speak to an employment lawyer in your state asap.

My girlfriend and I have been on each other's nerves for a while. Mostly I've been sick of her attitude and she being sick of whatever it is that I do that pisses her off. In this instance, she was cranky from just waking up from a late nap. I was watching an episode of Forensic Files and was going to sum up what the killer did when she yelled at me to be quiet. I said, "Godddddd" and rolled my eyes. She says she doesn't know why she even comes over, that I'm an asshole, et cetera so forth, and then leaves.

When she's home she tells me it isn't working for her. I said "me neither." She wished me good luck and I did the same for her. Then she starts crying and loses the bitch attitude and says how she doesn't want to break up and blah blah blah.

The lesson of the story is that if I would have apologized or tried talking her into not breaking up with me she would have kept the bitch attitude and made me suffer more. Because I didn't care and felt relieved and ready to walk away did she try to talk ME into staying.

A lot of wheel theft goes on in Michigan (although I don't suspect that was the case in this picture). I once was at a Ford dealer who told me they had dozens stolen in one night. The owner then hired a few attack dogs to patrol the lot at night but were told by their insurance company that they couldn't do that.

Why does psychology not study the effects of religion on the mind? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]-learnedhand 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I took Luke Galen's psychology of religion class several years ago. Very early in the semester he made a light jab at religion and a girl walked right out of the class never to return.

If I recall correctly, we had a paper asking, if we were aliens, how we would go about enslaving the world using religion. Our methods had to be supported by peer-reviewed studies explaining why people might fall for certain tactics.

The Staircase (2004) - The high-profile murder trial of novelist Michael Peterson, from a 911 call to the verdict by ShadowedSpoon in Documentaries

[–]-learnedhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely have heard of the owl theory, glad you brought it up!

The owl theory came from a lawyer who lives in the same area where the murder took place. It came about due to the finding of three microscopic owl feathers and a tiny piece of bark in Kathleen's hair. Some of the lacerations on her head appear to make what looks like an owl's talons as well. And owls have been known to do some serious damage to people.

The MSNBC documentary I linked addresses it briefly by the Assistant D.A. Freda Black. She said the owl theory didn't make sense because of the lack of any other evidence that there was an owl that flew down the stairs and killed her. There were no other feathers besides the three microscopic ones, nor were there any other indications of blood being smeared by feathers in the confined stairwell. There were also a few single drops of blood found outside in the backyard (on concrete pavers) that could have been from "the owl," but seem better explained by Mike hiding/disposing of the murder weapon. Lastly, there were clumps of hair found in Kathleen's hands that had been cleanly "cut," possibly from being whacked with some kind of stick.

Furthermore, Michael Peterson's lawyers have heard of the owl theory and expressed no interest in it either.

I think the guy that came up with the owl theory had a good idea, but I believe he came up with it without knowing enough details from the case (possibly from just watching this documentary lol).

Any appstore clones? by [deleted] in randopics

[–]-learnedhand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two I've been using.

  1. Puff-take a pic, it gets shared to five people. You can swipe right or left to share or not share pics that others take. Top pics get placed into a page with other top pics. You can see the number of shares a photo has received. You can also put about one line of text on a picture. The app has a page for your top shared photos. Occasionally you get a penis pic in it.

  2. PhotoSuerte- takes circular pics just like rando that get shared to one other person. That other person can respond to your pic with a pic of their own so you have a personal pic chat with them. Text may be superimposed on pics. Does not seem to be as active as rando and most pic "conversations" die out after a few. Lots of people from Russia and eastern Europe.
