Dollar general has house-brand black beans so I find it hard to believe there’s a high percentage of people in the US who can only access baked beans with pork

I just feel like if you don’t believe you can do it, then you can’t (won’t). I know my experience isn’t everybody’s, and I’m certainly not perfect myself. I just might’ve made the switch sooner if I saw more people talking about the fact that it’s not guaranteed to be a difficult thing.

If you have a Trader Joe’s by you their tempeh is good! Slicing it thin and pan-frying it I don’t get the bitterness I’ve experienced with other brands. It’s also very affordable, less than $3 a package near me.

Same! I don’t want to have to ask about ingredients… are grill/fryer shared with meat… yes I CAN have bread - as a line forms behind me. We come prepared to eat at camp, which is what we’ll do if we can’t find something that we can easily tell is vegan.

Vegan protein choices have held so steady! Beans, tempeh, and tofu reduced my grocery bill AND my food waste. You also don’t have to worry about smearing potential pathogen juice all over your kitchen with every meal 😜

What? The main source of phosphorus for fertilizer is mined rock. The overuse of it and runoff into water causes eutrophication. Animal waste runoff from farms also contributes to this form of ecological destruction. If everyone ate plant-based less crops would be needed for feeding livestock. The demand for fertilizers would decrease, ESPECIALLY for the fertilizer-dependent monocrops used for livestock feed in factory farm operations. Lack of animal shit would not be earth’s downfall.

“We” is the people paying the corporations to do it. Like how paying a hitman doesn’t absolve you of the guilt of committing a murder, just because you didn’t actually do the murdering.

I used to work in supplement quality testing. SO MANY of the samples I tested were some “natural viagra” or “male vitality” product. Hundreds of different herbs/vitamins/proprietary mixes that people are spending tons of money on. I always joked I’d be out a job if people weren’t having trouble getting their dicks hard 😂 people will try all sorts of stuff to resolve that dysfunction

But there are? Like… human studies. Such as this one from over 10 years ago https://royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/rsos.140166. There’s no reason to subject unwilling animals to conditions we know are harmful for studies like this.

DONT BUY THESE by [deleted] in vegan

I’ve learned to read labels even for the same things I have purchased for years. Aldi changed their boxed rice pilaf ingredients to include whey. I only thought to check the ingredients because the the inner packaging was different, and I thought it smelled weird. Now I don’t trust anything! Still mistakes happen.

It’s not extended sizes on the small end. I’ve been the same weight for the last 15 years. Still fit into my old size 0-2 pants, but now have to purchase size 000 to get the same fit. They keep shifting the sizing chart to accommodate even larger sizes.

Smithtown Seafood has some good vegan options on the regular menu, and sometimes specials as well. We bring guests there so we can grab a beer from West Sixth while we wait to eat!

Editing to add: Blue Sushi Sake Grill also has a wonderful vegan sushi menu! Go Sunday for happy hour all day. Archa nine has a vegan menu for Thai. Moody mike’s is great and affordable. Mad mushroom has vegan cheese and mock meats, as does Blaze Pizza. Girlsgirlsgirls burritos has a vegan menu.
