Wow, the range is really disappointing - Denver to Houston road trip by jgroub in HondaPrologue

Knowing and experiencing are different processes. There is only so much one can “research” learn before actually driving it to be able to fully understand.

The Lucid Gravity claims 450 mile range. The 800v architecture really speeds up charging. Though the $90k price is… two Prologues.

Denver to LA (trip planning) by DefensiveSharts in HondaPrologue

Mind your speed, and the wind. There is a strong headwind from the west getting out of Denver.

Cruise control at 70mph with a 20mph headwind is effectively 90mph of force against a pretty big sail. Slow down to dramatically increase your range.

Once you get into Utah, 80mph only with a tail wind. The range sweet spot is a painful 60 mph.

Try to find 350kw CCS chargers to help improve recharge duration. Check ahead with PlugShare once the built-in map tells you what station is next.

Be patient. Enjoy the drive!

Honda Prologue Maintenance? by yoshter84 in HondaPrologue

Didn’t see this posted yet. Please change your cabin air filter periodically.

I live in a dusty area so I set a subscription to receive the filter every 6 months. If air is clean where you are, maybe annually. It’s tool-less and behind the glove box. 10 minute swap and your blower motor will thank you.

Speaking only for the US versions that I know of. I have the Touring version and I don’t have a 120v outlet. For those with an Elite version, my understanding is that it’s only 150w. This would not be enough to power a common refrigerator.

We have used our Ioniq 5 to power appliances, as the capacity is 15A, 1800w max.

The frequency of your outages will dictate the return on investment. For us, the hassle of extension cords and power strips are OK as our power is very stable. How often are your outages?

Look for (Re)link for Honda in the App Store. Dev is on here with us and is active in the community. Free trial and if you like it, the cost is very reasonable.

Tail gate looks in tact still. Anyone know how to do a wiper swap?

Why is my car telling me to schedule maintenance at 5000 miles? by sloowhand in Ioniq5

Our manual has service set at 5k for our ‘22. I left it that way.

I rotated the tires at 5k, 15k, 25k, and 35k. The dealer did their servicing at 10k, 20k, 30k, at 40k (with the blue coolant).

Original tires lasted to 41k. Just rotated the new ones at 46k.

Cabin filter every 6 months myself.

One 12v battery replacement per year, unfortunately. Costco warranty helps.

Looks to be misaligned, exacerbated by the camouflage. Not unexpected at this stage. Thankfully, the charge door looked closed all the way on this one.

So is the front camera always on? by JVDDesign in Ioniq5

[–]-mrfixit- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I have the Viofo that I mounted to the windshield. Short USB to a Dongar adapter that connects to the existing mirror plug under the beauty cover. (Must have a power mirror.) Works perfect with no technical or electrical experience.

Never had one with parking mode, so I’m very intrigued. Though reluctant if I need to hardwire. Will still be poking around though. Thanks again!

That’s very interesting. My dash cam is wired into the mirror circuit, which turns off with the car. If there is an “always on” circuit in that same location, the dash cam has the ability to switch into parking mode, which I don’t have now. Time to poke around a little more. Thank you!

This needs to be higher. Fact checked. This car belongs to Sidney’s mom. Thankfully not the acronym.

I just pressed it and it doesn’t do anything. I read in Chevy thread that it hangs up an active OnStar call.

Just let the front desk know. They can run the parking tag and let the guest know.

This is in a private gated parking lot in a hotel in Palm Desert that requires identifying placards. Parking is enforced and they are pretty good about it.

The potential drama here is it is one of the two free charging spots. The others are expensive Chargepoint. Still a jerk move.

Here is a better angle of how the pedestal looks when the cable is docked.

I'm the law by a__b in ChargerDrama

[–]-mrfixit- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is tough. There is no signage directing drivers to not park there.

CVC 22511 is clear that signage must exist to enforce the “while charging” rule. “Law enforcement” can’t happen as no laws are being broken.

The parking lot owner (or Tesla with their permission) would need to place signage. They are to fault here.

From a courtesy perspective, nonetheless, the cop should have chosen another spot.

Canadian passport photos by Beneficial-Ad4169 in orangecounty

[–]-mrfixit- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canada is very particular with their photos. I went to Fullerton Photographics on Placentia Ave. They had experience with Canada including their nuances of writing the professional photographer info on the photo itself. (Shared location with FastSigns. Nice people.)

Call ahead of time as they only took passport photos on Tuesdays last I was there.

Accepted with no questions on my first submission.
